Re: Mojang Says No To Minecraft NFTs

XenoShaun

@SteamEngenius If only Inspector Gadget could actually own them brown bricks in Minecraft.

In regards to topic, do Mojang have the final say in this? Wouldn't Microsoft be able to veto their choice if MS went all in on NFTs?

Not that I think either side would go for it. More curious how much say MS has, considering it seems Todd Howard has to bow to MS with his buyout.

Re: DOOM's Legendary Co-Creator John Romero Is Making A Brand New FPS

XenoShaun

Hoping 'Major publisher' means good publisher, but far too many of the 'major' ones are scumbags these days so unlikely.

As for if the game will be quality or not. We know Romero has the talent to do good, but guess depends on the quality of the developers supporting him as well (Yuji Naka's recent efforts come to mind).

Re: New Trails From Zero Trailer Shows Tweaks To Series' Signature Combat

XenoShaun

@Lolcat Yeah seems like quite a mess. No blame intended at any of the localisers as it shouldn't of been allowed to get to this point. I'm guessing just assuming people have access to every games machine and pc validates not needing to figure out how to release earlier titles.

@Piyo Oh I'm sure XSeed have done / do a tremendous job with it all. I can't say I have too much experience with them as I believe our side of the pond similar releases are handled by Marvelous Europe? I know XSeed use to fill in for some Nintendo stuff on Wii U also in America like Devil's Third?

But if I am understanding this right. Would it not be down to the original rights holder and XSeed to get the first two released outside of Japan on Switch? - Assuming it's plausible due to PC and PS4 releases not long ago - Or is it in more legal cuffuffles due to who and how localisations of the series have been done?

Re: New Trails From Zero Trailer Shows Tweaks To Series' Signature Combat

XenoShaun

@EarthboundBenjy Even more annoying 1 and 2 have been available for years on Switch in Japan. I picked up the first game on PS4 in a sale to see if it's my kind of thing, but from everything I have seen from the outside of this franchise you'd be almost completely clueless going in with the third entry. Makes it even more confusing we don't see 1 and 2 here, or had those released first..

Re: Zynga's New Free-To-Play Star Wars Game Has Been Delayed (Again)

XenoShaun

@GrailUK I always see these delay messages as code for 'our mtx store isn't functioning as predatory as we want it to be so we need to make sure that functions as intended before we can launch' kind of thing. Even the most crappy and buggiest of games that launch always made sure the mtx store worked flawlessly. EA and Ubisoft come to mind there.

Re: Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous Heading For Switch Via The Cloud

XenoShaun

According to its PC specifications this should be able to run native on Switch. It does ask for 50gb (so maybe 30-40gb for the actual game), but it's compression (not needing 4k assets) for Switch should drop that way down.

Somebody over there decided it was a good idea to do a Cloud release, not a choice made for them as cloud releases should be. Cloud should be for games that actually can't work or for a company in no financial position to do a native port, however they should fully look over if it's worth alienating the Switch user base with a cloud release at all.

Re: Nintendo To Acquire Dynamo Pictures, Will Rename It 'Nintendo Pictures'

XenoShaun

@Friendly That was the first thought I had when I saw this. Would we get more elaborate trailers and footage for upcoming games? Didn't we get a bunch similar for Smash Bros character reveals?

While I'd be down for more full production stuff like the pikmin movies, or even something as extravagant as their Kingsglaive work, I'd imagine it's more the former. Plus if it was going to be more the latter, wouldn't it of made more sense to have the Mario movie done in house with these guys?

Re: Bayonetta 3 Gets "Mature" ESRB Rating For Nudity, Gore, And In-Game Purchases

XenoShaun

For all those above querying the in game purchases label. Keep in mind if there is any online gameplay at all there will be this warning due to requiring Nintendo online membership to play it.

Know Nlife doesn't like to state the likely safe obvious, but don't get your knickers ruffled folks. ESRB's 'in game purchases' label is absolutely pathetic and doesn't do what it should, to notify of predatory mtx in games ala everything EA.

Re: Suda51's Cult Classic 'Lollipop Chainsaw' Is Getting A Remake Next Year

XenoShaun

@locky-mavo @anonymous Just thought I would chime in, that same Warner Brothers decided to bring Hogwarts Legacy, a game deemed far too hardware intensive to ever dream to be on Switch, to the Switch. Key point here? They are using Unreal Engine. If Lollipop Chainsaw remake uses the unreal engine then a Switch port is highly likely due to it running native on the Switch. If it's worth whatever downscale it will have is a completely different ball park, as well as how much money and optimisation the dev / pub team is willing to do.

Nowadays it becomes less of a 'this game has hardcore graphics so it won't come to < insert platform here >', rather than is the Engine used compatible with the device. That is what makes Epic's latest engine just that much more versatile to work with.

Would be curious to see what they do with the game regardless. It certainly has its charm back in the day, and strongly due to its choice of soundtrack as well. Fingers crossed it'll be good.

Re: Blizzard Entertainment Acquires Spellbreak Developer Proletariat

XenoShaun

Best news of all, that's another 100 or so petition signee's about the 'non existent" abuse and harassment that pit of hell is breeding.

Besides that, sounds to me Spellbreak was canned due to this deal, bit too fast for it to seem like Blizzard is coming in to save such poor and desperate developers from financial ruin.

Re: Square Enix Rolls Out Chocobo GP Version 1.1.1, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

XenoShaun

@RubyCarbuncle A sad day that will be. They still release the odd good game (though modern day SE seem to lack the talent or allowance of said talent these days), but most of their recent stuff has been very poor for me at least. Still need to give Triangle Strategy a go at some point, the rest of this year's releases have been hack jobs to say the least (well majority of the Q1 releases).

Re: Review: STAR WARS: Knights Of The Old Republic II: The Sith Lords - Always Two, There Are

XenoShaun

@IronMan30 From what I have played so far, and from someone who had recently played the Xbox original version, the game runs smoother and has yet to crash (knock on wood) as well as the speaker destroying audio issues are gone. I am around 4 hours or so in so can't say if it gets far worse later on or falls into old habits of the original release.

@RubyCarbuncle The Kotor games aren't on PS4, and Xbox One has the original buggy Xbox releases that still suffer many bugs (missing in the switch 'remasters'), and are not wide-screen. When not on sale the games are about the same price too. PC versions you need to install mods to get similar experiences (or far better ones) than these switch versions.

It would of course be nicer if these were remastered more than they are, but it's cool to see these aren't locked in some vault. Wonder what other Star Wars titles we can expect from Disney that isn't locked in with EA rights holding (sucks to think the good battlefront games won't get a re-release).

Re: Poll: What's The Best Warriors Game On Switch?

XenoShaun

With an upcoming announcement of another warriors game coming to Switch in the West, may of been a tad early to pull the trigger on this.

I would say that said upcoming announcement could be the best at least content wise. Though the one I have played the most is definitely Hyrule Warriors (across all its three versions). Probably 1200 hours or so in total. Still miss the online 'help' you could provide on the Wii U version though.

Re: Review: Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream - Another Intoxicating Blend

XenoShaun

@moodycat @Astral-Grain KT Japan no longer offer a budget for English VA for majority of their titles that release in the West now. This has been a thing for several years now where only a few major games will have it (or those funded elsewhere), and everything else will get a mediocre sub translation. It is a shame but KT keep claiming over 90% of their profits come from Japan so the rest of the world doesn't offer the returns for a higher budget.

At the least Atelier games get an advertising budget now. During the Vita era they wouldn't give any budget and the Western branches had to do anything they could to get the demanded sales they needed.

Re: The Risqué 'Duel Princess' Returns To PC Following Switch And Steam Delisting

XenoShaun

Bought this on release and completed it. Didn't actually know it got delisted until about a week or so ago. Been trying to think what could of caused it to get delisted though, it is very tame in it's "sexual" side, and the gameplay itself is pretty fun and addictive.

The "punishment" which boils down to clicking a cursor on a clothed girl is likely the cause, but considering you can skip it entirely I wonder why they just don't remove it. Must be something more to it.

Either way, it's a shame as the core gameplay was really fun.
