Re: Metroid Dread: Raven Beak Final Boss Battle - How To Beat Raven Beak

Xansies

@Waluigi I mean to be fair, this guy was clearly the final boss from the first cutscene f the game. I wouldn't call this a spoiler. He doesn't exactly come out of nowhere. It's pretty clear that this is the guy before you can even play the game. They didn't actually spoil the twist of the game so no harm I see.

Re: Video: Why Didn't Square Enix Port The Kingdom Hearts Collection To Switch?

Xansies

@tka060681 It was barely perfectly fine in 2018. Now its ancient. It's using a chip from what 2015? A little bump would have been nice in 2020, but now a full switch 2 is kinda needed. It's going on 5 years, man. I get that the last console generation was longer than most, but the switch was a new thing. It definitely needs another iteration. It kinda needed one for years.

Re: Video: Here's The First 90 Minutes Of Metroid Dread

Xansies

@Tandy255 I mean, maybe they didn't have a 3ds. This is my first 2d Metroid since zero mission, which is ridiculous. I'm thinking about taking a weekend and playing through the series and maybe tracking down am2r. I wonder if it'd be better to replay them or go in fresh

Re: Video: Here's The First 90 Minutes Of Metroid Dread

Xansies

@Darkyoshi98

Honestly, zero mission was kinda just fusion with a reimagined map a bit like the original Metroid. It's not even fair to compare Metroid and zero mission or return of Samus to Samus returns. They're just not in the same league. A better comparison would be zero mission and fusion and dread to Samus returns because that's what the games are direct sequels to.

Also, the og games didn't have in game maps or save rooms. It's kinda hard to say they're anything but loosely based on other games with a straight face. It's not like they were remasters, they were full reimaginings. Kinda more like final fantasy 7 remake than like GTA PS5 version or whatever. I mean, look at Samus returns and the return of Samus. Suggesting they're the same thing is kinda silly.

Re: Devious Dataminers May Have Unearthed The Entire Playable Cast Of Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity

Xansies

@shoeses Well, sure. My main point them is why get the first hyrule warriors then? It meets all of your complaints except is markedly worse on all of them. Mostly in depth of combat. AOC (ha) seems to focus more on combat than fan service. There are a lot more characters in the first one, but that doesn't me all of them are fun to play agatha and it's much more button mashy. The reason I like impa and zelda in this is because you really can't mash your way to victory because of their unique mechanics. I mean, you could, but it's take forever. Amd by less enemies I mean a few hundred instead of a few thousand like fore emblem warriors or dynasty warriors. It's about on par with the first hyrule warriors of a little less.

Re: Devious Dataminers May Have Unearthed The Entire Playable Cast Of Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity

Xansies

@Mr_Persona Nah, I played them all. I'm a big fan, admittedly. If the character depth stays from what we see in the three from the demo, it's gonna be a good one. I mean, as far as warriors games go, it's pretty anitbutton mashy, at least it's hard to get far mashing with zelda and impa because of their special mechanic. It probably compares best to persona scramble or dragon quest heroes more than any other warriors game

Re: Devious Dataminers May Have Unearthed The Entire Playable Cast Of Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity

Xansies

@shoeses Which is kinda your loss because from the demo mechanically the game is much better. Hell, I'll go by the first 3 hours I played and say it's close to one of the best warriors style slash em ups. This entirely has to do with the depth of the three playable characters we got and the relatively low amount of enemies on the map making it feel more like dragon quest heroes than hyrule warriors. Out of the warriors spinoff series, this one definitely feels the best, at least out of fire emblem, hyrule, and pirates. And runs probably worst. Here's hoping for the switch pro

Re: Random: Wow, The PS5 Really Does Dwarf The Switch

Xansies

@kalosn I think the main issue with the design with me is kinda the size. It's actually not an issue as much as it makes me lean towards the digital version primarily because my set up means it has to go somewhere a disk drive would be hard to access. Not that I buy discs very often anymore anyway

Re: Random: Wow, The PS5 Really Does Dwarf The Switch

Xansies

@kalosn it's entirely for airflow and acoustic reasons. Sony got a lot of heat (budumtish) for how loud and hot the ps3 and ps4 and ps4 pro get. This is a solution. Considering the series x apparently still has heat issues, it might not have been a bad idea once.yoi get past how ugly it is

Re: Random: Wow, The PS5 Really Does Dwarf The Switch

Xansies

@RPGamer For the first year, you're kinda right. There was almost no reason on the software side to even own a ps4 until like 2016. Bloodborne and Horizon were probably the first really killer get the thing had. Before that it was infamous second son, which was okay, I guess.

Re: Random: Wow, The PS5 Really Does Dwarf The Switch

Xansies

@Collette My only issue with the series S is I have a feeling that by the end of the lifespan of the thing it'll be seriously struggling to keep up like the base xbox one and to a lesser extent base ps4 do. I mean, og ps4 kinda manages, but the base one just constantly seems to be on the edge of collapse

Re: Random: Wow, The PS5 Really Does Dwarf The Switch

Xansies

@San_D Yeah, the don't exclusives all have a distinct thing about them. Same with nintendo exclusives, really. Nintendo games tend to put gameplay first and sony games tend to put story first. It's kinda just a different approach to gaming and one that can be done wrong in both ways. Look at how ubisoft tries to copy the uncharted formula, the botw formula, and the witcher 3 and always just seems to miss the point

Re: Random: Wow, The PS5 Really Does Dwarf The Switch

Xansies

I actually don't like the ps5 design either. It looks like it microsoft handled the airflow problem more maturely, though given that the series x run hot, maybe there's something to the tall binder approach sony had. That said, I have a gaming pc that'll work for the next couple years so I can't possibly see the appeal of either xbox.

Re: Random: Wow, The PS5 Really Does Dwarf The Switch

Xansies

@2Jojotaro Well, for the first year, yes, basically everything will be cross platform because basically everything was designed for the one and ps4 before basically just being in development long enough to cross to the next gen. Happens every generation. Kinda like how last year had like 20 wii u ports to the switch, but the reverse.

Re: Random: Wow, The PS5 Really Does Dwarf The Switch

Xansies

Funnily enough, the size of the thing really does lead more to the digital only version. There's really no practical place for me to put it aside from behind my tv or inside a cabinet which makes accessing a disk drive kinda difficult.

Re: Rumour: Is The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Taking To The Skies On Nintendo Switch?

Xansies

@Slowdive the controls will work just fine with the joycons. I mean, the joycons are more precise than the Wii motion plus so that's a non problem. It would be unplayable on the switch lite though so they would have to include a non motion control option, which kinda defeats the gimmick of the game. I do agree that they put so much effort in the motion thing that the rest of the game suffered. Except the story. That's basically on par for zelda for me and lorewise I like it.l

Re: Rumour: Is The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Taking To The Skies On Nintendo Switch?

Xansies

@PALversusNTSC the controls were the gimmick there and it's pretty hit and miss because you know, Wii. Twilight princess was basically trying to capture OOT and a lttp only kinda got. It had great and iconic parts like eldin bridge, the temple or time time travel dungeon, and that wild west shoot out section parts, it also had some bits that were just meh ( literally everytime you're forced to play as wolf link and why that part is conveniently left out of all twilight princess stuff that came after).

Anyway skyward sword had great bosses, pretty much dungeons on the same level as wind waker, and that's it.

Re: Square Enix Announces Infinity Strash - Dragon Quest: The Adventure Of Dai, But Is It Coming To Switch?

Xansies

@dimi there were 2 dragon quest warriors game and it honestly they were great (mechanically). It played exactly like you'd want a action dragon quest game to play like. It feel just like an extension of the turnbased games somehow. Now the story was god awful even for the warrior spinoff genre. If this plays like dragon quest hero's 2 but isn't as lame story wise I'm down.

Re: Feature: XCOM 2's Creative Director On The Challenge Of Bringing The Series To Switch

Xansies

Eh, I think it'll probably run terribly. Xcom 2 kinda always had issues on even PCs with decent hardware. It's a great game though and one of my favorites of always. It does have some thematic issues where by the end your army feels grossly overpowered, especially with war of the chosen, but I get that firaxis Xcom isn't made with the same mentality as the older games. Firaxis wants you to be able to beat it, for one.

Re: Nintendo 3DS Emulator Citra Comes To Android Smartphones

Xansies

@mesome713 I mean Citra isn't compatible with many, many games, but the ones that work work well enough. I don't get the thing about epsxe though, it's a good emulator that's been around forever, hit its no better than any other longrunning emulator. Anyway, functionalitywise Dolphin and PPSSPP are way better than epsxe. Dolphin especially. That thing is crazy how much work went into it.

Re: Early Tech Analysis Of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Reveals Frame Rate And Resolution

Xansies

@arnoldlayne83 I can honestly agree with that. There's no earthly reason that games like RDR2, The last of us 2, Horizon zero dawn, or even ghost of tsushima should be able to run on a base PS4 or even any modern game on a base Xbox one. They do a lot of tricks that aren't exactly optimization. They literally just turn off everything that the player isn't looking at and basically just put in jpegs for anything more than 50 yards away.

Though to be fair it's possible to argue that most games for the last two years have the same problem on the OG one as do games on the switch. It's just inadequate hardware. Sony is honestly the best at getting ***** to run on a machines that have no business running it.

And again, I still agree with you. These ports of western games on the switch are regarded as minor technological miracles just for running
