Re: Nintendo Music Adds Fire Emblem: Awakening Soundtrack In New Update

Xansies

@OFFICIALMichi Obviously fe 4 and 5 are the main ones and are commonly thought of as the ones with the best story (and kinda 4 maybe the weaker gameplay) so I hope those get the remake treatment the most, but fe 6 (the one with Roy) has also never been localized and it's the only one I've never played. The GBA games weren't particularly deep, but it is missing off the catalogue. Definitely remake genealogy first though lol. Those could definitely be remade as amazing games.

Re: Nintendo Music Adds Fire Emblem: Awakening Soundtrack In New Update

Xansies

@Yoshi3 honestly, I've played every one and you're not wrong. The general vibe and stories (recognizing that the stories for all but like 5 of them aren't great) are why I like them. I love three houses. A lot of people do. It's not a good strategy game for reasons you can get in the weeds with, but it does have wonderful characters and a pretty good story. The gameplay of these isn't really what they shine at. Even before they became anime waifu simulators (and toned that back down pretty quickly) the characters have always been the high point of the series and really what the series is about

With the exception of engage. People don't like the story, characters, or art of engage. Sure. Whatever. Engage is one of the best Trpgs made from a gameplay perspective. Like, with just this one is where you're wrong. The gameplay and maps are the best in the series and it's probably at the top of the genre as a strategy game. But, you know, people don't like the rest of it. Which is a shame. And honestly, some of the challenge maps remind me a lot of advanced wars when I think about it. The general vibe of enemy placement and how it throws baddies at you kinda makes it very similar

Re: Nintendo Music Adds Fire Emblem: Awakening Soundtrack In New Update

Xansies

Cool. Now provide that fe4 remake. Listen, it had a great story, but it wasn't a good game. It could be a great game though if they rebalance it and actually made the enemies attack your castle. Throw in something like the gambits from 3h and you're golden. In my head an adjusted fe4 plays a lot like a Trpg dynasty warriors and I'm.so hoping it happens. Bundle in fe5 with it and just take all my blood and my money

Re: Kirby Air Riders Direct Revealed for Tomorrow, 19th August 2025

Xansies

I'm sure this game will be fun, but Nintendo games always have the weirdest online play that is just typically really restrictive so it's probably not for me. I also really have only been into narrative games lately. I might get it if it looks absolutely amazing, but it's probably a pass

Re: Mailbox: Game-Key Cards, Slacker Sakurai, Shapes & Beats - Nintendo Life Letters

Xansies

@KociolekDoSyta nah. The publishers would prefer to have digital only full stop. The key cards are a compromise Nintendo offers so that there are physical games at all. Every publisher would love to eliminate the expense of making an shipping these things. physical games are in very practical terms no matter how you feel about them, no longer strictly necessary and that's how every publisher seems to feel about them. The gkc exist so that people who really like physical have something because the inevitable reality is that everything will be digital eventually

Re: Mailbox: Game-Key Cards, Slacker Sakurai, Shapes & Beats - Nintendo Life Letters

Xansies

@Dman10 flash storage has a shelf life of about 15 to 20 years and can be as little as ten depending on how they are stored and used. If used normally. I had to add that because you could put them in a microwave and kill it immediately lol. 3ds games seem to be already dying and someone told me their copy of snipper clips is dead. The switch 1 for all that I could find about how peoples v1 launch switches are doing, are dying. Mine died in 2022 because the motherboard gave out a little early. Unless the future generation is a kid you already have, these aren't making it to them. The only way they could is if you dump the games and an emulator is made.

Re: Mailbox: Game-Key Cards, Slacker Sakurai, Shapes & Beats - Nintendo Life Letters

Xansies

I have 115 games in my games library on the switch. There is absolutely no universe where I would have a physical collection of this many games. If that's what you want, power ✊, but storing that many games, sorting them, transporting them, getting up to find and change games, everything sounds so much worse. I also have about that many Playstation games. If you want a wall of games I absolutely believe in you and support you, but it's not really a style I'm into and, again, that would be so inconvenient.

The point is, I guess, the key card thing doesn't apply to me because I just can't see myself buying physical games. I have literally two and I wish they were digital

Re: Feature: 32 Games We're Dying To See On Switch 2

Xansies

@Dan1283 I just saw this and I wonder if other people are like me. I bought the switch for exclusives. I looked earlier this week and I have about 100 games now and about 80 of those are remasters. Kinda seems like it's better at that because I didn't like go out of my way to make that happen

Re: First Impressions: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Is An Attempt To Catch The Hardcore Again

Xansies

@bransby "real time". It's essentially like Xenoblade. One could make the argument that cool down systems like Xenoblade and this are a version of the active time battle system from older final fantasy games. Id make that argument. Whether you can move around or not you're still just waiting on a bar to fill to take your turn. With cool down systems like this it's just several bars and very fast turn, but it's still waiting on a bar to fill so you can do anything. The counter is that is it turn based is there's never really a moment where everything is on cool down and that's fair. Still just feels like very fast turn based to me, though. If atb is turn based what does just doing the bar per skill really change things?

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Is Now Double The Height Of The Wii Era

Xansies

Guys? Really? Come on did you have nothing else today? It's been 20 years. The whole market is more than double what it was in the wii era. I mean, the switch did very well, but them doing better than 20 years ago and doing reasonably well would be obvious that they are valued more now than 20 years ago

Re: Dbrand 'Joy-Lock' Replacements Now Available Following Killswitch Joy-Con "Controversy"

Xansies

@Geit_de Actually, no. case manufacturers were working entirely off of a spec sheet and 3d printed models before the switch 2 came out. Nintendo didn't give anyone a pre-release switch 2. This caused some problem with basically all of them. There's a little gap between the tablet and the controllers so that the controllers don't leverage themselves off. Clearly, nintnedo likely encountered this problem themselves. The grips specifically, not the case, bridged the gap and the allowed the controller to press against the tablet and leverage themselves off. They Aristotle'd, basically. They gave the Joycons a place to stand and those removed themselves from the tablet lol. The new grips literally just have some material cut free so the gap is intact and some more material added so that the grips are braced onto the controller so they don't come off easily. Its possible the grips weigh more. But they weighed a few grams, maybe an ounce, so, really, it doesn't matter lol.

Re: Dbrand 'Joy-Lock' Replacements Now Available Following Killswitch Joy-Con "Controversy"

Xansies

I'll be real, mine came in a month ago. To fix the controllers from falling off from then to now all I had to do was push them in a bit. I mean they're make the switch 2 much more playable because I've said this whole time the switch 2 is far too thin, but I personally didn't have a problem and I'm kinda just cool with the redesign so at least it's for sure (maybe) not a problem.

Re: "We Answer To Nobody But You, The Audience" - Digital Foundry Is Now Fully Independent

Xansies

@smoreon I mean, they design theyre consoles for their games first and foremost it's fair to say. I think they care more about third parties after the lack of those is one of the main things that killed the Wii u (the lack of games at all killed it), but really they seem to give their stuff only the level of hardware they want to use. Who knows if that'll prove correct later on. I think nothing will outsell it, but gamers that continue to buy games might move on except for the occasional first party.

Re: Mina The Hollower On Switch 2 Supports 120fps

Xansies

@KoopaTheGamer this is important. People were all crazy about the ghosting issue with the switch 2 screen and the defense of it was basically that it's not noticeable. which is subjective in the first place, but I don't think it's generally noticeable either, unless you're playing a sidescroller. Every one I've played you can notice the latency because of how sidescroller work.

Re: UFO 50 Gets A Surprise Shadow Drop On Switch Today

Xansies

@Suketoudara I mean, not a lot of people are calling out how weird they're acting. I feel like the way their doing this is going to be a serious mistake. One bad game and this strategy falls apart because they are barely outlining what their games are until like a week before release with mkw and dk. I don't think Sony's handheld will outsell nintendo, but it's possible Nintendo is doing them a favor lol

Re: UFO 50 Gets A Surprise Shadow Drop On Switch Today

Xansies

@Suketoudara no, I been saying this for months. The marketing team is absolutely out of their mind. Like with the whole Pauline thing. Why fake a cover art and trailers when you're just going to reveal it three weeks later? Like, the only way this makes sense is a awkward play at viral marketing in which they leak the art through Nintendo of Korea themselves. Even then, just why? People told me because of spoilers, but she's on the damn box. The only reason her being there was a spoiler was because of some nonsensical decision by Nintendo. There's a lot of little things like what you mentioned and how they showed MKW, but this one is the biggest example of them just almost being incompetent — or at least very weird and cagey. DK sold because it was very good and that had probably nothing with how it was marketed. Judging by what I saw on the internet, not many people were even a little interested until it came out and turned out likely be a goty contender. That's gonna bite them if they have a game that's not very good. Hell, mkw probably wouldn't have sold well if it wasn't literally bundled with the switch 2.

Re: Street Fighter 6's First Season 3 DLC Character Is Out Now, Here's A Look

Xansies

I mean, I was up in the air on whether to get guilty gear or this, but the question now is more Lucy from cyberpunk or C.viper. I have to go with my girl luce. I also suck at street fighter and KoF, but can hold my own in anime fighters lol. Besides smash anime games are the only ones I can actually play at any reasonable level

Re: Opinion: Can We Stop Comparing Donkey Kong Bananza's Tactile Thrills To Odyssey Now?

Xansies

@breach187 Man, you realize we're in an indie game surge like the one that happened like fifteen years ago, right? Most game studios have to basically become Disney and play it very safe because of ballooning budgets. This has turned a lot of people like you and me, a little (but I'm not going to pretend I don't like a good ghost of wherever game and such) against these games. Because of this, you have a ***** ton of amazing narrative and gameplay first indie games. Like a hundred of em. Nintendo has brand to lean on and it's really their main tool they have. They can be more free because people will by whatever if it's got a big name character attached so they can experiment more as long as those experiments work (psst, Disney is failing the same game. It could backfire for Nintendo). Also, limiting the hardware also kinda by default keeps costs down doesn't it? Cant spend millions on raytracing and other ***** if those features dont quite work on your thing.

Regardless, this indie thing actually happens in movies in cycles as well. Every thirty years or so in movies this is the deal. Movies also have this going for them at the moment funny enough and for the same reason.Games are getting old enough to see the same cycle. It's like the fourthish time by my count. It's like every 10-15 years on the dot. Tech balloons budgets, audiences moves to indie games and smaller more niche genres or become disenfranchised because the games quality gets worse and samey because companies have to recoup more money, the bubble pops, things stablize when the costs of the tech goes down and and a small company has a big hit and people forgets this happensliterally every fifteen years until it happens again. It's almost clockwork at this point lol. This literally kinda why Nintendo exists as it does, as it happens. They caught/caused a resurgence in the 80s. Also one reason companies like devolver and Id and remedy (probably better to use valve as an example) and cdpr got big. Happens so regularly you can bet on it..Im pretty sure I wrote this post in 2010 as well lol. Seriously.

Re: Review: Dear Me, I Was... (Switch 2) - A Bold, Heartfelt, Wordless Visual Novel

Xansies

@Coalescence I mean, is bad voice acting still a thing? The sort of career of videogames and anime voice acting has been more legitimized as "real" acting (though there still needs more work to be done and they are generally paid better (still not great) and actors are just more talented as time goes on like how any new industry goes. There are some stinkers, but not that many. Usually it's a c list Japanese game without the budget to hire experienced professionals that suffer. Which I guess this would be, so point taken. My point is with the rise of performance capture over the last ten years, the difference between the jobs of a videogame voice actor and like an actor who works on marvel or Star wars projects is very blurred. It's about the same thing now because of stagecraft and cgi for high budget games like GTA and such

Re: Octopath 0 Is A Game-Key Card On Switch 2, And Square Enix Has "No Plans" For A Switch 1 Upgrade Option

Xansies

@CANOEberry it's an markup purchase on the base PS5, but yeah, I forgot the series x had one

Anyway, the slim is the one people buy anyway now and it has a drive as an additional purchase and so does the PS5 pro, which is 700 bucks and for enthusiasts. Which means they don't ship with a disk drive. Whether the statement was strictly true that no other base console has a media reader (the series X does, which, again, I always forget exists) the sentiment is true that dude, every other console has one available for more money. The base anything is the one without a disc drive. Really the issue I chose the word shipped. Base is more accurate. One out of 7 consoles has a disc drive without it being a markup or additional accessory, essentially. So that's 2 out of 8 including the switch and people are pissed at nintnedo for I think no reason because this ***** is dying and it having physical games at all is good. Man, the point is physical games are dead as hell. They've been dying for years and now they're on their last breath. Physical games will be like vinyl in a few years at best because no one wants to sell when most people buy digital anyway

Re: EA Doesn't Currently Have Plans To Bring Battlefield 6 To Switch 2

Xansies

Would it even run or would it be like outlaws and "run"? Listen, we're on a Nintendo news site. We all know in our hearts that has time goes on we shouldnt expect major spec chasing AAA games. These things don't even run well on things like the ally x or Z series. I don't think people should pretend every game is possible on the switch or can be made to run in a state that's even worth it.

Re: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Gets Free Switch 2 Performance Patch

Xansies

@Pak-Man I think the game key drama is internet only. From what I've seen around about how people buy games the vast majority choose digital because its, you know, much more convenient. If you don't resell games and have stable Internet the only real downside to the game keys is ideological. Some dude here even said he had switch carts already die of old age and these things just aren't nes cartridges.

Re: Octopath Traveler 0 Will Bring More Adventures To Switch 1 & 2 This Year

Xansies

@Coalescence there been two. If you mean the hd-2d, j agree. They're doing the same ***** they've been doing for a decade of taking older games they did and then later popular games others did and just making new versions, now it's just in 2dhd because they're attempts at this haven't done amazing. Elliot is literally ys and I guess I'm the only one that thinks 0 looks a lot like suikoden. Whether it's an adaptation of champions or not, mechanically form the like minute we've seen it looks like suikoden

Re: Octopath 0 Is A Game-Key Card On Switch 2, And Square Enix Has "No Plans" For A Switch 1 Upgrade Option

Xansies

@Friendly publishers don't want to make physical games, period. Nintendo,.you'll notice, is still making all their games physical. It's other publishers who aren't. The other consoles don't even ship with physical media readers any more. Honestly this key card thing is the only thing keeping physical media alive because if say Ubisoft, SE, EA, everybody else has their way there would be absolutely no physical media. Taking a worse version isn't great,.but the alternative was having no physical copy at all. Publishers are choosing the key card option, but they'd rather choose digital only,.for sure.

Re: Square Enix Is Bringing A Brand New HD-2D RPG To Switch 2 Next Year

Xansies

@Medic_alert that wasn't the main thing so I don't know why they picked this and not OP0. That was supposed to be the last second good news Nintendo does. And it was. I mean, I said it just now but it looks like they're trying to make suikoden. Suikoden is sick. The writing in the octopath games is good. The bad part about the worst suikoden games was the writing. Checking my math,I m hyped as hell

I said in a comment yesterday I was hoping for a fire emblem remake because Fe is maybe my favorite franchise overall, but suikoden 2/5 are on my list of best jrpgs and so is OP2. Octopath suikoden is still very good news for me. But it's not clear that's what it is, it just looks exactly like it from the shot of the battle and the base builder. It's not like you have to jump far to arrive at "suikoden"

Re: Feature: Nintendo Partner Direct Predictions - What Do You Expect To See?

Xansies

I think age of imprisonment is likely enough. It’s a second party game and it’s not a big hitter. Yes, it’s zelda, but it’s also a musou game. The last one i think was announced on one of these

Now if you want mydream that won’t happen, fire emblem 4 remake. A mainline game would be a big boy direct, but a remake might hypothetically get showm on a showcase, I wish. I’m just saying, 2nd party devs are partners lol. Let me dream. I think a release date for Zelda might actually happen though. Wast there also a Zelda themed crypt of the necromancer shown during a partner direct? Just saying, there might be an exclusive in there and I pray that it's fe4 remake lol

Re: Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase Announced For Tomorrow, 31st July 2025

Xansies

@RupeeClock that's actually where I'm at. Really I don't care when Metroid comes out. The said this year and it's probably not August so it's not even that important now. But there are a few switch 1 games that I would buy if they had updates like Xenoblade x. Really I want to see more enhanced versions in general because I was one of those people complaining about the switch 1 games performance since 2017

Re: NIS America: Trails Beyond The Horizon Switch 2 Game-Key Card Release Is "Most Beneficial Option" For Fans

Xansies

I'm not going to say all this stuff about game keys is performative, but I genuinely haven't bought a physical game since 2012. It would be physically impossible for me to care less. This isn't exactly true. I've bought a couple physical copies out of convenience and received a couple as gifts. I wished immediately they were digital. Physical is even a bad way to preserve modern games. They're literally just an inconvenience
