@SalvorHardin i think if they were going to do a sequel/successor to mania it would be by the same dev team, mania was made by a lot of people outside of sega themselves, so i have a feeling sega/sonic team wouldnt play to big of a part in a sequel
@Bret @NintendoByNature ohhh i had no idea about that show. that show was out just after i turned three so i had no knowledge of it. thanks for clarifying for me👍
@Dev9417 yeah mario wasnt NEARLY as bad as the internet thought it would be, his voice sounded completely natural to play mario. there were a few parts where i went "oh right thats chris pratt" just as i did with ben schwartz as sonic, but other than that he fits in just fine as mario
@NintendoByNature yeah people like to act like chris pratt isnt a va. the only reason he got most of his big movie roles was because of the lego movie, because of how stalar his va work in that movie was.
@Vexx234 i think the lack of lip sync is what takes me out of it more than the voices themselves, i personally really like zeldas performance in Age of calamity and Botw. (though maybe it doesnt bother me as botw was my first zelda game) if they were to lip sync im sure i could be taken into it more.
@EarthboundBenjy to be fair all of the boost games dont have the spindash outside of classic sonic levels in gens and forces if i remember correctly. so the spindash will be something new to go along with the boost formula.
@BlubberWhale id say 30 fps is more for casual games, like mario or zelda, and 60+ is needed for fps and the such where those few extra frames can be crucial. like playing ultrakill at 30 fps is unplayable for me, even as someone who is pretty good at the game.
@KBuckley27 to be fair optimisation plays a key role in ports, like a gtx 1050, which is more powerful than what the ps4 uses runs red dead 2 horribly even at the lowest settings, but the ps4 version is optimised for the system and is incredibly well done.
@Grackler nintendo has always cared about their lore, i mean just look at the lore they made for splatoon, especially with how tragic the lore of splatoon 3 is.
@Yannis no problem, scruffy is a great youtuber overall if your interested in how the smaller details of games works. he mainly focuses on sound design but all of his videos are a great watch.
@Yannis they are a little computer generated but its a filter over their voice to make it sound more like how a squid would talk, other than that they are actually saying all the gibberish. Youtuber Scruffy does a great job at figuring out how they did it, heres his vid on it if your interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVA48I2n-qQ
@liveswired nintendo just needs to get more servers up in the us. they have 3 servers over in japan while north america only has one spanning the entire continent if i remember correctly. so it's really no wonder their servers are crap for us in the U.S.
@StarPoint probably through a cloud service, there is no way that they will be able to port games like MWII without making the game look like it was made for the n64.
@Maxz yeah even someone younger like myself always found old 16 bit graphics and music so charming. love that the mario and luigi series is getting some love from nintendo again.
@Selim for the switch 18 gb is freaking massive. most games dont take up much more than 5 gb. all the splatoon games combined don't even come close only adding up to around 8 gb.
@arabiansanchez yeah and even from devs outside of the switch, doom eternal is 80 gb on the ps4 and they brought it down to just 18.8 for the switch port. its damn impressive how they do this kind of stuff with hardware equal to a xbox 360
@iLikeUrAttitude yeah like the 360 era had games just as big and sometimes take hours to download. just goes to show how much this tech has improved over just a short amount of time.
@Hck yeah the average game prices in japan range from 5000-7000 yen, a $60 game over here is nearly 8000 yen, with a $70 game being nearly 9200 yen. so yeah, definitely wouldn't be losing money having people pay $10 less
@KingBowser problem is with the repair program is that if you send in your special edition joy cons you might not get them back. so its reliability isnt that great.
@BrianJL they actually got pretty creative with labo. if i remember correctly there would be different patterns that the joycon would sense from the reflective stickers. the vr set also used it for detecting where the joycon was relative to the switch. Its pretty damn creative.
@PikaPhantom I think the boost should be treated as more of a skill based mechanic in adventure style zones. A highly powerful burst of speed for experienced players to use to get through levels fast. So you could choose what play style to use, want to blast through stages as if you were a speedrunner? use the boost. want a slower paced but still fun platforming type playstyle? don't use the boost. It'd be kinda like how the modern sonic mod works in Sonic robo blast 2.
@Snatcher a lot of people were expecting it to look god awful, most switch ports of new gen games look fine, nothing great but fine. Ive played the doom eternal and it takes two ports and both are fine graphics wise. switch ports are more of a last resort, if anything, but some people are really picky i suppose
I personally think its tears of pain, this is clearly some type of fallen kingdom in which iss society died long long ago, possibly due to some type of major tragedy. it honestly should've been called "Tears of the Fallen Kingdom" as It gives hint to the fact that we are exploring an abandoned civilization with remnants of what little life was left. And possibly relieving old pain. but thats just my interpretation
@ggnorekthx Yeah older games make more sense to emulate because people are constantly modding to further improve the experience. Like Nerrels majora's mask Hd. Pirating is a bit of a different story, if its an older game like n64 than its not to big of a deal. but brand new games? Absolutely not
@MajinSoul Well not everyone wants amiibo just as a thing for their collection. there are some cool features that amiibo have in botw. such as the wolf link amiibo, you get a wolf companion that follows you around, that's freaking awesome. Still the way they locked returning to the sky from anywhere is a bit annoying, but like you said you're never too far away from a save point
If this is the only qol improvement that they do then it shouldn't be too bad. i'm sure that they will have others that are in the base game themselves. Plus nintendo already does things like this in their games. In games like mario party they have entire game modes dedicated to amiibo. Or in Mario Odyssey if you scan a bowser amiibo it shows you the location of purple coins. But the price is inexcusable for what the figure does in game. But too be fair there is never really a time where you are more than a 2 minute walk away from a statue. Its just a little something you get for buying an amiibo. Lets just hope they don't continue with these kinds of things during development.
I really hope that if/when they release a switch pro they have a way for people who have the og switch to have 4k support. Like when you hook it up to a buffed up doc you get 4k. i mean they are kinda already do something like that. In doom eternal the framerate drops to 15 fps when in handheld when watching a cutscene, but remain at 30fps when docked. and in bowser's fury the framerate drops from 60 to 30 fps in handheld mode.
@SNES64DD yeah i docked addon for the switch so it can run 4k makes more sense as they still probably want to keep the switch portable, because that's the entire selling point of the switch
@Vsaxo27 well if we want a nintendo switch system to be made that can run 4k(there wont be) it needs to be docked. do you realize how big the xbox series x and ps5 are and how much hardware is needed? it completely impossible for nintendo to make a 4k portable system, and its improbable that nintendo will release a 4k console. as they always release next gen hardware a few years after sony and microsoft. so its safe to say nintendo wont be doing anything with new hard ware until a few more years down the line. but if i'm wrong then this post will go perfectly in r/agedlikemilk.
Maybe its code for a console in development. Aula seems like a name for a brand new console. i really doubt they would release a 4k switch when the current model cant even pull off 1080p 60 fps in their own games. the switches development started in 2015, they may just be adding the code for a new console to the switch so they can develop games and both the switch and this new console. but this is just pure speculation so what the heck do I know.

Re: Random: 'Sonic 5' Is Trending, And No, It Doesn't Mean 'Sonic 5' Is Definitely A Thing
@Xiovanni mania was treated by many as the TRUE successor to the original trilogy, considering how awful sonic 4 was.

@Korgon yup, love how their statement on why its $70 was essentially just "because we can". didnt even bother to give us specifics.

@iLikeUrAttitude yeah like the 360 era had games just as big and sometimes take hours to download. just goes to show how much this tech has improved over just a short amount of time.
Re: Poll: Would You Pay $70 For The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?
@Selim yeah storage wise totk is going to take up a whopping 18.2 gb compared to botw's 3 gb.

@Korgon yeah they cant make the excuse that its "next gen" like with the Ps5 and Series X. The switch barely crosses the line of ps3 graphics.

Re: Sonic Frontiers Director Talks About Dropping Boost Mechanic In Next Game
@Jireland92 and get rid of 2d as well! it is a horrible pace breaker in many of the games.
Re: Sonic Frontiers Director Talks About Dropping Boost Mechanic In Next Game
@Nintendo_Thumb They really should just start hiring fan game devs, because at this point they're the only ones who can make 3d sonic work.
