Re: Nintendo Switch Nindies Showcase Summer 2018 Announced For 28th August

Tarolusa

Okay stop with the Nindies now and actually show off your big exclusive games / 3rd party ports. Yes having a healthy dose of indie games is great, but is that seriously the only games they have planned out for the rest of the year? Seriously would it kill them to show off quick new trailers of Fire Emblem and Yoshi and make slight teases about unannounced games they have planned for 2019?

Re: Video: Check Out River Survival, A Brand New Mode Coming To Super Mario Party

Tarolusa

So far it looks great, easily looks like the best one since Mario Party 7, but considering that every game that came out afterwards was utter trash it shouldn't be too surprising. The only problem I have with the game so far it how boring the UI looks, all the past Mario Party games (even 9 and 10) had a very colourful and cute UI while this game has a very basic one (the part where Kamek mentions the "roulette" wheel was the perfect opportunity to spice up the interface by actually including a roulette wheel but it's just more white boxes of texts). Besides from that though, the game looks like it could potentially be very fun and the new river survival mode looks like it will be a lot of hectic fun, something that Mario Party should be.

Re: Rumour: New Nintendo Direct Airing Later Today

Tarolusa

@Spectra Yeah I totally agree with you, Smash looks awesome and it's nice to see so many indie games on the Switch but I'm starting to get really annoyed with just how lackadaisical Nintendo have become as of late. I'm not expecting them show of crap ton of bombshell announcements but I seriously want them to at least show of some of their upcoming games like Super Mario Party, the Let's Go games, the new Fire Emblem game and some sort of new info on Yoshi.

Re: Random: Purple And Yellow Chairs In Smash Bros. Direct Fuel Speculation Waluigi Will Be Playable Fighter

Tarolusa

@Paraka While that was annoying as well, I'd at least give those people the benefit of the doubt that Sora could have the absolute smallest potential in being Smash 4 since he hadn't been confirmed to be an assist trophy so there was a very slim chance of him getting him (we both know the obvious results). But as for this whole Waluigi drama, we all have clear, concise proof that Waluigi is once again only an assist trophy yet there are STILL people finding any scraps of evidence that point to Waluigi possibly being playable. It was funny in Brawl, somewhat funny but slowly becoming irritating with Smash 4 but now it's really becoming insufferable and the whole harrassing sakurai controversy certainly hasn't helped.

Re: Video: New Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Trailer Reveals Gorgeous Region Map And More

Tarolusa

@Tsurii Um...sorry for saying I'm not all the impressed with the gameplay? If you disagree that's fine but I don't see how I was being a smartass. What I mean is, I don't like how a good chunk of the game (the wild battles) have been simplified and that a bunch of trainers have had their pokemon levels heavily reduced. I guess it would have been more accurate if I said the battle system looked unimpressive rather than the gameplay itself.

Re: A Free Demo Of WarioWare Gold Is Available To Download Right Now

Tarolusa

Just played the WarioWare Gold demo and from the short amount of time I played, I loved it. While I would have liked a tad more microgames in each category (instead of repeating the same 5 over and over, I would have liked it if they included at least 8), it's already shaping up to be another excellent WarioWare game and easily my favourite one since Smooth Moves.
One thing that made ecstatic when I was playing the demo is when each after game segment showed all the rewards and bonus modes that will be included in the final game. The reason why I bring this up is because beforehand, I had a slight concern that the game would solely focus on the microgames and completely ignore all the bonus features included in all the prior WarioWare games but I'm glad that's not the case.
So yeah that's my early stance on WarioWare Gold. If you can get past the fact the game is on the 3DS instead of the Switch, I think you should definitely pick this game up if your a fan of the classic WarioWare games, you'll most likely have a blast with it.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Fans Are Harassing Masahiro Sakurai Over Waluigi Snub

Tarolusa

If this is indeed true then this perfectly captures just how self-entitled and toxic the Smash community really is.
If you're annoyed about Waluigi's exclusion from Ultimate and want to express it on your own social media page then go right ahead, but for the love of god do NOT go start harassing a man that probably has a lot more things to be worried about than including your favourite meme character into Smash.

Re: Octopath Traveler Won't Receive DLC According To The Game's Producer

Tarolusa

@Ensemen While I can't speak for everyone, I think that a vast majority of people hate DLC when it's announced to be in the game BEFORE the game has even launched, which makes most people think that the developers are actively locking behind content just to make a few extra bucks while that content should be available from the very get go. If DLC is announced AFTER the game has already launched, I think most people are okay with it since their getting more content to a game they know they liked and would happily play more of. A good example of doing DLC is right is how Mario Kart 8 did it, while a bad example was the Fire Emblem Echoes fiasco.

Re: Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido Has Shockingly Poor Launch In Japan

Tarolusa

I'm not shocked, it's a decent at best mobile game being ported onto the Switch at FULL price. I would have been much genuinely shocked if the game managed to sell more than 15,000 copies. Doesn't have to unique and 'wow' value that Splatoon had or the excellent timing that Arms had. I'd imagine the game would have sold marginally better if it was only half price.
I'm all for Nintendo trying new things and especially creating new IP'S, but they should really be more than just a small puzzle game about sushi.

Re: Video: Fasten Your Seatbelts, The Team Sonic Racing E3 Trailer Has Landed

Tarolusa

@Kimyonaakuma Yeah, even though I love Mario Kart as much as the next guy, it would eventually get stale if that was the only racing game that was available on the Switch which is why I'm happy that this game is also a thing (and also why I hope that the rumoured Star Fox racing game is a legit game).
And thanks, your the first person to compliment my profile pic xD

Re: Pokémon's President Confirms 2019 RPG Will Include Many New Pokémon And Better Graphics

Tarolusa

Also, another thing I really hope they DON'T do is introduce a crap ton of legendary pokemon like they did in Gen 4 and Gen 7 just to pad out the pokedex and make it seem bigger than it actually is. Legendaries are cool, don't get me wrong, but I kinda feel like they lose their value if the game just crams a bunch of new legendaries down your throat. Out of all the gens, I feel like Gen 3 did the legendary roster the best; got your two cover legendaries, the 'other' cover legendary, the small cute one, the extremely mysterious one that no one knew existed at first and a couple of smaller legendaries that while not integral to the plot still exist to give the game life.

Re: Pokémon's President Confirms 2019 RPG Will Include Many New Pokémon And Better Graphics

Tarolusa

I like that they put special emphasis on 'many new pokemon' which I really hope is a sign that the gen 8 games will introduce over 100 new pokemon again. Even though I really liked gen 6 & 7, one thing that always really disappointed me was that both gens introduced a really small amount of new pokemon so with the extra power of the Switch and (hopefully) more creative fuel, GameFreak can easily make up a plethora of new Pokemon for the new games (e.g. anything 120+ is perfectly fine with me).

Re: Team Sonic Racing Arrives This Winter With Sumo Digital In The Driving Seat

Tarolusa

I can't help but feel really bad for the poor guy who posted that tweet, while they're obviously trying to come across as enthusiastic (which they most likely are) you can almost taste the disappointment that the game they and their team were working really hard on and trying to keep a secret for a potential E3 surprise announcement became leaked and completely spoiled the surprise so they just opted to announce in unceremoniously

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Sees Dramatic Rise After Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee Reveals

Tarolusa

@KcebEnyaw Yeah that's one thing about the game that really concerns me. If there are no longer wild pokemon battles in this game which means you can't grind and after you've successfully beaten all the trailer (which, judging by the trailer have been made much easier) how exactly do you level up your Pokemon? I know they said you still gain exp from catching wild pokemon but what else do you do once you've already beaten all the trainers within the area, do you just repeatedly catch pokemon over and over again. Not only will that get REALLY tedious after 20 minutes, but it'll be even worse than the excessive grinding since that at least requires you to be involved in the game. I'm going assume that each trainer battle and wild capture nets you a REALLY large amount of exp to make up for the lack of wild battles but until we know that's the case, it's a part of the game that really concerns me. Hopefully there's a minigame you can play which can help buff up your pokemon once you've run out of options (sorta like the super training minigames in the Gen 6 games but instead of increasing stats, they give you exp).

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Sees Dramatic Rise After Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee Reveals

Tarolusa

@thesilverbrick You perfectly summarised why I'm okay with these games existing. While I understand the disappointment from people having to wait an extra year to get a proper Pokemon game on Switch, I feel like some people are overreacting when their saying this game will have a huge impact on how Pokemon moves forward. I'm almost certain that these game were literally made within a year for the sole purpose of easing the casual crowd into the traditional style of Pokemon so that their not completely alienated when the Gen 8 games come out next year.
It also gives the Gen 8 games an extra year of polish which relieves me because for the past few months, I was really worried that the core gen 8 games would be coming out this year and would end up being a rushed, mediocre product. That COULD still happen but at least the chances are much slimmer now.

Re: Rumour: Fresh Details Of Star Fox: Grand Prix Suggest It's Not Like F-Zero At All, Thanks Very Much

Tarolusa

I stand by my statement that this is game that while sounds weird (and for some really disappointing) in paper, if handled properly it could end being an amazing game that could potentially help Star Fox come out of it's long rut. Just remember, if this game is indeed real and being made by Retro Studio's then the chances of it being great FAR outweighs it's chances of being bad (if it was being made by Arzest then yeeesh I would officially have no hope). If your disappointed in the sound of this and would have rather prefered a more traditional style Star Fox game, that's perfectly understandable but try and reserve judgement on it until you officially see what it looks like.

Re: Feature: Waxing Apocalyptic With The Makers Of Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers

Tarolusa

I'm curious in trying this game out but I've not played the previous two and unless the games have very little connection in terms of story with each other and there's no overarching plot, I'm going to assume I'll have to play the previous ones in order to get the most fun out of it. From people that have played the first two, what was your opinion on them? Great, decent or bad?

Re: Nintendo's E3 2018 Presentation Gets An Official Title

Tarolusa

I'm going to be salty for a second so people can mock me if they want but I kinda like how people's viewpoint on smash games go from "just announced it already, I can't wait any longer!" before they've been officially confirmed but when they do become confirmed the viewpoint changes to "yeah I'm excited about it but it's just another smash game"
Again I know this sounds really salty so people can troll/mock me if they want.

Re: Nintendo's E3 2018 Presentation Gets An Official Title

Tarolusa

@YummyHappyPills I'm pretty sure that for last yea'rs E3 they said they would only be focusing on games that would be released within 2017. They announced Kirby, which was released in 2018, Yoshi and Fire Emblem, which I'm certain will be released later this year and Pokemon, which I'm sceptical on releasing this year but it could happen. Then there's Metroid Prime 4 which I'm pretty confident on will be released in 2019. I think it's way too early to be stating that 2019 (or even 2020) will be absent from this E3 and especially trying to word it as facts.

Re: Nintendo's E3 2018 Presentation Gets An Official Title

Tarolusa

@YummyHappyPills I'm just theorising that they could announce a bunch of new 1st party stuff, not declaring that they'll defintetly be there. Any you do realise that some of the new games they announce at E3 will release after late 2018 and instead in 2019 right? Not all of them are going to released back to back within the timeslot of just 6 months.

Re: Nintendo's E3 2018 Presentation Gets An Official Title

Tarolusa

@YummyHappyPills Not trying to start anything but don't you think it's a bit close-minded to writing off a E3 as being bad before the show has even taken place? Leaks are leaks, they don't hold any water until they've been 100% confirmed and Nintendo could still show off a plethora of awesome looking unnannounced 1st Party games. I do agree with you on the third party stuff though, the only I'm expecting on that front is a late, degraded port of Spyro and maybe something from Capcom or Sega.

Re: Koei Tecmo Is Interested In Working With Mario

Tarolusa

Now that I'm imagining it, I would be all for a Musou-style Mario game where instead of everyone using traditional weapons like swords, lances and axes they instead use more absurd weapons like Hammers, Parasols and banana rocket launchers. A cartoon-y aesthetic and charming writing/humour would also be really appreciated
I would also love it that alongside the traditional Musuo hack n slash gameplay, they tried incorporating some platforming and other standard mario elements into the mix such as having warp-pipes that allow you to traverse semi-large portions of the map and have pow-blocks spawn from time to time so that you can safely deal with a large number of enemies at one.

Re: Rumour: Retro Studios Is Working On A Secret Star Fox: Grand Prix Title For Switch

Tarolusa

This sounds like a weird idea that could work extremely well if executed probably and with Retro Studios being behind it, there's a good chance it could work well. I know most Nintendo fans will despise it and not give it a chance due to it being a spin-off and think we've all established just how much they detest spin-offs but I'm going to give if it a chance to impress me if this rumour does turn out to be real.

Re: I Grew Up With Nintendo And Will Respect Its Traditions, Says New President Shuntaro Furukawa

Tarolusa

I hope that this president has the strengths that both Iwata and Kimishima had while negating their weaknesses.
What I mean is that with Iwata; his major strength is that he was clearly passionate about gaming and you could tell that he absolutely loved his company and his work while his major weakness was that he wasn't exactly the greatest with handling the business and marketing aspect of the company, judging by how badly Nintendo was doing during 2012-2016.
As for Kimishima, he was the complete opposite, he was much more business savvy than Iwata was and all the articles stating how much of profit Nintendo has made this fiscal year (as well as the excellent sales of Odyssey and BOTW) clearly shows how much better he was running the company, but his major weakness to me was that he came across a 'business guy first, gamer second', I never really got the feeling that gaming wasn't all that important him. He just seemed very cold and corporate to me.
I just hope that this new president has an obvious passion for gaming as well as being an excellent president who can continue maintaining the success that Nintendo has been achieving this past year.

Re: Spyro: Reignited Trilogy Is Finally Officially, But Switch Is Left Out In The Cold

Tarolusa

I've heard some people say that the reason why there wasn't a Switch logo present at the end of the trailer is because Nintendo might be planning on showing it off coming to Switch separately at a future direct/E3, which I see being plausible. Even if it doesn't come to Switch though, while really disappointing (and not shocking in the least), I'm at least glad that a lot of other people can have fun with it and no one can deny that this remake already looks breathtaking!

P.S. At least Nintendo fans aren't the only ones getting the short end of the stick since it also seems like PC owners are missing out which I find really baffling

Re: Soapbox: What The Upcoming Pokémon Switch RPG Can Learn From Recent Pokémon Games

Tarolusa

@MarcelRguez Then it seems like the Pokemon fanbase will constantly be dissatisfied with whatever product GameFreak pumps out since they always change their minds on what they want. They complain that one gen is too easy and then later complain that they next gen is too hard or that one gen has way too small of a focus on story and then complain the next one has too much story.
Also, not buying that 'Breath of the Wild easily debunks the whole thing as well' statement, BoTW is probably the most divisive game in the franchise alongside Skyward Sword

Re: Soapbox: What The Upcoming Pokémon Switch RPG Can Learn From Recent Pokémon Games

Tarolusa

@MarcelRguez Don't know if that 'X cycle' jab was aimed at me or Serebii but if was aimed at me, my point is less on dismissing genuine criticism on the game but more on the fact that when a new game launches, suddenly everyone who showed great hostility towards the previous game (e.g. SuMo) now suddenly love it and are instead hating on the newer game instead (which is what I honestly can see happening when the Switch game drops either this year or next year)

Re: Soapbox: What The Upcoming Pokémon Switch RPG Can Learn From Recent Pokémon Games

Tarolusa

@Serebii I feel like that every Nintendo franchise, with the exclusion of Mario (since most people seem to adore Odyssey) goes through these cycles of where the most recent games in the franchise get a lot of hate and for not being like the previous game in the franchise, until of a sudden a vast majority of people who previously bashed the game now suddenly love it and are now instead hating on the newest game. Zelda is obviously the clearest example of this nonsense

Re: Metroid: Samus Returns Makes Modest Chart Debut in Japan, as Switch Still Dominates

Tarolusa

The other thing that upsets me that unlike Federation Force, which had every right to crash and burn, Samus Returns definetly deserves to sell more than only 30,000 units. Again, I know the numbers are nothing terrible or even 'doom and gloom' worthy but I can't help but feel even more skeptical about the future of metroid (or to be more precise the future of 2D metroid). But on a more optimistic note at least there's always Prime 4 to fall back on which I think will sell MUCH more units just for the sheer fact it's on the switch.
