Ubisoft has released a brand new trailer for Starlink: Battle for Atlas during Gamescom 2018.
This latest video gives us a slightly closer look at some of the open worlds available to explore within the game, each one seemingly being made up of an entirely different set of creatures, flora, and vibrant colour schemes. It also shares the story of the Forgotten Legion, detailing how players must fight against them to save Atlas.
In the game, you join a group of heroic interstellar pilots, all dedicated to saving the star system from this evil robot force. Of course, as previously revealed, you'll be able to build your own modular Starship model, attach it to your controller, and take part in epic space battles. You can equip your model with different parts, with your Starship changing on screen in real time, all while assembling your fleet and mixing up your pilots, ships, and weapons to create your own play style.
In case you'd somehow forgotten, or if you missed it the first time around, Star Fox will be included in the Switch version of the game with exclusive add-on content featuring Fox McCloud, his trusty Arwing, and bonus missions.
Are you excited to explore the worlds of Atlas when the game launches on 16th October? Let us know below.

No Man's Sky with action.
No man's sky arcade version?
Looks pretty good. The art direction reminds me of No Mans Sky.
I don’t know if there are any on foot sections, but the worlds look like they would be great to explore.
This game looks so awesome. The Star Fox content is just icing on the cake.
Definitely getting that starter pack. Dont know about any extra ships and stuff yet.
Is the game playable without the toy parts? If so, it looks very interesting. But I'm definitely not up for the ship-models on my controller.
@Gibb very good question. Does anyone know? 😊
the same question like other people, Do we need use the ships and others toys to play this game?
Be honest, how many Nintendo fans are buying this game solely because of Fox being in it?
@Geeks4Life @Diuran @Gibb I think it's been stated many times elsewhere, the toys are optional.
I'm waiting for the reviews/early fallout before committing at this stage.
Not that I've played No Man's Sky, but it does seem to be like what I hear of No Man's Sky, but with some story tacked on. Its crying out to be able to land and go on foot.
I'm really looking forward to this. I just hope you don't need to buy the silly toys to enjoy the game and it plays well in handheld mode.
@Nincompoop I'd rather play No man's sky.
I love the design of the planets and wildlife. Reminds me a lot of Xenoblade. I really hope this turns out well. It certainly looks very promising!
@Tarolusa The fact Nintendo are happy for one of their core IP's to feature in the game does bode well for the quality of the experience. My interest has definitely grown the more I've seen. It looked like a late-to-the-party toys-to-life game the first time I saw it, but now it looks like an enjoyable Star Fox meets No Man's Sky experience with optional toys. I'll need to see reviews, get a better understanding of the gameplay loop and story, and also be reassured that the toys are entirely optional and don't hide any content you can't otherwise get ahold of... like, can you even play as Fox without purchasing a toy of his character...? I really hope not, but I have a feeling that may be the case. Seems an odd one for Nintendo when they have their own Fox toy in Amiibo form...?
@Geeks4Life @gibb during E3 I think they said there will also be digital versions of the toys in the game
It is just too bad that this one requires a SD card. I won’t get it just because of it.
Like many of the comments, it's an intriguing game, but I'm not likely to play it with the toys and wonder if anything will be exclusively locked behind them. On top of that, I'll need a review, Fox or no Fox.
Looks better than Star Fox wii u lol
I'll be playing Everspace
This keeps looking better and better, definitely interested, and not worried at all about the toys, since it was already made quite clear some time ago, that these are optional.
I also don't think anything will be locked behind the toys, seeing as Ubisoft hasn't mentioned anything about that. All they have said is that all the ships and characters are also available in the game in digital form, so you don't need the toys, if you're not interested in using or collecting these.
@gcunit I've sunk some time into NMS, and from what I've seen of Starlink the only major thing it has in common is the art direction.
Everspace has the same feel as this game, I wonder how they will compare.
Preordered since it was announced and available. Can't wait to play it. I wonder if the Fox and Falco Amiibo do anything in the game.
@ThanosReXXX @MeloMan
From their official website it looks like nothing will be exclusively locked to the toys but a lot of the content e.g. other ships and characters might require purchasing to unlock?
The switch version gives you both the standard ship and the Arwing so seems to be the best value by far
@AJWolfTill I think that, seeing as you will also be able to acquire the content that comes with the ships, in digital form, probably by buying add-ons either in-game or from the eShop, that all stuff that can be unlocked with toys, will also be unlockable in digital form, by purchases.
Far as I can tell, from all they've shown so far, toys are completely optional.
wow, now I'm on board with this. Good looking trailer. Let's buy the &%$£ out of this game people, show Ubisoft that the switch is worth more investment. We wanna see more Ubisoft support.
They really should have just done this as a Switch exclusive or release it now in August - that has been dead.
Nobody is going to care for this in October anywhere else. Probably why they also have AC: Odyssey in October.
