Re: Rumour: Netflix App Ready For Switch, All It Needs Is Nintendo's Go-Ahead

TDS_Computer

I still use my Wii U fairly often for Netflix and Amazon Video. I look forward to when my Switch can do the same. I use my phone with my Chromecast fairly often, and switch between watching something on TV back onto my phone - and I would do the same thing with my Switch. No need to pause a movie when you have to go to the bathroom! Just take it with you...

Re: Review: Metroid: Samus Returns (3DS)

Very excited for this game. Had never played a Metroid game until Prime 3 on my Wii, but I quickly fell in love with them. I actually quite liked Metroid Other M (gasp) - and I have been itching to replay that game. The trouble is that my son is going to want to borrow the new 3DS game.... Maybe I need to buy two copies.

@speedracer216
I have to respectfully disagree on most of your points.
Memory problems? I bought a 64 Gig SD card for less than $30 - how is that a problem?
Build quality not addressed? Like the joy-con problem that was identified, and repaired for free within a week or two of discovering the problem? Almost anything else is anecdotal. A few Switches with problems out of Millions sold is to be expected.
HD Rumble? Nobody cares? It is one of the greatest features on the console! Try turning it off after using it - I bet you would miss it right away.

I have to respectfully disagree with the "6" this game was given. While it certainly is very strongly influenced by Zelda, it really is a fun game. It translated well from tablets to the switch, and the controls make all the difference in the world. The graphics are lovely, the gameplay is fun - the repetitiveness of enemies is no bigger problem with this game than it is with the older Zelda's. I also think the story is good, too.
If I were to add anything, it would be HD Rumble. I am so used to it on the switch now, that games without it feel flatter.
This game deserves a 7.5 at the minimum, and would be an 8 if they added HD rumble, and maybe a little motion control option for tossing bombs and such.
Give it a shot.

Re: Nintendo is Working on a Fix for the 'Sentient Switch' Screenshot Issue

TDS_Computer

I have not seen the random screenshot issue that was mentioned, but at least four times since I downloaded Minecraft the game has popped back to the home screen without me touching the home button. I thought at first I had inadvertantly pressed it, but after a few times I realized it was doing it by itself. The Switch is so fast at popping in and out of the home menu it has not been a big inconvenience, but is nice to see it aknowledged!

@Equinox
46 years old and I love the game. Hundreds of hours of exploring, surviving and building on my PC, PS3 and tablet - and I will do it again on the switch. The game is what you make of it. Some enjoy creative mode and just building huge worlds - some love the fun multiplayer competitive modes, I myself love the survival aspects of it - staying with nothing and trying to survive to build a safe haven to live. I bet if you say down with an open mind and just tried it for a few hours, you might just love it.

@AhabSpampurse about the wires adapter - I think he is just being honest and straight forward. Wireless has much, much more latency than wired connections no matter what. It is possible to tweak some wireless settings to improve connections, but most people do not have the technical know how to tweak their routers. I have a PS3 and the wired connection has far better performance online over the wireless.

Re: Nicalis Boss Tyrone Rodriguez Thinks The Wii U GamePad Is "A Waste Of Time And Resources"

Our family uses the Gamepad daily. My son loves to watch Netflix on it, and we use off screen play for many of our games.
coming from the PC world, I never could stand split screen play. When the Gamepad allowed to play lego games with one on the gamepad and one on the screen, it was awesome! We also play Tank, Tank Tank, Mario games, Nintendoland and others using the gamepad.
In a nutshell, many of us use the gamepad and enjoy it!

Re: The 3DS Celebrates Its Third Birthday in Japan

I bought one the first week, and love it! I just upgraded to an XL over Christmas and gave my 3DS to my son. I own a nice tablet and a Galaxy 4 phone, and not one single game even approaches the fun we have had with our 3DS' s. There are still multiple games on my "must buy" list that have been out for over a year or two. Just so many fun things to do with it!

Re: Edge Of Reality Working On Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark Wii U, WayForward Handling 3DS Version

TDS_Computer

All the whining about the Bay movies! You all do realize the movies are based on a toy franchise, right? As in toys for kids, right? What do you expect the movies to do? I enjoyed all of them for what they were. Entertainment. When movies are made, there is no time to go into a dep backstory that the few thousand superfans want to see. Everything must fit into a 1 1/2 hour movie, so compromises need to be made. Even the awkward decision to have Shia LeDouche in the movie was balanced by having Megan Fox...

Re: Nintendo of America Issues Refunds After Warner Bros. Cancels Batman: Arkham Origins Wii U DLC

@Kamalisk yes. That is how game programming works across multiple platforms using different hardware. One button exists that converts every piece of code from xbox360, ps3, ps and Wii U. That is also how cross platform games are made. Just click a button and Presto! New code for a new console! The gamepad, on the otherhand, requires the programmers to flick an actual switch to add full gamepad support. The Kinect for the Xbox is a dial that is turned. See how easy game programming is!

Re: Ubisoft Describes the Origins of Just Dance and Reflects on its Success

TDS_Computer

My daughter has Just Dance 2013 for the Wii U and it is a big hit at sleepovers and weekend get togethers with her friends. We often have four kids dancing and one on the Gamepad drawing on the screen. I would love to have a parental option to block certain songs, as there are always one or two that a 12 year old really does not need to see the lyrics to!
It is hard to justify a yearly update, as they still have fun with the version they have. Maybe the 2015 version...
