Having a blast revisiting some of these games here. And even trying some of them for the first time due to sales. Good conversions and any success is well deserved on Switch, if you ask me
So. Wrong keys? Spelling errors? No way to do multitouch?
Please NL remove this or edit the article to be less of a copy paste of a press release for a crappy product with a happy tone. We are starting to drown in shovel ware.
Some great improvements. But. It's at times like seeing classic SW movies being remastered. Sharp, but with emotions and nuances gone. The intro? Just that. Blue skies, light and darkness and metal to a green fog? Then following: Characters gone from tanned to cartoonish sharp and pale.
Hmmm. I would propbably still get it, while trying to forget that the original would not look good on a modern tv.
Never that big a fan of Square Enix stuff and JRPG - even if I really want to love them, I havent since uhm... Eternal Sonata. But I have to say I was really impressed with the demo and on a 49" TV I think it looks very nice. Actually one of the prettiest games so far (if we ignore Warframe). At least for me this will be a buy if the demo keeps delivering... funnily enough I find the music annoying and hope I can turn it down a notch in the final version. 😅
On a more serious note. Loved Space Harrier as a kid, got it since. Was wondering why I loved it. Cannot buy yet another classic SEGA game for the umpteenth time.
I totally get how things can work in real life and why on some level it can make sense. But to me it is as fun as playing an arcade racing game and then having to be stuck in rush hour or dealing with gasoline prices. It takes away the fun and joy. Specifically in Zelda while it might give a layer of strategy it completely removed my joy of finding loot or new weapons. It was like «well, I better not get too happy or attached, it will be gone soon». And Zelda - to me - is about exploring, upgrading your gear (that lasts) and really so much of an action game that this layer feels like an annoying obstacle. But hey, some people love it, just not me. And that what I base my buying decision on: my preference.
Edit: It does sound more fit for this game though. And if a demo convinces me, I am not that adamant on avoiding the mechanic, I would just rather be without.
Just got Quest Hunter for Switch, looks like a very casual Diablo style game, but was at a decent price, and have solid reviews on Steam. This weeks surprise for me.
Awesome trailer, awesome game, awesome community. Not playing it as much these days after I kind of fell in love with playing the Hildryn Warframe. Kind of removed any goals I used to have in the game, a bit odd really, but being super happy with the frame gave me less reason to play. I do still visit it every week to play a bit as the core gameplay is so great, and the Switch conversion is incredible.
Smooth: "Presumably designed as a cross between Lara Croft, Dante from Devil May Cry and a Harley Quinn cosplayer who ran out of money part way through their costume" 😄
This trailer looks so much better than the recent gameplay preview we saw here, that looked like everything was in small, confined, circular arenas, with unconvincing characters. There's hope after all. 😄
I am mainly annoyed that Zelda, which I have digital, keeps ending up as the most recent game played, even if I don't ever play it. Why does it end up at the first spot almost every week?
Overly simplistic backgrounds, rather lacking animations, boring design. Surprised... Wow. Especially considering how much can be done with a Marvel license, I have seen much better looking Marvel games on mobile even. I was looking forward to this, now I am not so sure anymore. Still looking forward to seeing more, but no longer as excited. Though judging by some fans of the series and their comments here, all hope may not be lost.
@MischiefMaker I would recommend you forget about the grinding, and just do whatever you like in the game. There's so much variety in there, and setting aside 20-30 mins to play is enough to both enjoy the game and feel some progress. The big difference between this and a ton of other MMOs is you actually play to have fun, and the grind just happens while enjoying the gameplay.
@NinjaSyao - It actually runs much better now. Crazy, I know. There was a glitch with light when it released, but this has been fixed. Looks and plays much better now.
Looks a lot like a cell shaded version of the mobile game Last Day on Earth which I really enjoyed.
For the price I honestly am fine even if it only lasts a few hours before I find any P2W or something else that I dislike. And it has zombies, so I'll get something out of it hah.
And as for taking a stance on the usual inflation of prices on Switch, I feel it is worth supporting for that low price alone.
Warframe as always. But since I think I read that Furi has an update, which makes it easier, I am gonna boot that up again. I loved the game, even if I felt it was way too hard for my taste. Beat - I think - four bosses, and enjoyed the style and music, so will check if anything has changed with the difficulty.
I so wish I could get into this version of Zelda, but I have never seen a game that seems so hellbent on making me not want to play and enjoy it. Having too much fun climbing? Sure we will annoy you with lack of stamnia. Enjoying a new weapon? Np, we will break it after a few fights. Enjoy crafting? Here, let's make that cumbersome. Enjoy dungeons? Don't worry exploring have been replaced by kind of mini-puzzles. Different enemies? Nah. Annoying bosses? Check.
And at the same time I really want to explore the open world, it's just not fun for me. At least I have Skyrim then.
But many great games on the list. It's really impressive.
N+, Warframe and BattleChasers are personal favourites, but I guess not for most.
Burnout 3 or Asphalt 9 is what we need. One is a PS2 game and the other a mobile game. Both excellent, speedy and fun arcade racers with their own great mechanics. Both would be excellent additions to the Switch library and rather easy to get to perform well (especially Asphalt due to similarities in tech). This? Looks like we didn't need that.
I wish Nintendo had a limit to how often a game could be on sale each quarter. I am so tired of the list being super long, but always including so many of the same semi crap indie titles again. It feels like the devs spam the sales in the hope of getting double exposure, which is likely what they do. But in doing so they make the actual interesting sales drown.
Edit: and then I saw the 3D part haha.... well that explains a lot.
Solid list, but I prefer 2D like Embers of Mirrim and N+. I know they might be an aquired taste, sometimes it just gets a bit too obvious what's gonna be on these kind of lists. I wiuld include Embers because of the very different dual stick mechanics, and N+ because it is so much fun in co-op with a gazillion levels.
I love the portability and the option to play offline with my Switch for whenever I am not at home and booting up the full system. This means nothing to me. Lag, control input lag, dependency on internet etc... nah, I'll likely pass for a decade or so at least on game streaming.
Haha awesome! And no worries I was not implying foul play, just felt it strange that you hardly ever seem to mention the game, as it is really a great experience on Switch.
And don't worry an hour gets you as far as 200. It is in intricate web of convulted systems. The gameplay and community makes up for it. The best advice I got when starting was: "Have fun playing, do not worry if you don't understand the many systems".
How come Warframe is quite often ignored on this site? Seems strange especially in an article like this. It's an amazing game, a technical stunning production, and one of a few F2P games that actually lives up to the free part. Not to mention the huge amount of single and multiplayer content.
If we produce material for education, it should be correct. If anyone uses this as reference ages later, it will cause misinformation. Other than that I am not too bothered, it just feels lazy.
Got this about a month ago, love it. Highly recommended.
Used to have the same make in 128GB and that has been going without any issues for about a year, and still works fine, though I haven't much need for it on my Switch anymore.
I can easily see the value in that. Personally I have 72 digital games and ONE retail game, and I just got that one to fill out the slot and save that extra memory before I had a 400GB card in there. Again if the price is right, yes. I can understand why some people woud prefer having both options, then again there's the normal Switch for that. And the poll seems to indicate that this is still needed.
@Romeo-75 Yeh, it's a funny thing with Warframe, but glad to hear that you had that experience as well. Personally I have also been really surprised (and happy) to see that the nice, helpful and polite community seems to live on on Switch also.

Love my Sandisk cards. Started with a 64gb, then 400gb and now 1TB (yeh I blame the Eshop sales). And all cards works (and worked) perfect. 😊

Re: Feature: The Most Jaw-Dropping Nintendo Switch Ports Of 2019
Great article. I miss Asphalt 9 on the list.
... and have to say The Witcher 3 in my opinion simple looks too downgraded compared to the likes of Skyrim to be enjoyable - again at least to me.
Re: Huge Nintendo Switch Festive Sale Sees More Than 700 Games Discounted By Up To 80% (Europe)
The Witcher 3 is on sale. 30-ish %... Finally dived in! 😅
And grabbing Gris and likely more. I would recommend getting Letter Quest on sale. a really fun game.
Re: Review: Deathtrap Dungeon Trilogy - A Somewhat Drab Retelling Of A Classic Series
Hmmm. Tempted. The review reads a bit higher than the score, while the price is low enough for nostalgia to get a chance. 😊

Re: Poll: Have You Played The Dragon Quest XI S Demo On Nintendo Switch Yet?
Great demo. That - and some comment confirming that I would be able to turn down the annoying music - made me decide to get it. 😄

@Ludovsky ... awesome thanks! Actually thanks a lot for that info!

Excellent review though.
