Warframe has now received its new Plains of Eidolon Remaster update, renewing the open-world in-game location with a pretty mighty graphical overhaul.
The update is said to deliver "dynamic lighting, textures and atmosphere, resurfaced terrain for better K-Drive Hoverboard action, and introduces conservation and a new Grineer menace, the wily Tusk Thumpers". New, advanced lighting techniques will also affect the day-night cycle with changes to the game's light and shadows.
You should notice rays of light bursting through the more detailed trees and crisp new detail in the foliage and the landscape around you. You can see some of the differences in the trailer above (although it's worth pointing out that the footage presented there is for the PC build and will naturally look considerably better than the Switch version).
Just like the main game, this new Plains of Eidolon Remaster update is entirely free, so you can go ahead and download it without ruining your bank balance. The update will bring the total file size of the game to somewhere around 20.5 GB, however, so you'll probably want to make sure you have a micro SD card handy.

Awesome! I love Warframe on switch so I'm glad DE is continuing to support it.
The thumpers are the main attraction imo. They allow for a constant source of rare gold mod farming like the difficult to obtain Auger Secrets.
They also drop all the materials you can get from fishing/mining so that's a neat bonus ^_^
I wonder how performance will be though... it's become more graphically intensive and the plains already ran very poorly as is >.<
PS
We also get the signature weapon buffs. Some of those buffs are really nice like the Astilla getting a bigger ammo pool when used by Gara.
Played Warframe for the first time in a good while last night. Thanks, this explains why there was such a big update before playing. I upgraded my SD card back in late November, so I'm good to go.
Man I wish I had the time to play this. I really enjoyed it when I sampled it.
I forgot about Fortuna update's size bump (partly because the update failed and forced me to redownload the whole thing), so this "20 Gb" gave me a jump scare for a second. I thought I had just lost almost 7 Gb while already making plans about what to shelf for the potentially needed extra 10.😅
Smash and now this?! How am I supposed to keep up with all of it...
I really want to like this game because it’s fun, but so complicated. I just need some intro direction and then I think navigating would be easier.
Love Warframe easily in the top five best games on Switch for me and it's free .
Aha, so that explains what the additional 2.8 GB was for...
@Zach777 Yes completely agree. I want to like it more than I do and would probably play more of it but I feel like I'm banging my head against wall at times as its too complicated to even understand what's going on or what you're supposed to do. I've done a fair few hours on it and it's still too confusing. The menus etc are a complete mess. Real shame that after so many years of it being out ,it's still the core problem issue that hasnt been addressed
@Zach777 @PlayedNSlayed These videos are a good place to start:
If you do find these videos useful, then you might wanna visit iFlynn's channel, because he has plenty more videos, explaining each and every part of Warframe in more than enough detail to help you along.
And here is some additional info that might be of help:

@Zach777 I definitely agree with you here. I was thinking going on youtube and searching for intro to warframe? lol
I was overloaded with information on all these upgrades but I just don't know how to apply them all.
@ThanosReXXX Thanks! very helpful
@Mickeyr65 You're welcome.
@ThanosReXXX yeah I just deleted the game. I liked what I played but it was too time consuming and complex for me to get into.
@ThanosReXXX Nice!I'll give them a watch 👍
@Qwertyninty It can be very time consuming, but rewarding as well.
Having said that, you can easily play in short sessions of say, an hour, so it's only ever as consuming as you allow it to be, and with some pointers and tips on how to start, you'll not run the risk of muddling about too much in the beginning.
And it's free, so what's not to like. It's total size also isn't that big, so for me personally, that would be more than enough reason to just leave it installed. You can get back to it whenever you want. But fair enough, to each their own, I guess.
@PlayedNSlayed Glad to be of help. I know it can initially seem to be quite overwhelming, what with the choices in Warframes (player character) and weapons, but once it sinks its hooks in you, it becomes quite an enjoyable game.
Great game. Many hours spent on pc.
Wouldn't touch the switch version until digital extremes enables account merging and cross progression.
Currently they are quadruple dipping off of 4 platforms.
Nice!! My second most played game on Switch. So how does it run now?
Plains were already dropping frames. Not that I minded that much, 80% of the time it ran just fine for me. But it hiccups a littlea bit every 30 minutes.
I hope it didn't get worse.
@ThanosReXXX
Thanks I will give that a go and then retry.
@Zach777 You're welcome, and enjoy the ride. Should be better/more enjoyable this time around, with the added knowledge you'll now gain (from those videos).
I'm another one who played this for a few hours and enjoyed it, but stopped as i just don't get enough gaming time to really be able to play such a big, grindy game. My backlog is just too big, and with a few hours a week I'd rather get a wider variety of experiences.
Totally get those who love it though. If i had more time i would deffo play it more.
It's amazing, looking at it, there is no reason a fallout 3 remaster couldn't run on Switch.
I honestly didn't think the Switch version would get this, bad timing with Smash 3.0 hitting soon and Cuphead just around the corner. lol
@NinjaSyao - It actually runs much better now. Crazy, I know. There was a glitch with light when it released, but this has been fixed. Looks and plays much better now.
@MischiefMaker I would recommend you forget about the grinding, and just do whatever you like in the game. There's so much variety in there, and setting aside 20-30 mins to play is enough to both enjoy the game and feel some progress. The big difference between this and a ton of other MMOs is you actually play to have fun, and the grind just happens while enjoying the gameplay.
Sounds like another win for Switch!
