Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want From A 'Splatoon 4'?

Sputnik_Corner

I've always thought splatoon has looked awesome however I have never picked one up simply because I don't really enjoy online matchmaking, I play with friends but mostly on other systems... However,, the single player has always looked so darn cool its just really pricey to buy a whole game and only play a tiny section of it, I almost wish that I could pay a portion and get access to the story segments, I know it'll never happen but I can dream.
So, for the inevitable Splatoon 4, I would love a 10+ hr campaign with a proper story because even though that's short still, I would be much happier to buy the whole game and not feel like i'm missing out...

Splatoon 2's single player looks so cool but its in paid DLC so not only do I gotta fork over £40 for the game but I've then gotta get the DLC for another £20 for roughly 8hrs, which is a bit too steep for me, the single player DLC for 3 looks really cool too but same situation as Octo Expansion...

I'm in one of those lulls i often find myself after finishing a large game where I don't really know what I'm in the mood to start so I just play little time consuming games

Ive just upgraded to Game Pass Ultimate from PC gamepass, so that I can stream xbox games to my phone and use my Backbone controller therefore i've been doing quite a lot of Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon 5 whilst I decide what big game i'm gonna dive into next.
Might be Disco Elysium, maybe Tunic, could be Deaths Door, or I might go back to a game that I started and didn't finish like Hogwarts Legacy, Mass Effect 2, Kena Bridge of Spirits or maybe LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga which I wanna go back and 100% at some point, it's just a case of working out what kinda mood i'm in

Re: PDP's New Switch Controller Includes A Collectible Sonic Figurine Inside The Grip

Sputnik_Corner

They look awesome on a shelf (although the wire will be a pain to make look nice in a display) but they're horrible to use because of that cheapo shiny plastic, give it some clear rubber grips on the back and make it wireless, only then would I be tempted but as it is, i dunno who these are for.

I'm still yet to find anything better than my POWER A Fusion Pro 2 Wireless for switch, the Pro Controller is great but the paddles are a must for me now

@-wc-
Oh dude don't! 😫
I'm a Bass Player and I gave away my first Bass for nothing, I would do anything to have it back but I gave it to a school it could be anywhere now. It was absolute garbage but it was mine and it would be so cool to have on my wall or something. On the other hand however, I would never ever play it over my current guitars so it would just sit and never be played but I like to think it might have set another Bassist off on their journey and maybe even more after them

Re: Talking Point: The Games We Got Rid Of - What Were We Thinking?

Sputnik_Corner

Not quite gaming related but relevant to the theme here.
I will never forgive myself but more importantly my Mum (if you're reading this mum its cool I still love you)
As a kid I had a massive collection of original... it pains me to say it... Star Wars figures. Some of them boxed and all pristine. I even had some of the rarer pieces and vehicles etc. Back then they weren't worth jack and when I was done playing with them and was now too cool for Star Wars as an angsty 13yr old with a skateboard I took them to a carboot with my Mum.
When I wasn't looking a passer by noticed that they were all there and offered to buy the whole collection, my mum said "£50 and its all yours". Just like that they were gone forever.
Occasionally I scroll through ebay looking at the 1000s of pounds I could have today if I had kept them. Scrolling through listings for individual figures worth multiple £100s thinking "I had that one, I had that one, that one was boxed, my one wasn't missing his lightsaber, my one wasn't faded" and wondering what mansion I could have now...

Re: Talking Point: Zelda: TOTK Isn't A Shoo-In For GOTY 2023, And That's A Good Thing

Sputnik_Corner

I'm kinda conflicted because part of me thinks that they might not give it to TOTK because BOTW won it in 2017 so they might not want to award the same guys twice

BUT

There's only 1 game that I think has actual potential to beat it in public opinion and that's Starfield obviously I know it isn't out yet and part of me is hoping that it goes the way of Cyberpunk just cause it'll be funny to see all these Bethesda shills lose their pre-order money. But if it is good and lets be honest it probably will be then I can see it rocking the boat.

And then there's the curve ball,, Baldurs Gate III, came out of nowhere and then suddenly its everywhere, I have no clue what that game is gonna do to the Game Awards but there's every chance that its just gonna win everything

There haven't been any left field wackies this year like It Takes Two was last year so I think that the front runners are relatively clear, and tbf all deserving of the GOTY (assuming Starfield is decent) so i'll be happy to see it whoever wins.

But imho Zelda is the obvious winner and deserves it more than any game because you know its gonna inspire developers and artists for years to come and its gonna make some other devs think "what are we even doing here?", and if that's not deserving of GOTY then I don't know what is

Re: Genshin Impact Zelda "Clone" Accusations Had Dev Team In Tears

Sputnik_Corner

I mean games copy each other all the time, it isn't shameless plagiarism most of the time (with a few obvious exceptions), it's called inspiration.
Like, BOTW itself borrowed loads of ideas from other games that came before it and transformed them and combined them in a way that hadn't been done, and then added their own ideas and boom you've got yerself an awesome game.
Genshin, love it or hate it (personally I'm pretty indifferent to it) did exactly the same thing, borrowed a few ideas here and there but ultimately it is a completely different game that many people seem to enjoy, so why not let them enjoy their thing?

There's no point in hating on it so heavily. If you don't like the online only thing or the gatcha stuff, that's cool play something else.
I played for like 30hrs or so before it got super grindy and the only way to keep playing is either to play like 5 mins every day or to pay loads of money so ultimately I decided it's not for me but more power to those who love it!

Why do people gotta be so negative?
Happy Gaming everyone!

Re: Red Dead Redemption Fans Aren't Happy About Rockstar's "Lazy Port"

Sputnik_Corner

I mean its a great thing for switch to have this classic join its library of titles, its sits very happily next to the ports of Crisis, Skyrim, Assassins Creed, Bioshock, arkham tril, etc etc
So for switch I think its a straight up sweet thing the only issue being the price. £35 would've been perfect but hey it'll go down if nobody buys it at £50 and if people do buy it then the price tag is justified

However with all that said, the ps4 port is without a doubt lazy. Sure it's great that you can play the game on ps4/5 , disappointing its just a port but oh well, BUT they shouldn't be making a big song and dance about it and it should be super cheap because there's zero effort that has gone in to making that work on ps4, it would be a basic file dump and a new case, "bam! £50 please"

"For that I give you $1!"

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

Sputnik_Corner

The eShop honestly just feels so bare bones basic, like the bare minimum for what's acceptable for an online store front.
Compared to Steam or Playstation (I don't have an Xbox anymore but I bet theirs is decent too) the Switch eShop just sucks. No tags, no decent search filters, no personalised recommendations, no notifications options to 'follow' games, devs or publishers, it's just a bit S#1T really

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

Sputnik_Corner

The real danger and issue with this is that the majority of people that will be fooled by these games are kids with parent money.
A kid might see those stolen images from GTAV and think "wow GTAV for £1.99!" or whatever and then purchase only to realise its a complete waste of money.
The worse ones are ones that cost a decent amount still like north of £15-£20 but are just complete trash. These absolutely shouldn't be allowed on any online store front.

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

Sputnik_Corner

I have 1 rule when browsing the eShop or the Playstation Store, if there's no gameplay video then I don't buy it. Simple as that.

Even if the game looks awesome, I need to see gameplay, and if there's no video on the store page then I assume the devs have something to hide.

I would make an exception if the game has been recommended or just looks awesome by looking up gameplay of my own accord but that's a very rare case.

This rule has been very effective so far at meaning the games I buy are at least actual games and not garbage 'asset flips' or 'scam games' with stolen images

Be careful out there gamers!

Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo IP Should 'Switch 2' Launch With?

Sputnik_Corner

The 3D Mario has to be coming soon right, so a launch title seems like a given. as of this October it will have been in development for the same amount of time as TOTK, however BOTW had DLC that the team were working on and TOTK was delayed, The Mario Team at EPD8 will never not be working on the next game so there's no way that its not nearly done at 6 years development, I reckon (not an original idea) that they're just holding it back for the next system at this point because as this article states, it would be sad to see it come out when the Switch is on its way out and get left behind rather than sell very well for 5+ years like Odyssey has been able to.

As for Mario Kart 9 I think that it'll be similar to Switch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, in that its gonna come a few months after launch. (BTW my prediction puts Switch 2 out in May 24, so these predictions are based on that) MK9 for like September, October 24.

I also think that we're gonna get a new DK game yr1 for Switch 2. but I don't think its being done by Retro or EPD8 as has been previously predicted, but I do think its 3D, kinda similarly to Kirby, I think it will be level-based.

As for Metroid Prime 4 I think its gonna be a launch period game not at launch but soon after, maybe a month or two

We'll obviously be getting a tech-demo type game too but who could possibly predict what on earth that could be

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: The Legend Of Zelda

Sputnik_Corner

The Golden Box just seems so subtle and imposing, like imagine it on a shelf with all the other multicoloured and black boxes and then theres just one solitary Golden box.
I know which one I want.
The golden box makes it seem like it knows that its the start of a truly iconic franchise, almost like it knew how special it would be before it had even begun.

I'm not even slightly nostalgic for this, i'm 23 so the NES was a relic of the past by the time I was playing games but this game just feels reverent and the GOLD adds endlessly to that.

@beartown
The style and character that oozes out of every animation and every sound, every action and every enemy.
The Variety of creativity in each level that seamlessly feels like it flows from the last level but doesn't restep previous ideas.
The intricacies and intuitivity of the puzzles throughout.
The satisfying and deep combat that feels like you get better with every fight and remains fun right up until the final boss.
Speaking of the boss fights O.M.G they are unbelievably fun and stylish without being gimmicky
The game is short enough and has the grading system which encourages multiple playthroughs with varying efficiency each time,,

Gosh I could gush about this game all day, totally appreciate your opinion of course, can't expect everyone to like everything but thats some of why I'm personally in love with Luigi's mansion 3

@Giancarlothomaz you gotta dive down the hole below the castle about 80% of the way down there's a ledge with the root, assuming that's the one you mean,
Maybe you mean the one under the lonely island a little to the east of Hyrule Castle which was also kinda well hidden, but the Chasm is in a cave underneath the west side of the Island, accessed by the water.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 5th)

Sputnik_Corner

So this weekend im mostly playing Elder Scrolls Online actually, and I've got D&D tonight.

But, ive got monday off work, and i'm looking to complete TOTK, gonna start early and play into the night until its done, I reckon ive got about 8-10 hours left of koroks and the last few side quests to do. Then to Ganondorf to roll credits once and for all on one of the greatest games i've ever played.

Clocking around 250 hours

Then I can finally play some of the games I've been accumulating for the last 3 months! Starting with 'Death's Door', which looks amazing and i'm very excited to dig in to it, i recently played Omno during the week because it's short and I had a few hours to kill, was pretty fun but wasn't the Zelda-like I was hoping it to be from the trailers, hoping Death's Door can fulfill that wish

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Targeting A 2024 Release For The Switch Successor

Sputnik_Corner

Currently the rumoured specs sound disappointing, LCD screen C'mon we've moved past that now, the OLED looks leaps and bounds better.
But, if it runs games smoother then i'll suck it up and go for it, tbh I don't care all that much about whether or not if its 4k or has blast processing as long as the games can run smooth and look nice i'll be happy.
I really really hope that its backwards compatible though, I have so many darn games on my switch and i'd love to bring them forward with me to the new generation. and buying them all again is gonna be a hard pill to swallow...

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 29th)

Sputnik_Corner

I'm in my twilight period for TOTK so I am now finally looking ahead for the next game, currently im at 200hrs looking to be done by 220hrs.

As for what else im playing, I recently tried out the Jusant Demo on Steam a few days ago, that was really fun considering its a super short demo so I can't wait for that new game.
I'm wanting to dive into something a little different after TOTK despite me having a bunch of Zelda-Like games im itching to play, so I'm thinking I might play Somerville, or maybe Disco Elysium, I understand that the latter is a much larger experience and more of a time commitment so I might hold off and go for the former but i'm undecided as of yet.
I Pi(c)k-ed up Pikmin 4 the other day (Excuse the hammed pun LOL) but I am holding off until September because thats when the physical for 1+2 releases and i'd like to play all 4 back to back but I like physical games.
I'm gonna start Deaths door, or Tunic very soon too, have a little 2D Zelda-Like to play after TOTK seems fitting for some reason.

Anyway that's my gaming landscape as of this weekend, happy gaming folks!

Re: Ubisoft Has Reportedly Cancelled Plans For An Immortals: Fenyx Rising Sequel

Sputnik_Corner

UBISOFT: "Creativity is a real problem in the industry, we've tried to make fun games a few times and they've only sold decently, and we like games to sell insanely well to brainless people who we've indoctrinated over the last 10-15 years. Therefore, we are happy to announce that we will only be making, Assassins' Creed, Far Cry and Tom Clancy games from here on. No more creativity ever."

Btw I didn't like Immortals at all but it was nice for a moment believing that Ubisoft were risk takers who were interested in actually making games and not products in money franchises, what an awful company, they have a couple games that don't hit perfectly and rather than try and work out what went wrong they just jump ship and never look back.
Immortals had promise, and a sequel or successor could've been awesome if they cared enough to listen to criticisms and improve upon the previous game but no, fire a bunch of people, and get the rest to churn out the next AC.

sad...

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 22nd)

Getting bored of saying this hahaha... I'm still playing Zelda

Not bored of the game however, still loving every second at nearly 200hrs no end in sight, I think i've still got about 3-4 weeks (about 50 hours for me) to finish it, then on to new endeavours

So excited for all you lot playing Pikmin 4 this week, I bought it today but I won't be playing until september because when the Physical editions of 1+2 come out on 22/09 im gonna marathon all 4 on Switch, very excited to do that!

Re: Video: We Share Our Thoughts On Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom After 100+ Hours In The Game

Sputnik_Corner

A lot of people are complaining about the 'checklist' game design, a totally valid critique because there's no denying that is indeed the design of the game even more so once you've done the story, HOWEVER, this is the reason why I love the game so gosh darn much, currently approaching 200hrs and expect to spend many many more slowly ticking off that seemingly never ending list. I personally ADORE collectathon style games, and a collectathon Zelda, i'm in heaven its like Aonuma came to me specifically and said, "what do you want from zelda?"

  • I love the weapon durability, imho it keeps combat feeling fresh still at 200hrs not many games can say that, I still get into scrapes where I have to think on my feet because my "strong" weapon shatters mid-fight. (this is a praise for BOTW really)
  • Fuse only adds to the above, just a further thing to keep fighting interesting forever
  • I think the depths is one of the most interesting ideas in recent gaming
  • The skies arent as full as i'd hoped but what we do have up there is super fun to traverse. One of the things that made BOTW so fun and engaging was just getting around Hyrule, this time thats made easy, however they bring it back and more with the depths and the skies which are both pretty darn hard to traverse to begin with and are so dang satisfying to eventually conquer.
  • I believe the progression is perfect, in BOTW, Link feels like an untouchable god by about 30hrs and fights become swing your sword enough times to eliminate the enemy. Master mode made this much better, but TOTK feels like its on master mode from the off, the enemies are much tougher and Link feels a lot weaker. Even with full hearts and all Sages fully upgraded I still find myself getting low on health and having to find a creative way to get out of scrapes.
  • The Shrines are my (one of two that I see as pretty equal) biggest complaint, in that they pretty much all have the same solution; build something or reverse something, they are frustrating combat puzzles that again have the same basic structure, or are Rauru's blessings, the few that don't fit into those brackets are the best in the game, shame theres like 10 good ones in 153 of 'em.
  • My other gripe is that the game is too easy to do out of order, with the story being much more involved than the predecessor it would be much better to experience in the correct order and I feel that the game doesn't do the best job at nudging the player in the correct direction all the time. Leading to a lot of cutscenes being followed by the speaker saying "oh! you've already done it, moving on then" which I find very unsatisfying.

I have many more points but they are the things I feel super strongly about, its an amazing game that I will Recall (some pun intended) fondly for the rest of my life, that being said it certainly has room to improve for a future title. I would love for ZeldaTeam to return to this version of TLoZ one final time to make an incredible trilogy but they would have to make a new map for sure, or do something like flood this version of Hyrule.

Personally 10/10 game, but no game is without flaws.
Do I prefer it over BOTW... No clue, honestly, I don't even know how to begin that thought

Re: PSA: For Goodness Sake, Don't Fall For This Nintendo Switch 2 'Leak'

Sputnik_Corner

One of the many major red flags to this, is the reference to any of the games on the box, if you look at any of the boxes for the Switch (unless if it's a themed switch i.e. Totk, Splatoon 3, Pokemon ScarVi, etc...) it doesn't reference the UI for the device or any of the software (Games) and that is due to the fact that these are things that change/can change over time, why would they commit to putting a game from 2023 in the form of TOTK, Pikmin 4, Mario RPG, etc... on all the boxes so that in 2029 when they're still on shelves it would make the console appear stuck in time, outdated and old.
Having Mario Odyssey on there is even stranger.

Wasn't worth it to me until they added and will continue to add GBA games, as soon as I saw the reveal I sighed as I knew I was gonna have to cave and buy the darn thing!
I don't play any games online multiplayer (not on Switch anyways) and have zero nostalgia for anything prior to GBA so it didn't appeal until that fateful day, 8th Feb 2023 still haunts me...

Heres hoping they add GC games or please i beg of the Nintendo gods,, add DS games.
