Re: Feature: Breaking Down the My Nintendo Loyalty Economy, Again

SpriteMaster

How exactly do you earn platinum points for signing into Nintendo's website and "clicking through a few pages"? After reading this in the article and a few of the comments supporting this, I signed in and had a browse of the site for a while, but didn't earn any points for either task. Maybe these missions aren't available for Aussies?

Re: Nindies@Home Promotion Arrives In Australia & New Zealand Tomorrow

SpriteMaster

This is great! I really loved the principle of being able to try out new game demos over E3, as many of us aren't able to attend the real deal (I really don't get why more developers don't release timed demos of their E3 showings to home gamers, but that's another debate all together). I know its now over a month late, but I'll definately be giving some of these games a go.

Re: Video: Reggie Fils-Aimé Discusses His E3 Puppet, Rival Games and More

SpriteMaster

I'm sure I'm in the minority when I say this, but I think Nintendo is being too harshly criticized once again. I enjoyed their E3 direct much like every year, and sure I'll admit that the Metroid and Animal Crossing games weren't what we wanted or expected, but until I play the final versions of them, I can't judge these games purely on what I saw over E3.
Federation Force does look like a lot of fun when you look beyond the Metroid Prime in the title, and as a multiplayer shooter, a genre that is lacking on 3DS, I'll definately be keeping my eyes on it. Then there's Animal Crossing amiibo Festival, and while it hasn't done anything as of yet to pique my interests (other than those nice animal crossing amiibo) I'm hearing that there will be multiple modes in the game, hopefully modes that will better portray all that is fun about Animal Crossing.
Other than that, the rest of Nintendo's line up does excite me. Starfox Zero, Super Mario Maker, Xenoblade Chronicals X, Zelda Triforce Heroes, Mario & Luigi Paper Jam, Fire Emblem Fates, Hyrule Wariors Legends plus all the DLC that is going to be added to Splatoon and Smash Bros. throughout the coming months.
I could go on for even longer, but I won't push it. All I wanted to get across is that Nintendo always seems to cop a lot of slack, whether it be from their latest console to their games lineup. But when you look at them as a whole, Nintendo almost always seems to push through and deliver. Plus I think us Nintendo fans get pretty spoiled throughout the year anyway, with all the surprises they throw at us during their directs.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, I'll stop for now

Re: Yooka-Laylee’s Game Worlds Will Be Contained Within "Magical Books”

SpriteMaster

I was a bit uncertain about the whole expanding worlds idea, but this makes all the sense in the world now!
I love the idea of each world being a "book" and the separate levels/ sections of those worlds being the "pages" within these books.
I'm also a keen collector, so retreading old ground to unlock new ones doesn't bother me in the slightest, in fact it makes me even more excited!
Just a shame it's a year and a half away still...

Re: Famitsu Reveals Some Fresh Details on Fire Emblem If

SpriteMaster

For once, I'm actually kinda pleased we are getting this game later than Japan. The whole idea of different story arcs is great, but having that in the form of 2 retail releases- both also available as DLC, some sort of retail bundle that contains both versions and a 3rd story arc being release as DLC sometime later on, it all seems a bit chaotic.
Perhaps Japan are the 'test' market, and that may be why the rest of us have to wait until next year to get our hands on it. If that's the case, hopefully this new release model that they are trying, gets tidied up a bit before localisation. I'd be happy to pay more for a retail release (or bundle/ collector's edition etc.) that contains all modes/ story arcs/ DLC in the one package. I know that might be a stretch considering that would equate to '3 games' on the one cartridge, but it makes the most sense to me.
Despite all that though, I'm excited regardless, and will likely still grab it day one (whenever that turns out to be).

Re: Nintendo Australia Lists eShop Offerings Redeemable Via Club Nintendo Stars Catalogue

SpriteMaster

I've managed to save up 17,650 stars (as you can imagine it was a pain registering and filling out the surveys for each game over the last few weeks) so I will most likely buy a few digital games, and still have some stars left incase they surprise us with any other physical rewards. I have my eyes on a few of the Wii U virtual console games- Goldan Sun, Advanced Wars, Superstar Saga- and will likely also grab the Pickmin 3D Shorts. I suppose the list could be better, but I can't complain, at least we are finally getting the option.

Re: Pokémon Rumble World Available Now, as Nintendo Releases a New Launch Trailer

SpriteMaster

I've enjoyed my time with it so far. Managed to unknowingly sink over an hour into it already. Early on the wait for balloons to re-inflate (allowing you to replay a stage from that world) is very short- not even a minute long, but I fear how long these waits will get as you progress. Diamonds (the game's premium currency) also seem to be in generous supply early on, awarding you with enough to buy at least a few balloons (worlds). Overall I can't complain, for my first Pokemon Rumble experience, I can already see the appeal. It's also yet another positive experience I've had with Nintendo's free-to-play movement, and gets me excited for what's to come.

Re: Nintendo Download: 2nd April (Europe)

SpriteMaster

Just to clarify, I checked the eShop again (Australian) and while I notice the Azure Gunvolt page has been removed, I happen to have added it my watch list prior to this. As a result I still have access to the page and it does still list it as a 3rd of April release.
Whether or not a Nintendo Direct is planned for the next couple of days to announce this, I'm not sure, but it does seem like we will be getting it regardless. My guess is it will likely be confirmed via the developer's twitter page, much like previous announcements.

Re: Nintendo Download: 2nd April (Europe)

SpriteMaster

I'd have grabbed a couple of those discounted 3DS games if they were available to us here in Australia. Since they aren't, it's just the retail version of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (which I have been highly anticipating) for me this week.

I agree that the absence of Azure Gunvolt is odd, particularly since the game page was still active last I checked the eShop. If it does release I will definately pick that up too (Hopefully we get Mighty Gunvolt with it as well).

In regards to a Nintendo Direct, as I've stated before, I feel it's more likely we will get one mid-late April rather than now. I do hope I'm wrong though because I, like many others, am hanging out for another one.

Re: Azure Striker Gunvolt Release Details for Europe Due Next Week, Prompts Nintendo Direct Chatter

SpriteMaster

I've been looking forward to this since it released and I heard how good it was. I did notice the game page on the eshop yesturday, stating its release on the 3rd of April, haven't seen that it has been taken off though.
I do feel that a direct is coming, and a little overdue, but I kind of felt it would be around mid-late April to coincide with the big month of may releases, some of which we don't even have a release date for.
I'm up for a Direct any day though, so I hope I'm wrong and there is one within the next week.

Re: The Legend of Zelda for Wii U No Longer Set for 2015 Release

SpriteMaster

The delay is a shame, but will definately benefit the game in the long run. Ignoring it at E3 though, surprises me a little bit. I understand that the game would be far from complete at this point, but I'm sure they'd have something else of interest to show since we last saw it.
Perhaps they have something else big that they want to focus on. I wonder what it could be...

Re: Talking Point: That Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door 3DS Rumour Looks Fake, But Do You Want it to be True?

SpriteMaster

It doesn't show enough for me to be sold on its legitimacy, but I would love for it to be true as I've never played it (and I'm a huge fan of the paper mario series too!). I also feel this would look great on the 3DS in 3D. I am one of the few who loved Sticker Star, but regardless of whether you where one who liked it or not, I think we can all agree it looked great and the 3D effect did add a lot.

And in regards to everyone who says they don't want more ports or remasters, I get where you are coming from (I mean new games are always the better option), but I feel gamers should never decline/ reject the opportunity for more games and the inevitable increase of fans as a result. In certain cases, a remake or remaster (particularly of older games from previous console generations) could initiate a renewal for that series (take the Darksiders 2 next gen port that was recently announced, this may finally lead to the 3rd and 4th entries that long term fans have been waiting for.)

My point is, if developers feel there isn't enough support for a game or its franchise, or that they just aren't ready to make a new game yet, bringing a fan favourite or classic game to a new console generation and a new audience is often the best option. And put it this way, it may take longer for a new addition to you favourite series, but the added fan support that result from re-releases may just give them the push to continue and expand the series.

Anyway, my rant is complete for now

Re: Review: Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (New Nintendo 3DS)

SpriteMaster

I can't even begin to describe how excited I am for this. I was fortunate enough to pick up a copy of the wii version back when it released (and of course I still own it), yet for some reason I didn't play much of it. After this got announced for Japan I was over the moon (I mean they announced the New 3DS at the same time too!) but was hesitant, as it was yet to be confirmed for release elsewhere. When it was though, the hype train began and I've been counted down the days since. Can't wait to pick it up at launch and see first hand how it turned it.

I'm also really interested to see what the next New 3DS exclusive game will be. Potentially another remake/ remaster (as I'd imagine this would cause the least amount of discord with original 3DS owners) but of course I'd be happy for just about anything. I know it's unlikely since it's already been remade, but I've always wanted a 3DS verion of Super Mario 64/ DS. I just feel that was one of the most revolutionary Nintendo games and it would look amazing in 3D! But only time will tell...

Re: Review: Navy Commander (3DS eShop)

SpriteMaster

@G0dlike Yeah, I'll admit I chuckled.
Unfortunately I figured about as much. I know they say don't judge a book (or in this case a game) by it's appearance, but it seems in this case, it is as bare bones as it looks

Re: Preview: We Take Aim at Splatoon to See if It Offers the Best of Both Worlds

SpriteMaster

The more I see of splatoon the more excited I get. The potential lack of local multiplayer is something I didn't consider though (I suppose I should have, considering the gamepad is an integral part of the game). Hopefully they can implement local multiplayer in some form, even if the gamepad holder controls the squid boy/ girl and has to chase down escaping enemy squids (who could be controlled by a pro controller etc.) I'm also looking forward to the prospect of having my own squid boy and squid girl amiibo on my shelf among my collection of others (which despite only rumours at this stage, I feel is very likely). Only time will tell, but I'd imagine an upcoming Nintendo Direct with go over final details for Splatoon and amiibo/ bundle options.

Re: We Have Shigeru Miyamoto To Thank For The Super Stable 3D Of The New Nintendo 3DS

SpriteMaster

To be honest I never had an issue with the my original's 3D. I always have, and will likely continue to, play in 3D. Saying that, I am glad that super stable 3D was implemented in the New 3DS, as it has clearly helped to sell the new systems. I must say, the best thing for me was being able to upgrade from my original aqua blue 3DS (which I love, and still own) to the metallic blue New 3DS XL. Having missed the XL movement a couple of years ago, this was a big change for me.

Re: Nintendo’s Free-To-Play Experiment Pokémon Shuffle Surpasses 2.5 Million Downloads

SpriteMaster

Like most gamers, when games are announced to be free-to-play or contain free to play elements, I worry that it will ruin the entire experience. In certain cases though, I belive this model to be a benefit. Pokemon shuffle is one of those cases. I have spent many hours playing through Shuffle and its extensive amount of extra and timed content and haven't felt I've needed to pay a cent. My point is, this free-to-play model was controversial at first (who wants to be restricted to only 5 games before waiting, and often for longer then you've played), but this has kept me coming back each day, sometimes even multiple times per day. Had I been able to play as much as I wanted, whenever I wanted, I probably would have either gotten bored or finished it within the first week. Only over the last week have I started to tire of the routine, but then Nintendo decides to run that 1 week competition stage and now provide new main stages, new weekly pokemon and a new timed stage. I've been drawn in all over again! If Nintendo decides to make more games like this (which is definately likely due to their new mobile movement) I'll at least give it a shot.

Re: Gunman Clive 2 Developer Talks About a Possible Wii U Port and a Potential Third Entry

SpriteMaster

Hi everyone! I'm new here... well sort of. I've been following nintendolife for years now, but decided (finally) to join its community. I am looking forward to the discussions I am sure we will all have.
On topic, I loved both Gunman Clive 1 and 2 and admire the developer for his accomplishments. I would buy a Gunman Clive 3 in an instant if one came to be. Speaking of mixing things up, it would be interesting if he did a similar thing to what image&form are doing with their Steamworld series (another gaming gem), keeping the style but experimenting with genres. I will likely support this developer regardless.
