Re: Soapbox: Dark Souls’ Ruthless Recipe Perfectly Suits Switch’s Evolving Audience

Shinobi1Kenoby

@iLikeUrAttitude you literally can’t tell the difference with Doom unless you sit there intentionally scrutinising the screen for differences. When you’re playing the game, you wouldn’t know, I own it on all three formats and love thr Switch version the most just because of how much more accessible it is and how totally insane it is that’s running like that on something so small.

Re: Nintendo's Track Record With Direct Broadcasts Points to Another One Happening Very Soon

Shinobi1Kenoby

There was a HUGE list of games missing from yesterday’s direct considering it was a 2018 preview direct, albeit a mini direct.

The rumblings and hints were for a Direct in Jan, which wasn’t the mini one. January 11th’s broadcast date would mean a January main Direct still has 20 days left to count as a January direct... that would certainly fit the hints, the rumours and the 20 day max broadcast day gap table above.

Re: Soapbox: Switch's Rampant Success Is Proof Positive That You Should Never Write Off Nintendo

Shinobi1Kenoby

The Wii U was an incredible idea that really showed what Nintendo’s next major idea was. It was amazing and also a shame at the same time. You could see the seed of the future but there wasn’t enough tech there to grab the attention of gamers and developers.

The switch is essentially a fully mobilised and fully functioning Wii U.

The Seitch is literally the single most impressive gaming platform ever conceived and is where video gaming should be headed. If the PS5 is yet ANOTHER graphical upgrade to the same tired format it will be short sighted and very very disappointing.

Graphics have now reached the knee of a tangential curve; needing a greater input compared to the incremental rise in output and should no longer be the focus for ever generation. The cost of chips and programming time based purely on graphics need only be revised every 7-10 years before you’ll see any worthwhile improvement from the hardware.

The PS5 should really be looking to copy the Switch format in everyway but using mobile hardware chipsets in 3 years from now and deliver a Switch with PS4 Pro visuals and 4K docked capability.

The final necessary step in video gaming is for crossplay on ALL online multiplayer games.

Re: Amazon Switch Game Placeholders Add More Weight To January Nintendo Direct Rumours

Shinobi1Kenoby

@YummyHappyPills this will Be to say what is coming from Jan to Summer. They don’t tend to do huge announcements of games that are miles off. They are leaning towards unveiling the imminent schedule to keep interest streaming month to month.

I expect it will be some games finally dated and priced along with a few big third party surprises in line with Doom and LA Noire like at the end of last year.

Re: Nintendo Has Reportedly Delayed the Roll-Out of 64GB Switch Game Cartridges

Shinobi1Kenoby

They’ll all come out in due course as and when required.

I quite like it. Massively remaniscent of the megadrive/snes era, each boosting when they hit the next big benchmark in cartridge tech.

Anyone remember the “24 MEG” proudly emblazoned on the cover for Earthworm Jim that we’d fonally made it to 24MB storage capacity?

You never know, with microelectronics and transistor technology reaching new levels of ”wow!” You never know what else they couldn’t squeeze into a Switch Cart, before the end of the Switch’s lifespan you could see a “Super FX Chip” type upgrade to certain games, as opposed to a One-X and Pro approach that wants you to buy a whole new console at twice the price for sod-all real upgrade. Much prefer cartridge based gaming to discs.

Re: Nintendo Has Reportedly Delayed the Roll-Out of 64GB Switch Game Cartridges

Shinobi1Kenoby

If developers haven’t fully adopted the 32gb carts yet, can’t see any real rush on the 64gb carts. I think once third parties deliver their second wave titles in 2018 and they are confirmed as being in 32gb carts, and they make a profit, then there’s a requirement for the 64gb carts.

Nintendo games themselves won’t rewuire 64gb for a long time as their compression programmers seem to close to working genuine voodoo on how much game they can squeeze into such a tiny space.

Re: We Can't Ignore The Switch, Says Sony's Head Of Corporate Planning

Shinobi1Kenoby

@Danpal65 the innovation isn’t to dabble into mobile gaming, it is to make the whole home gaming platform fully mobile. Giving the greatest freedom, accessibility and flexibility to your favourite hobby.

No more waiting for the TV, no more waiting till you get home, no more waiting till all your friends are at their screens in their house, all coordinated, you can all log in and team play literally anywhere, anytime

Re: We Can't Ignore The Switch, Says Sony's Head Of Corporate Planning

Shinobi1Kenoby

Switch is the only innovative and valid platform this gen and consumers are recognising that.

Sony’s, play it cool, we don’t need to worry about Nintendo as Wii U was a cataclysmic failure, attitude may start to wane.

The Switch is an awesome piece of gaming hardware and now Sony’s ears are open it’d be worth putting money on how long it will take until their next copycat brain fart happens to play catch up, just like the “Move” incident.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Makes Top 20 Debut in the UK Charts

Shinobi1Kenoby

Utter shame. I never got into previous xenoblade games, despite owning them. The 100+ hours aspect always put me off. I presume I’m missing out.

This time I thought, I’ll go for it, bought the collectors edition and played and finished episode I at the weekend..... absolutely awesome game and already looking forward to prequellig I and X once I finish this.

Cannot recommend it enough. The storyline, characters, worlds, action and graphics are second to none. I just think this type of game will always have accessibility issues when it comes to attracting the general market and will remain a niche style of game.

Re: Poll: Have Your Say on the Best Main Series 3D Mario and Zelda Games

Shinobi1Kenoby

@GC-161 no. That’s your opinion not a fact.

The fact that pretty much all games use the camera and control systems employed in Ocarina of time that did not exist in Mario64 is the point.

Yes Mario64 was one of the most ground breaking games ever, but the complexities developed in Zelda are what remain as a blueprint for most of modern gaming. Fact

Re: Poll: Have Your Say on the Best Main Series 3D Mario and Zelda Games

Shinobi1Kenoby

@carlos82 by that same train of thought breath of the wild is a Wii U game that was ported to Switch. But you class BotW as a Switch game? All over the place, or changing the argument where it best suits you.

Twilight was a wii game, blatant fact. It hasn’t a limited run and muted release on GameCube so not to annoy fans that had waited and didn’t buy wii in day one. Exactly the same as BotW.

Neither was a port, twilight on Wii was actually and enhanced version and played better than the GameCube version also.

Re: Poll: Have Your Say on the Best Main Series 3D Mario and Zelda Games

Shinobi1Kenoby

@GC-161 I think you’ve totally mis understood anything I’ve said.
Mario continues to be one the most successful and consistently high quality franchises ever.

The point I’m making is that Zelda revolutionised the 3D exploration in gaming worlds, more than any other game, that is still evident in games reading today.

The gaming industry owes more to the leaps made in Zelda than in Mario. Fact.
