Super Rare Games has teamed up with Italian developer Forge Reply to physically release Joe Dever's Lone Wolf on the Switch. Pre-orders open next week on 11th April for $32.54 / £29.99 / €33.99 and there'll be a total 4,000 copies available.
The Super Rare edition of this game will include a gorgeous cardboard slipcover, 20-page full-colour artbook, interior artwork, exclusive sticker and three trading cards selected from a five-card set. Take a look below:
Here's a bit about the game, from the Super Rare PR:
With Joe Dever’s Lone Wolf, Forge Reply has evolved the classic “choose your own adventure” format enhancing non-linear narration with actual role-playing game elements, such as a unique turn-based combat system, inventory and upgrade mechanics, as well as an interactive world map. The story fits within the official continuity of Joe Dever’s beloved fantasy saga, with a brand-new adventure in four acts. In order to prevail over his enemies, Lone Wolf will have at his disposal a diverse arsenal of weapons, powerful magical disciplines and his signature sword, the fabled Sommerswerd.

Interesting choice for a physical. Considering how long the books went on before Dever's passing, the included collectibles are a bit on the weak side — "trading cards" aren't my first thought regarding the adventures of gamebook-literature's favorite psionic warrior.
Fun game, but an odd choice imo. Cool for those who want this though!
I've never heard of this game before. I like the artwork on the box though.
My FLGS has a lot of physical editions of Lone Wolf. They don't even require a console
Ive collected every book in the series, the desktop rpg and already own the digital download. This is just another item in my collection. Wonder how many I need to order to get all 5 cards
Won't buy more from SRG unless they release something very special. Can't with good conscience support a company run by a guy who publicly states he "strongly dislike Japanese booby games."
Never got round to playing this but always wanted to, this could be that time. I'd of preffered a nicer/brighter cover art.
I wasn't really planning on getting this, as the reading would probably give me headaches, but... I love the style. Just might get my first SRG.
@tobibra I strongly dislike Japanese booby games, too. Also it's conscience, like con-science, like fake-science, like Dead or Alive jiggle effects.
@aznable I don't mind that you dislike them. But I mind that I saw it on their website, I belive a publisher should not speak ill of a subset of games on their website. Not bought from them since, obviously just my personal stance.
Thanks for the correction on the typo ^_^
EDIT: seems like that comment I saw in January is gone now. So no biggie.
I loved these books as a kid. In fact, I'd credit them for getting me into reading. I wish I could say I loved the game. It's still primarily a text based choose your own adventure but the combat is quick time events instead of dice or a numbers game. It does really capture the spirit of the books but I just find it difficult to stay engaged. I guess after nearly 35 years, I've just grown out of it.
Good writings, cool qte fightings
I want to order Joe Dever's Lone Wolf but on the SRG I can't see buy or order button?
£30-? The digital is £4- on the Mexican eShop for Brits who have a card that works on North American eshops. This release is only for hard core fans of the Deververse. Having never heard of the game/books before I won't be punting up thirty queen's heads for this release. But I will get it in digital some time particularly if it's in sale.
Everyone seems to be on the same page.... odd choice.
This has been in my wishlist for a while. Is it any good?
@invictus4000
Yes it is!
@tobibra Who cares? I strongly dislike tomatoes, but that doesn't mean I think they're evil, or that you're a terrible person if you like them.
@invictus4000 Depends on how much gameplay you expect. It hews very closely to its source material, and I'd actually say it's comparable to the Hands of Fate games, with the game functioning as a dungeon master of sorts while you make choices at pre-ordained portions of the story.
The key differences between this and HOF are that combat isn't in real time in this one, and you have to have the minimum level in a given stat to be allowed to make certain choices, as in the original gamebooks.
@CrazyZelda79 thank you so much I definitely will be on SRG in 4 days time. Going to be my first purchase in SRG hopefully.
Glad I waited. Hopefully GameFly will stock it.
@Lionyone "This release is only for hard core fans of the Deververse." I think you absolutely identified what this physical release is all about. It's a very niche game and I'd have a hard time seeing anyone finding it worth the 30 Pounds except those who have an alcove with candles set up around their Lone Wolf books, decagon dice and portrait of Joe Dever.
Personally I'd be more excited if the books were being reprinted
There goes more funds.....
