It is the reason I avoided it. I think Kojima is up his own bum and is a terrible story teller. As the trailers rolled in for this game it just looked like an opportunity for him to show all his famous friends he has playing as NPCs. It just looked like an ego trip.

I can never really comment on the quality of the game as I haven't played it and have no intention of playing it but I understand that Kojima has his fans and he may find new ones who stumble accross his game, and may turn off people who did like his previous games also.

The one thing Kojima is though is his own man, no doubt about that.

It wasn't even a game that got universal praise, there were a number of websites who didn't rate the game so MsJubilee's comment doesn't even work in that sense.

I can only consider the game as a whole not breakdown all the gameplay elements that have existed since games were invented.

I have no real love for Kojima or any interest in the game but your statement of "If it were somebody else that made Death Stranding, would've been ridiculed on the spot" holds no water as the bottom line is no one else in the world would have dreamt up a game like it.

He is an original if nothing else.

I think it is a tad unfair to label PS4 sales Wii U-esque as it is the expected sales of a system at the natural end of its life cycle, whereas the Wii U was just a disaster.

There are 20 SNES games available already, many of them stone cold classics. If you have beat them all already in 3 months then I suggest you play games too much and need to find other activities to partake in.

Sorry but when the King is already available no one is gonna buy the wannabe, especially when it doesn't look too great.

I have Garou too and it looks fantastic but I think SF3 still has the edge. It is great to have them both on the one console!

600 frames of animation per character they say but that looks stilted and rubbish to me. No 2D fighter has yet to beat the animation of the fighters in Street Fighter 3.

So glad to have the Anniversary collection on Switch despite its issues.

They still got 5 Nintendo published titles in the top 10 and all the Nintendo titles in the top 40 all increased in sales except Sword and Shield who had minor drops.

Considering as you say there were no real deals then that can only be considered a win for Nintendo.

I thought Switch might suffer this week in the UK as most of the real savings were for Xbox and Playstation so for 5 of the top 10 games to be exclusively on Switch (OK 4 really) is some achievement.

It really is the year of Luigi also, people love that green guy!

Edit: Also Ring Fit Adventure selling more than Death Stranding and GTA V makes me chuckle.

I put zero stock in what analysts say whether it be positive or negative.

Yes I remember commenting that I appreciated the mini reviews as a way to deal with the sheer amount of games but I think it was only done once or twice.

This isn't only a Nintendo Life thing, other established sites like even the great Eurogamer are falling prey to it. Controversy over great content as they need the clicks. It is pretty sad.

Edit: Not that I am perfect, I often contribute to those clicks.

I addressed that by recognising Pokemon articles generate the clicks but I still expect fair coverage of other games.

I seem to recall at one point that Nintendo Life pledged to review every game. Now I don't expect that with 20+ releases some weeks, but I expect more than are being published. And I would much prefer them over "Nintendo's stock level fluctuated again" type rubbish.

Here is a question for you Nintendo Life:

Where are all the game reviews? The Touryst, Alien Isolation etc. You have seriously dropped the ball with this for the last while.

Oh sure Pokemon article no. 256 might generate all the clicks but some of us would still appreciate some actual game reviews just to get a feel for games if nothing else.

Get on it and stop chasing the drama like a sunday rag.

Edit: The Touryst has been reviewed as it happens but did not show up in the reviews section so I missed it. I maintain there are still too many throwaway articles and not enough reviews though.

Seriously bud, just find another game series to enjoy. When every comment from you is a mini essay it is clear to see you need to get away from these games and find something else to enjoy.

These games aren't going to change, it is already confirmed future games won't feature all the monsters, you just have to accept it as the masses clearly have.

I mean this in a constructive way, not to be rude.

Having read through the comments I repeat my sentiment from an earlier comment: I think everyone still getting upset about it should just find a way to move on.

I add that it is unhealthy to get so wound up about it. It is just a videogame.

Complaints towards Activision, EA etc are usually for their scummy microtransaction business practices so I don't see the connection, but you do you.

I don't think anyone here is saying they want a worse game. People are just stating the facts which is that the games sold well regardless of all the complaining.

For the record I don't play Pokemon games as they bore me so I am not bothered either way about the quality of these games.

Actually it shows that Game Freak can make the games how they want and still reap the benefits.
The games sales show those complaining loudest were just very loud but also a very minor fraction of potential customers.

I think everyone still getting upset about it should just find a way to move on.

Capcom are responsible for some of my favourite games of all time, including my absolute favourite RE4, but they don't half take the piss at times.

Crash Bandicoot released in June with little to no competition at the time.

Pokemon Sword is number 1 in the individual formats chart. These Pokemon games are probably near 10 million sold now. All the ranting and raving of Pokemon fans did nothing.

The indiviual formats chart has Pokemon Sword at number 1 ahead of PS4's CoD. So you can have a good cry about that.

Missed the opportunity to show more third party games.

But this is what I wanted. The handheld division and console division working together focusing on one front making great game after great game.

If a Pro Switch comes out it will be interesting to see how it may splinter the focus.

Remember this for when the stock goes down again for whatever reason and everyone loses their mind. In summary, stock fluctuates.

Yeah my comment about Death Stranding is only about its sales performance rather than its quality as a game (it's not for me but to each their own). You make a good point about the second hand market, thats where people will take a risk on it and buy it cheap.

Yep, Nintendo has a real presence again in shops. Great to see.

Six Nintendo exclusives in the top 10 in the UK is quite ridiculously good.

Also interesting to see Luigi's Mansion 3 is above Death Stranding this week. I think now the Kojima fans have bought the game it will sink without a trace. Ring Fit Adventure will probably outsell it in the end (its sales increased this week by a third).

How do you know Nintendo sees it as the next Wii Fit? It hasn't branded it as the Switch Fit or marketed it in the same way and actually approaced it as more of a game than Wii fit was.

Nintendo will easily make their money back on the game and moreso, if they haven't already, so I really doubt they care if it reaches Wii Fit levels. You forget it was only revealed last month.

I am just pointing out it can definitely be considered a success already with fantastic second week performance no matter how much you want to have a dig at it for some reason.

But hey at least PS4 beat Wii sales so you can get off on that eh?!

Ringfit is certainly not meh when it comes to sales (regardless of the quality of the actual game) considering it had a second week in Japan nearly as strong as the first and a better second week in the UK than its first.

It will surpass Labo comfortably I imagine, and most games released this year too.

Weird to not point this out from the original source:
