Honestly just a couple of exclusive games is all I need to buy a console and between Last of Us, Uncharted 4 and God of War the PS4 has met its targets.

Ironically enough Street Fighter V is another massive major factor but I consider it in the same bracket as Bayonetta 2 and 3 in that Sony have funded it so is a second party title pretty much.

With Microsoft I agree, apart from Killer Instinct (love it) their first party line up for Xbox One has been an absolute disgrace this gen.

Sony I disagree, I only played Last of Us on PS4 and it was honestly astoundingly good. God of War I only bought this year and I am on my third playthrough and it is so far my game of this year. They have had other great exclusives worthy of the system.

My view is first and second party exclusives best remain exclusive but third party games should be open to all. But I am also realistic and don't expect the likes of CoD etc to show up on Switch for technical reasons and if others do they bought the wrong console.

I accept I can be a hothead and quick to judgement but I am also open to having a discussion. Morrow and I had a decent one.

I will say your line "Exclusivity and portability are what's keeping the Switch alive right now." is a bit ridculous because of course it is important like it is to any other console. Exclusives and unique features are whay keeps alive all consoles.

Companies will never know if their game will sell well or not.

Unless a game dev has been paid to keep a game exclusive I will never begrudge a third party game dev (not even then to be honest as I didn't pay them!) releasing their games on multiple consoles because it increases the chance of their games doing well and allowing them to keep making games.

Edited to make sense.

Was this Travis game actually described as a Switch exclusive? Genuine question as I am not sure.

I was there for the Resident Evil 4 betrayal in 2005. It was meant to be exlusive to Gamecube and Shinji Mikami said he would chop his own head off it was ported....but it was ported to PS2 and then every console ever since pretty much (and til the end of time probably).

RE4 is a masterpiece but only 1 million of the 20 odd million of the Gamecube userbase bought it so it had to be ported to recoup costs. It sold much better on PS2 even though it was not a perfect port.

My priority is third party game devs actually make enough money to stay in business and keep making great games. It should be everyones priority.

First and second party exclusives will still continue for Nintendo and Sony.

Because they need to be told.

On a serious note, if this stuff worries you so much you need to drop gaming and find something else in your life. Game devs are dropping like flys and exclusives from independent game devs aren't really possible anymore as they are denying themselves millions of potential customers.

What was your view on Cuphead coming to Switch?

Exclusives should remain first and second party. Third party should be accross the board of possible.
