Re: Review: Starlink: Battle For Atlas - A Shining Example Of Open World Star Fox Done Right

Also, keep in mind that both IGN and EuroGamer are notorious for handing out laughably low rankings. Very few people take those two seriously.

In my opinion, anyone that scores Starlink below an 8 has a) not played enough of it or b) is genuinely incompetent.

Remember, there’s no such thing as a “professional reviewer.” Opinion is subjective. A reviewer is just some guy, who is often abysmally wrong.

I demand a fix for the performance issues that I, and the majority of players, have never encountered or considered a big deal.

100+ hours in handheld mode alone, and I have never noticed ANY of the “gamebreaking” graphical and/or performance issues that a handful of people swear by.

I hope they get that frame rate up above 2000 for you superhuman, obsessive-compulsive [removed] that see things the rest of us can’t.

In the meantime, this’ll remain one of my favorite Switch games.

@SwitchForce

If missing the point was a sport, you’d be an Olympian. Based on a number of your posts, you seem to have a real talent for it.

No one is complaining about the price. Most of us would pay more of it meant a high quality online network with the bells and whistles that have become an industry standard.

Nice job on calling everyone else “trolls” while aimlessly talking trash to them and taking a sycophantic Nintendo-worshipping stance. The irony hit me so hard that I almost lost consciousness.

The subject of the article was a discussion about the quality of the online service. Feel free to share your opinion. Or don’t. But don’t try to shame people for engaging on the subject. That was the entire point.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Has Stumbled With Switch Online, But It Can Learn From Its Mistakes

Ryzaerian

Nintendo has always been painfully behind (like 15 years) when it comes to online functionality.

Like many people, I have no interest in playing retro titles. They get old after just a few minutes.

I’d already resigned myself to paying 20 bucks a year for cloud saves. I’ll still take that over having no way to back up save data. The fact that it was our reality for over a year is astonishing.

Would I like to see monthly freebies, an actual online network service, voice chat, or a trophy/achievement system? Absolutely. But this is Nintendo. When it comes to industry standards they are, and have always been, completely out-of-touch.

@Turbo857

Absolutely. I’m really digging the open world format.

@sethharris1191

I’ve put in about 12 hours at this point, all of them in handheld mode. Performance is a non-issue. It runs great.

@Wouwter

That statement actually makes sense. Whereas there are certainly considerable differences in the design of these two games, there are overlaps (surface/space travel, space combat, resource gathering, scanning the fauna, open world) that reminded me of No Man’s Sky. And Starlink is, in my opinion, much better at the execution of those concepts.

Re: Sega Wants Simultaneous Video Game Releases Worldwide

Would love to see Yakuza and PSO on the Switch.

And yeah, Vita is dead. Vita felt dead three years ago, in terms of the complete lack of support and new game development.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved my Vita and wish it hadn’t died. But it is what is.

Worst of all, the serial number sticker on my Vita rubbed off, so I can’t even get my six bucks or whatever for it at GameStop. 😁

Re: Fortnite Is Getting A $30 Physical Edition On Switch Courtesy Of Warner Bros.

Ryzaerian

@Supadav03

My assessment was two paragraphs. You focused entirely on the first sentence.

Platform demographics aside, it’s still overhyped trash. The entire BR genre is, in my opinion, vastly inferior to other (tdm, ctf, respawn-based objective) multiplayer modes, and virtually all other games that cater to competitive multiplayer.

Fortnite’s popularity is that of the fidget spinner. It -is- popular, but truthfully doesn’t deserve to be. And while marketing plays a significant factor, part of the blame lays squarely in the lap of purchased, myopic media. And Ryan’s weekly odes to Fortnite reek of blatant sycophantism.

Vanilla Ice sold a lot of units too. That doesn’t mean he made quality music. And Fortnite is the current Vanilla Ice of the video game industry.

We don’t need a Fortnite article every week. To be honest, we don’t need any.

Yes, that’s my opinion. That’s what comments are for, aren’t they?

Re: Fortnite Is Getting A $30 Physical Edition On Switch Courtesy Of Warner Bros.

@ryancraddock

It’s a severely overhyped, trash game popularized by 5th graders on smartphones.

Far better games are overlooked and neglected because people like yourself keep shoving it up our collective you-know-what. You, in particular, appear to have an obsession on the subject. It’s shoddy journalism.

If you don’t like my opinion, you’re welcome to ignore it.

Re: New Study Suggests That Playing Violent Video Games Leads To Increased Physical Aggression

Ryzaerian

@ryancraddock

1) The premise of the article is trash. It’s disappointing and irresponsible to propagate this garbage here, of all places.

This issue has been studied extensively for well over a decade, with no significant correlation between the two visible in heaps of research.

2) I’ll give you $20 if you can go a full month without fanboy plugging the word “Fortnite.”

Re: Fortnite Had A Whopping 78.3 Million Players In August, Largest Numbers Ever Recorded

Ryzaerian

I don’t get it. I don’t. It’s a mediocre, overhyped, repetitive, boring fad. It got old in under an hour.

Part of the blame falls upon the video game media. Stop hyping and sensationalizing this trash for easy headlines.

Splatoon 2 is better. Paladins is better. Hell, Hungry Hungry Hippos is better.

“Love it or hate it, Fortnite is one of the most important parts of today’s gaming scene.”

Dude, shut up. This game is popularized by 5th-graders on smartphones. Fortnite is the fidget spinner of the video game industry.

It is absolutely true that psychotherapeutic medication is complicated, and often comes with many unwanted side effects. It’s true that some medication fails to achieve its desired effect.

It is also true that some psychotherapeutic medication literally saves lives.

Making blanket statements about the perceived ineffectiveness of ALL medication, discouraging people who may desperately need it from ever giving it a shot, is beyond irresponsible and destructive.

Save your pop psychology for a more appropriate medium, and don’t ever discourage anyone from trying something that might give them relief and potentially save their life.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Excuses Regarding Cloud Saves Aren't Good Enough

Ryzaerian

I wholeheartedly agree.

It’s 2018. There is absolutely no valid reason for the inability to backup a save, in any game, ever. This has been the industry standard for way over a decade.

The price of the service doesn’t matter. Stop talking about it. It’s irrelevant. I’d much rather pay 60 bucks for a good service than 20 bucks for something that doesn’t fully accomplish what it was supposed to do. We didn’t ask for a cheap service. We asked for a good one.

Nintendo’s technological ineptitude isn’t even the worst part of these discussions. The worst part are the trolls and apologists who will spout off above and below this post, and tell us that we’re histrionic, immature, etc. for asking for the ability to backup all of our saves.

You see what I’m saying? He’s oblivious.

He writes these insane, self-absorbed, condescending, hypocritical essays every time he gets on.

No one takes him seriously on this site. Nobody. He’s arguably the most obnoxious individual I’ve ever met in any online interaction, and that’s saying a ton.

It’s gotta be a personality disorder or something. No one’s head is that far up their own ass.

Re: Nintendo Offering Exclusive Splatoon 2 Gear For 12-Month Switch Online Subscribers

Ryzaerian

Please stop saying Splatoon 2, or any other game for that matter, will “die” because of Fortnite.

Fortnite is trash compared to Splatoon. It’s an average game taking advantage of an inexplicable, passing fad toward the innately boring battle royale genre. It lacks the depth of Splatoon and doesn’t even come remotely close in terms of fun.

You wanna play Fortnite? Knock yourself out. But stop assuming the rest of us have terrible taste in video games, and stop saying ridiculous things.

Splatoon isn’t going anywhere. And in 6 months, Fortnite will be a relic.

Re: Nintendo Website Suggests Multiple Switch Games Will Not Support Cloud Saves

Ryzaerian

@Ensemen

Oh yeah, definitely.

Most people thought it was unacceptable that a save backup feature wasn’t available at launch, and that all saves were local-only. They took a lot of criticism for it, and tons of people lost their saves due to various scenarios, regardless of what the myopic fanboy crowd here will try to tell you. I’m one of those people.

So in May of this year, they announced that you’ll be able to backup your save game data in the Cloud. And at that point, most people breathed a sigh of relief.

They did include the disclaimer that it will work with “most” games, not all. But nobody expected them to drop the ball with first-party, highly popular titles like Splatoon 2.

Re: Nintendo Website Suggests Multiple Switch Games Will Not Support Cloud Saves

Ryzaerian

The people claiming “they don’t see why it’s a problem” have a staggering lack of imagination and common sense.

It’s a problem because if your Switch is stolen, lost, or experiences certain hardware/software issues, you could lose hundreds of hours of gameplay and progress. It’s already happened to many people.

So yes, it’s a major problem. And not having a way to back up saves in 2018 is laughable. This was an industry standard 15 years ago.
