I'll dl this just to see what Dark Souls is like. That Bandai Namco made this game incompatible with cloud saves is still irritating, imo.
2018 and some people are going to experience O&S for the first time.
Enjoy!
@IronMan30 Just bear in mind it can be a little bit of a slow burner at first, not everyone clicks with it straight away. I rented it on 360 first time around and was getting frustrated for ages before it suddenly clicked and I got addicted.
Downloaded and ready to go, will be nice to check out what the port is like before deciding whether to get the full game. As long as performance is reliable though, I think I'll be happy.
@geordie
Joycon sales are gonna explode
Yeah as noted above, this game just doesn't click with everyone. I'm more of a love-to-hate it fan myself. I insist on using the whip, which is the worst weapon in the game.
I'll stick to the Xbox 360 version though, I heard the remaster wasn't very good. I would be curious to know if Blighttown still lags and stutters like nuts though. (Apparently it does not on PC).
Does anyone know if it's necessary to have the Online service to play this trial?
I'll download it to see how it compares to the PS3 version, which I'm playing at the moment, just the DLC and final boss to go.
@Onion Blighttown was (oddly enough) playable at one of those famed demo events we love to hear about but never experience in Europe. Zero lag. The rest of the game though? We'll see
eh. I have the PS3 ver, PTDE on steam and the remaster on steam so...I think i'm all DS1'd out. Years ago, I even went so far as to get the platinum trophy on my PS3.
Its a good game but its definitely showing age with its weapon and mechanic balance.
Just a fair warning. Take this like you would a high rank hunt in monster hunter or you're gonna get minced if you don't take it slow. The undead burg may be the first area after tutorial area, but the characters it gives you aren't exactly meant to just plow right through.
I know what I am doing this weekend. 12 hours of dark souls.
I’m gonna wait for the trilogy :3
And I don't have my Switch, so unhappy right now 😡
Cool, something to gnaw on before Splatfest starts.
@Blizzia
If that's the case, I would definitely consider getting the Switch remaster, especially if handheld mode can handle Blight Town.
I'll definitely try it. Don't know if I'll be bying since I already own the PC version and I don't think I have the patience for it but still.
This game doesnt interest me at all and this has nothing to do with the Switch.
Doom and Wolf2 got me intrigued and i dont like fps that much, i like action games but Dark Souls just seems boring to me
Ah, it's finally upon us.
Don't think me and my bro are gonna stop playing Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate though. Will buy this game and put it on the next in line list.
@Onion
You are aware the Switch is much now powerful than the 360 right?
Got it downloaded.
At one point this game interested me but with that huge delay I don't care any more.
@Onion If you're on the fence I'd be happy to test it myself when it launches. You'd probably need to remind me though, lol.
Though I'm guessing Digital Foundry will be on it as well.
@steventonysmith
Right, but that doesn't mean they'll actually fix the issue and some games have suffered performance loss in handheld mode already.
@Blizzia
Thanks! Digital Foundry would definitely be a good place to check, chances are good they'll mention Blight Town as that area was one of the most notorious for frame rate drops. If they somehow miss that, I might check back around here and see what people are saying about it.
Oh cool. I did the PS4 one. I'll jump on this one also.
They seem to be putting good amount of work into these and they not charging full $60 price like others. Hopefully it will work out for them.
I wanted this game until they decided to push it out 4 months and now my gaming backlog is too big for it. Also there's now the full blown trilogy available same time on PS4, which super kills it for me. Kind of irritating, if they can get the full trilogy on switch i'll wait for now. Maybe it's a pick up after the price goes down to like 20 bucks lol. I may still try the demo to see how it plays, but that also depends on whether you have to have switch online, because i'm skipping their online until it's better bang for the buck than right now, and don't want to use the 7 day trial at this point just for this.
Having never played Dark Souls before, I'd love to check this out. Will it require an online subscription to play? I hope not, since I haven't signed up for the online service yet and I'd like to put that off for as long as I can.
@GraveLordXD Thanks, I was referring to the Network Test though
@GraveLordXD @ilikeike @tourjeff Yes, almost certain you’ll need NSO, at least to play online with others. If you go to the eShop’s section for NSO and click to see Online Play to see the list of games that are supported, the Dark Souls demo is at the top of the list.
It’s possible they’ll let you play single player in the demo without NSO but it IS a server test and it’s restricted to certain hours so it may still require connection to the servers to play solo. I could be wrong there, that part’s unclear, but this demo IS listed to be supported by NSO.
There is a free trial though, good way for them to get people to use up their free trial right away...
Downloaded and looking forward to it. I love this genre of Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Ire: Blood Memory (mobile) and Animus (mobile) style games.
If you’re new to this type of game, be warned: you will make mistakes, and you will be punished harshly for them.
But in time, you’ll learn to love it. 😁
@MagicEmperor
Don’t kill the messenger, but the test doesn’t start for another two days. 😁
@GraveLordXD I agree, especially since we wouldn’t be needing to have this conversation if this didn’t get delayed. And I hope for people’s sakes that my interpretation is wrong, heck I had more than a few friends who were upset when MHW’s server test demo was PlayStation Plus only (another game that doesn’t necessarily REQUIRE online). Of course, Capcom ending up doing a second demo time later on that let anyone play. So that’s I suppose a possibility too. But given they haven’t been upfront about needing NSO to play this, it will be a shame if it does indeed require it. I plan to subscribe once I’m done with the Xenoblade Torna Expansion but this demo might force me to start sooner, as I haven’t tried Dark Souls and would like to give it a go. :-/
Sits up in chair, wakes up
Say what we can do when nah? I'm all over this. I get to finally test drive this acclaimed game (and see if I want to be bothered with it lol). I'll be out of commission more than likely Friday after my wisdom teeth extraction, so hopefully I'll be right to play it Saturday and Sunday.
@tourjeff it is and I say for shame Nintendo for shame
@ilikeike need subs for the test boo Nintendo. Wonder if they will lock other demo's behind this pay wall also
@GraveLordXD exactly, this has left a bad taste in my mouth.
Excited to try it out, made me sad that I need online for a network test. But looking at the state of voice chat, it's clear that someone at the big N must be smoking some really good reefa.
Maybe there will be a regular demo down the line.
