Re: Best Monster Hunter Games, Ranked - Switch And Nintendo Systems

Runo

Generations Ultimate was wild. The hunter art stack was just unprecedented. I was a Switchaxe user and started to mix and tap random hunter arts that combined into the coolest unique special animation I've ever seen. Also playable palico including driving the tank!

MH4U shoutout to best big boi Shah Dalamadur. I miss my huge snake.

Re: Talking Point: What's The Best Nintendo Remake Ever?

Runo

I want to say Windwaker so bad but nah it's a remaster.

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is the bomb. Remade music, fresh graphical overhaul, and the epilogue was fanfreakintastic. They need this crew back for a Xenoblade Chronicles X remake.

Re: Random: Nintendo Pulls Drink Driving Game From Switch eShop

Runo

Silly Europeans and their rating system.

On the topic of indie games there is just so much junk out there. I don't care about the game, but I really don't understand the market for having thousands of single digit sellers like this. Why clutter the library with them?

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Tops Another 'Greatest Games' List

Runo

Pretty solid list. C'mon tho for being UK based I'd thought they fit Xenoblade Chronicles 1 somewhere in there. Bayonetta mention so hell yeah. Congrats to BoTW.

WTF happened to Halo man that series was the staple of first person shooters back then. I remember seeing long lines for Halo 3 on the news. Couch Co-op just hasn't been the same since.

Re: Gallery: Here's A Look At The Gorgeous Xenoblade Chronicles Original Soundtrack Trinity Box

Runo

The soundtracks are phenomenal (except that tyrant theme in 2 screw that migraine inducing alarm clock), but man I hope Yoko Shimomura comes back someday. Definitive Edition was my dream team of composers with the iconic title theme to the melancholic build up of the Agniratha theme. Satorl Marsh's bass line just ascends. Hell they used Unfinished Business for a single scene.... and I didn't complain.

Re: Top 100 Best Nintendo Games Of All Time

Runo

Hard disagree on Xenoblade 3, it made me like Bayonetta 3's plot because I came in knowing what actual bad writing looked like. I still give it an 8 but that second half writing was embarrassing. I'd switch it with X, a port couldn't come any faster.

Love the Zelda games but gotta give a shout out to Spirit Tracks. Probably my favorite incarnation of Princess Zelda.

Sakurai's "Meteos" (DS) sweeps Tetris. Bravely Default also needs some mentions fr.

Re: Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster Launches On Nintendo Switch This September

Runo

C'mon the English dub was right there. Bandai basically dug this series from the grave to give us hope only to pack the series in a fresh coffin before kicking it back under.

I've seen people go from hyped to not bothering with a demaster once they saw the lack of English voices. Gotta do these type of games right if your expectations are reviving the franchise.

Re: Talking Point: Is Tears Of The Kingdom The Scariest Zelda Game Ever?

Runo

I'm in a weird camp where Majora's Mask was not as scary as people make it out to be. Like someone previously said it was more sad that made it creepy. Amazing classic though by all means.

Honestly every Zelda game had their creepy moments. Skyward Sword had that skeleton part underneath that one temple, OOT had ReDead, Windwaker had Tingle and the Ghost Ship, etc.

I will say TotK really hit hard with its dark moments. For example, Lost Woods was so chilling the first time I entered. I really hope this game is a blueprint for a future entry planning to have a dark atmosphere throughout its entire setting. Twilight Princess related sequel maybe?

Re: Nintendo Switch Is Not "Technically Capable" Of Running Call Of Duty Games, Says CMA

Runo

Man people still play Call of Duty?

You can boast about graphics all day long, but having the same exact game just with a new coat of paint gets repetitive real quick. Hell not to mention a $60 game already watered down and cut to pieces that'll be sold as dlc for an extra $80.

IDK why courts are acting like Microsoft is acquiring Mario or something. The Xbox has been lacking exclusives and I just don't see it surviving in the long term at this pace. Sony must have some strong connections because this acquisition doesn't seem like it's going to change anything.

Re: Soapbox: Torna - The Golden Country Is One Of The Best DLCs Of All Time

Runo

Torna was fantastic. I put it up there with Bioshock 2's Minerva's Den and Splatoon 2's excellent Octo Expansion. I was admittedly not too huge on Xenoblade 2 from story to its slow combat. The relatable protagonist and mature atmosphere were a couple things I really missed from prior entries, and the DLC delivered. Really my only complaints were the Resident Evil ending and Mythra, but otherwise it's a timeless experience I hope Monolith can repeat.

Re: Nintendo And Mobile Firm DeNA Launch Joint Venture Company

Runo

There are some excellent mobile gachas. Really play a Cygames game and you'll be surprised how generous they be. I'm talking getting more character development and story than from console games such as Xenoblade 2 for example, and for free too. Never thought I'd have a mobile game listed as an all time favorite ost until I played dragalia lost.

Unfortunately, the only good gachas rarely survive the Western markets long enough because, well a lot of them are niche outside of Japan. People don't care about opening their phone to read great stories, they rather play lame casual 5 second fun monetizers like candy crush. Plus, outside publishers can get greedy just look at how Crunchyroll handled Cygames' Priconne recently. Japan has the only market and culture where that stuff has communities who can keep the good mobile games chugging.

Anyways I have despised DeNA ever since what they did to BloodBrothers. I really hope this joint venture doesn't influence Nintendo in the wrong ways.

Re: Japanese Charts: Bayonetta Origins Makes A Lukewarm Debut

Runo

Man those are some rough sales numbers. I knew it was a long shot, but I really wanted the game to succeed. Well worth the $60, but people really don't give these beautiful art styles a chance. People rather play their generic Pokémon than try games like this and Okami.

Re: Video: Splatoon 3 DLC Wave 1 Is All Style And No Substance

Runo

I'm not mad I'm just disappointed.

There were a lot of missed opportunities by bringing in the old world and it feels like it would've worked better as a free update. This is the type of paid skin I expect from Overwatch or Microsoft in general. At least the Side Order part will hit hard.

Re: Baten Kaitos Remasters Have Japanese VO Only, Frame Rate, File Size Revealed

Runo

What a deplorable decision made by Bandai, yeah email them about this. Absolutely unacceptable for an unknown franchise to get buried even further outside of Japan after getting a very rare second chance. They better not be surprised by their sales numbers if they choose to release it without EN voices even of they were just passable.

I was so stoked to get to see this game get more recognition, but to ship it out without the EN voices is bound to doom the franchise again.

Re: Feature: Game Of The Year 2022 - Nintendo Life Staff Awards

Runo

Bayonetta 3. It was so good that I stopped playing Xenoblade 3 for a month despite being in the final dungeon. The story might be missing some more sass in the dialogue, but the combat and music were bliss. Excited for Origins.

Xenoblade 3 was a great game, but I hope they wrap up the overarching plot soon because ever since Xenoblade 2 the series has been having an identity crisis jumping from mature steampunk fantasy to edgy slapstick anime with 3 trying to awkwardly balance out the two. Hoping for a Xenoblade X sequel soon.

Re: PSA: Dragalia Lost Has Ended Its Service As Planned

Runo

This game was the bomb. I mean really even the voice actors interacted with the awesome community and I thank them for that. And talk about generosity, I paid $60 for Xenoblade 2 and thought Dragalia Lost gacha had more worth in it as a free to play player.

Sure it ended, but man the characters and holy God the music (available on spotify) made it worth the final hurt. I've played some past gachas that straight up ended without closure, so it was nice to see the devs appreciate the fans all the way into the end.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Thanks Nintendo For Helping Make Bayonetta 3 A Reality

Runo

Really hope this game sells well enough for another entry. Kudos to the people and corporate supporters who believed in this group all the way through even giving them exposure like in Smash Bros.

For a game announced 5 years prior, the patience Nintendo has shown for the Bayonetta devs is praiseworthy. Rarely do I see companies believe in second chances for titles in these tough risky financial spots and I'm happy to see when it pays off like this and the Xenoblade series.

Bayonetta 3 is absolutely fab. 1 and 2 are also bundled together in a single game's purchase worth for the Switch so give the series a shot y'all.

Re: Nintendo Introduces Chloe In Fire Emblem Engage

Runo

Bruh did they hire the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 artist lol? I have more of a problem with the art style rather than the attire if I'm being honest, but frankly that's a me problem. Just gives a generic vibe for me like man this isn't Genshin, put a bit more effort into making the art unique.

Hoping the game itself is great, but this ain't it for me personally chief.

Re: Bayonetta's OG Voice Actor Responds To Online Backlash In Ongoing Dispute

Runo

As a fan of the series, this is just plain hard to watch. Her story keeps changing and people are bashing her hard by calling these inconsistencies out or even digging in her past. No way Bayonetta is a half a billion dollar franchise unless I underestimated the power of that one pachinko machine.

Wish her the best but she needs to come clean directly with Platinum and avoid any more Twitter drama. Last thing I want is to see a clearly talented voice throw her whole career away because of this mistake that could've been approached in so many better and more professional ways.

Re: Talking Point: Given The Voice Artist Controversy, Will You Be Boycotting Bayonetta 3?

Runo

I'm glad Taylor called attention to this issue, but Jennifer Hale said the right thing earlier today about a lot of people/devs who worked hard to make Bayonetta 3 happen. Buying it day one.

Still I hope Taylor and Hideki somehow get out of this on good terms. One can dream they would just add a future patch with a second EN voice option and pay Taylor good for it, I mean this entire debacle has given some huge exposure to a series that was initially approaching its release quietly. She really was a huge part of what made the character Bayonetta, equal to all of the devs involved in creating her.

Re: Bayonetta's OG Voice Actor Asks Fans To "Boycott" Third Game After PlatinumGames Wage Fallout

Runo

I'm all for the Chris Pratt comparisons tho, even Jeanne's VA called that out. Sure he's a big celebrity, but when we're talking about people who dedicated their whole lives studying and training to make a quality product? It's maddening to realize that these trained professionals wish they could get even 1% of what Pratt is making doing a subpar Mario impression.

Still going for the buy because the timing of all this just sucks balls as a fan of the series and I feel like there's a bunch of missing gaps in the story.

For those who are planning on boycotting Bayo 3 but never tried the series I seriously hope y'all consider buying and encourage others to buy Bayonetta 1 and 2 to call attention to this while still supporting the series because man frankly I don't wanna see it all end like this.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Piece Of Music In A Nintendo Game?

Runo

Xenoblade 1's Main Theme is amazing. Pressing play before it does a loop is a crime. Honestly a lot of 1's stuff just remains timeless with the kickass battle themes and area songs.

Where's the Splatoon love tho? I'm still salty they never brought back Sucker Punch by Hightide Era from Splatoon 1 in battles.

Re: Random: Hideki Kamiya Echoes Every Nintendo Fan's Wishes For The Switch Successor

Runo

I won't stand all this Wii U slander. It was an awesome console and I really enjoyed games like Xenoblade X, Warioware, and Splatoon 1 where the touch screen controls were actually smart

Problem was their marketing. When I hear Wii U I instantly think of an upgraded Wii, not a Wii successor. That's a mistake I hope Nintendo doesn't make with the Switch. If they're going a new gen call it anything but "Switch Pro" and just overhaul the controllers/engine while keeping the portability factor intact.

Re: Nintendo Shares "Thank You" Message And End Credits For Dragalia Lost

Runo

Nintendo better not leave this IP to the dust man. Never thought a mobile game of all things would ever be in my top 15 list. The lore and character growths were just sights to behold and devs even gifted us some premium currency in the end despite their consistent generosity since the game's start. And by God the music, straight up Xenoblade 1 levels for me personally.

I don't blame Cygames and Nintendo for shutting it down tho. Both companies have mobile games that require way less effort and generate more profit like FEH and that Cygames horse racing game. Still have me at day 1 if anything ever comes to fruition in the future.

Re: Nvidia Employee Comment Confirms Chip Rumoured To Be Used In 'Switch Pro' Is Real

Runo

I care less about graphics and more on performance. Splatoon 3's tri Splatfest looks like it was meant to be 4v4v4 but had to settle on an awkward 2v2v4 due to hardware limits. Speaking of online some games really need an upgrade from them potato servers. MK8 has the weirdest lag delays whenever I throw I red shell and it just floats for 30 seconds.

However, I agree component shortages and prices have most likely been a huge setback to a potential upgraded Switch model/successor any time soon. If the pandemic didn't happen I honestly think we would've heard about a new console this year.

Re: The New Fire Emblem Hero Was Created By A VTuber Designer

Runo

I feel bad knowing some people are taking their distaste of the art and conveying it directly towards the artist. I may not be a fan but uploading a condescending tweet response to the illustrator is just rude.

Other than that I hope FE devs in the future consider taking a more mature looking route when it comes to art design. The previews exerted a very bright atmosphere that just seems more akin to contemporary anime stuff as opposed to a medieval war epic. Will definitely keep an eye out to see what it has in store though.

Re: Splatoon 3 Becomes The Fastest Selling Nintendo Switch Game In Japan

Runo

Japan's Call of Duty. Having a blast so far. No toxic voice chats calling me the n word and little tweaks along with new music keeps things fresh. Not to mention logical constant updates that don't feel like they are meant to complete the game (looking at you Halo Infinite).

Can't wait to see what they have in store DLC wise and new weapon updates.

Re: Nintendo Announces End Date For Dragalia Lost

Runo

This is the one mobile game I regret never spending money on. It's generosity actually made me feel bad as a F2P player. Fully voiced text in Japanese, combat, characters, and music were all impressive. First and probably only mobile game I've never considered a cash grab.

Unfortunately it suffered from a kinda bad reputation in Japan due to some controversy from the old first director and with both Cygames and Nintendo getting bigger revenues from other mobile games with way less effort this was just it's destiny.

I really hope it gets revived in the future as a console entry. The fan base is tied up there with Okami at the top for me, they really deserve better than to see this content hit the dust forever.

Re: Talking Point: Has Nintendo Done Enough To Justify Splatoon 3's Existence?

Runo

Instant buy. This ain't no Call of Duty where you have to buy every stage and story's not included.

Nevertheless, I hope the splatfests go longer than 2 years. Splatoon 2 easily could've gone one more year so when the splatfests stopped it just felt barren.

Also they need stop that Japan exclusive gear. It was very annoying not being able to get the milky eminence jacket just because some magazine in Japan was the only one giving away a special code to obtain it.

Re: UK Charts: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Drops While Switch Sports Climbs Back Up

Runo

Numbers are in the long run. It's been great seeing the initial sales blowing out both XC2 and XCDE so far. The franchise really became something special to me ever since I joined during the 3DS/X era.

I know the game is in a pretty niche genre, but man the music and combat REALLY hit my exact taste. Hope they keep it up.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition Will Be Made Available Again At A Later Date (US)

Runo

Nintendo of America needs to address this because that was embarrassing. 3 minutes in after it went up and I waited 11 whole hours for a damn reschedule notice of all things. Cart limit reached, removed item from cart, logging me out. Worst preorder launch experience I have and ever will have.

Japan's preorders didn't have this problem and Australia went smoothly the same day. There was a month's long notice of tweet comments showing the hyped up demand and the website still failed.

Really fire whoever is in charge of prepping up the NA website servers because their infamy has only grown because of this. Likely lost profit too because people might just rethink the special edition and stick with the simple copy to avoid all this headache.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Will Reveal Some Skin, Unsurprisingly

Runo

I enjoyed 2 but man it was one of those games where if you're a public living room tv player you'll feel uncomfortable with Rex looking like a preteen scoring 2 older girls and Tora being made a modern day otaku for some weird reason. I noticed the Torna dlc never had this vibe and revealing characters like Brighid never gave me a problem because it fit her character.

3 imo fixed this with a more mature looking cast like that of 1 so the only thing I hope they bring back is fashion gear which I dearly miss from 1 and X.

Re: Dragalia Lost To End Service Later This Year

Runo

I've been through great OSTs like Xenoblade, DKC2, Chrono, but Dragalia surprised me because it's definitely up there among the greats even though it's a phone game. It was satisfying to see the side stories connect to the main story and the combat was really addicting given how unique a lot of adventures were. Their generosity put other gacha like Genshin to shame. Not to mention the awesome community having top tier memes and being really tight knit.

Really sad to see it go, I can't see myself getting into any other phone games after this. If DL does ever get revived then it'll definitely be the first time I throw cash on a gacha.
