FuRyu is publishing a new 3DS RPG from Cattle Call - the studio behind the 3DS title The Legend of Legacy - in Spring 2017 in Japan. A teaser site has just gone live.
Named The Alliance Alive, the title follows nine protagonists and takes place in a land divided into different regions with unique cultures. Weekly Famitsu refers to it as a "new classic RPG" which aims to provide the perfect balance of story and gameplay.
A sizeable world map is planned, and vehicles will be included which expand your range of actions. Furthermore, you'll be given the chance to customize your equipment and weapons.
It's not known if this title will make it to the west.

Sweetness. I'll definitely get it if it comes to NA.
Why does it have an english title if its only for Japan?
What was that?!?! That's a gameplay trailer?? I think they thought for a second that what they were showing was new to a rpg and never seen before.
With that aside I'm always up for another rpg. Didn't really touch LoL yet but when I clear a ton more back log maybe in a few more years.
@gcunit
they like english in japan for titles and such, its also used a lot on signs of restaurants or bars or,...its just a cool thing to do.they like the way the letters look, just as we like their alphabet. For japanese people our writing looks fun and exotic.
also:looks like a sweet game
Legend of legacy didnt really grab my attention
For the Horde!
@gcunit
Sorry, but was that like a serious question? O_o
I lile RPG games with world map i will wait to see how the game play i hope they make it like grandia 2 i can only dream lol
Cool, but please use another composer this time, the lifeless soundtrack completely ruined Legend of Legacy for me.
Looks like Classic RPG with 3D view.
@Rin-go It really was. I can only apologise. I haven't spent much time in Japan.
And I'm struggling to think of any Western-only products that go only by a Japanese name...
I'm all for new RPGs but I wish the trend of super cutsy deformed characters and shallow storylines would end. Give me a 3DS RPG in the vein of Legend of Dragoon or FF8.
@Yazan A 3DS remake of Grandia 2 would make me lose my mind. Haha. One of the best RPGs ever and one of the funnest battle systems.
The demo for Legend of Legacy was pretty bad and later reviews confirmed my fears. I hope this is better.
If it doesn't use the SaGa brand of levelling like LoL did, I'll be down for it.
@brandonbwii Was the music that bad? the teaser trailer had some awesome music imo... I never played it cause there was next to no story
might be cool
@invictus4000 same here i think a remake for grandia 2 for the 3ds would be amazing my favorite RPG games is skies of arcade and grandia 2 and legend of dragoon if i can play them in my 3ds i will be over the moon
Forrest Gump: the game
@gcunit They put katakana below the English words. But honestly it is because the Japanese think English sounds cool. This is nothing new. Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy (and too many others to name) have kept their English franchise titles.
@gcunit One of the most known manga in the west is called DRAGON BALL in Japan too (with our letters). They even use katakana mainly to integrate foreign words.
@Yazan Now you're speaking my language! Those are all among my favorites as well.
@invictus4000 Nice i think we have the same teste in RPG games is there a game you recommend near as good to those games i don't mind if it is old or new.
...I'm gonna keep my expectations low this time.
Oh man...same question for you. That's a toughy but here are some I can think of: Final Fantasy 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, Chrono Trigger (my favorite game of all time), Chrono Cross, Secret of Mana, Tales of the Abyss (the 3DS port is pretty cool), Xenoblade Chronicles (New 3DS port is amazing), Dragon Quest 4, 5, and 6, the first Grandia, Vagrant Story, The World Ends With You...the list is endless. Haha
@ekreig Right?? I just feel there is so much missed opportunity on 3DS with no heavier, darker RPGs.
@gcunit Haha yeah English is really 'cool' in Japan and in all the years I lived there, I saw countless examples of them being terrible at it to a hilarious effect (and vice versa here in the states). As for Japanese products that stuck with the original name...Pokemon. Haha. Haichu candy. Tomagachi. Manga...but I guess that is a little different. Hmmm...good question!
Legend of the Legacy wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. One of the things I didn't like about it was, that it did not have much of a story. I did not agree with the NL review of a 9. I would of given it a 7. I thought that this was going to be epic and it wasn't even memorable. I see the Alliance Alive video and I will take it with a grain of salt.
@invictus4000 Ditto. I've despised this art style since the FF remakes.
@invictus4000 thanks i have played most of the games in your list the only games i have not played are ff 4 5 6 and the world ends with you and dragon quest 6.
i highly recommend Radiant historia and legend of legaia , golden sun 1and 2 Xenogears and Suikoden II.
I'll keep an eye out for more info on this one. (Though as always, I doubt I have the time due to my enormous backlog of games)
