Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. Wolfenstein: Youngblood. There's no doubt about it, July is packed to bursting point with amazing Switch games, and we thought you might want to see exactly what those games are – in video form.
In fact, we've pulled together 17 Switch games – both retail and eShop – which we think you'll want to give some attention to this month.
Give the video a watch and let us know which ones you'll be investing in by leaving a comment below.

I’m excited for some of these! Really waiting for reviews on Ultimate Alliance and DQ Builders 2.
MUA3 for sure buying day 1 maybe yungblood and i think ill wait on Fire emblem
Fire Emblem for sure!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGgka2FOjpA
Fire Emblem for me
My wallet: "Can I have some mercy, please?"
Me: "HAHAHAHA"
There are also 2 interesting shmups coming, Pawarumi and Raiden V. I say it because I'm a bit obsessed by them recently.
Rolling Gunner released a few weeks ago, Psyvariar Delta had a stealth release last week, now these two.
Meanwhile, I'm playing the excellent Steredenn
Stoked for MUA3. Can't wait.
I really need to be saving money for September which is looking to be a mammoth month so I'll be holding out for now, maybe I'll get Blazing Chrome. For now I've just started a fresh file on BOTW so that'll hold my attention for some time so I can save the pennies
I was so excited that I got a coupon from Nintendo for 30% off a digital purchase for my birthday (which would be nice for this month), but it’s only select games...and nothing for the Switch. Oh well.
Dragon Quest Builders 2, for sure. Umihara Kawase Fresh! is a buy for me if I have enough funds.
I'm still waiting to find out if Fire Emblem 3 Houses will be the first Intelligent Systems Fire Emblem game to not run at 60fps. It'll be so lame if they go for a cheap looking 30fps after decades of 60fps games! I also wish Marvel ran at 60fps. Just use the Diablo engine!
Aside from my gripes I want to say thanks for the video!
Fire Emblem. I haven't been this excited for a game since Monster Hunter World 2 years ago. This may become one of my faves of the generation.
In addition to Fire Emblem, also getting God Eater 3, Red Faction, Dragon Quest Builders 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and Wolfenstein Youngblood and probably Sol Seraf if it's good.
Builders 2 and MUA3 are my focus.
@JaxonH I always enjoy your upbeat attitude. Refreshing.
The total Switch game sales for the 3 month period July-September, both on terms of the number of games sold, and the total revenue, is going to show really strong growth over the same period of 2018. There were not nearly the number of Switch consoles, nor very many compelling new game releases in 2018 compared to what we have going in 2019. September 2019 is going to be nuts!
@Damo are you guys reviewing stranger things 3? It's on my radar but not sure what to expect since i barely touched the original on mobile
No offence, but isn’t this a little redundant with the other monthly “upcoming games and accessories” article?
See, this is why I've had to leave MM2 for now.
Got the physical of Clannad coming, and the collectors edition of Fire Emblem. That will be the rest of my summer.
Wolfenstein will be a Xbox One X purchase for me. More eye candy and 60fps
I really want to support Umihara Kawase and I do like that Fresh adds some modern touches to keep it from feeling "stale" or "mechanical" right out of the gate. But when platforming skill is the point of the game, I'm not sure how I feel about items that "increase your jump height" or "reduce your damage." Granted, Sayonara was frustrating on a few occasions, but usually due to game design (vague boss battles and platform traits, excruciatingly precise angles). Otherwise, the swinging-based gameplay is highly entertaining when you get even a relative idea of how to play. I bought Sayonara at full price on the 3DS, so I don't feel as guilty grabbing this on a slight sale. (Besides, I've gotta focus on SMM2!!!)
Hopefully FireEmblem and Youngblood sell well.
YoungBlood is PC for me... Not only K&M and 60FPS are a must - but the Switch is at the bottom of my list for playing online co-op.
FireEmblem is day 1.
This month is Just MUA 3 & Fire Emblem but I will be dumping some serious time into both. Need to finish up Bayonetta 2 in the next week.
Excellent month for the Switch. My poor wallet.
@NintendoByNature Yep, we'll be reviewing that one
@Aslanmagic I got the email for my birthday too. The game list they offer the 30% off for is laughable. It's something though.
Dragon Quest Builders, Edith Finch and that sexy Pinball game for me.
I heard good things about Wolfenstein, but it's so full of extreme violence. Is that really necessary? Oh well to each his own eh.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses for me. MAYBE Blazing Chrome, as that looks absolutely ridiculous (in a good way).
@Damo great, I'm excited to hear what your thoughts are on it, or at least the reviewers thoughts. I'll hold off on my purchase til then!
@Thwomp_Stomper I hate to complain, but at least offer something for the current console
Ultimate Alliance 3 looks like a mobile game. Don't spend $60 on this junk.
They really don't make any good games anymore. What was this list? Uhg!
MUA3 is on the top of my list. The rest...eh. I've got my eye on Astral Chain in the near future and I need to save my pennies.
Really like the look of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 and never been a Fire Emblem fan but tempted by the new one. Constructor Plus has a July date though it’s been delayed so much I’m sceptical. Not got Mario Maker 2 yet but will do soon.
Clicked play on video. Saw someone other than Alex on video. Stopped video. Next article.
Day one: Blazing Chrome
When it goes on sale: Soul Seraph
Nope: everything else
I’ll get Marvel if general consensus is it’s an 8+ game.
If not, there are too many good games to waste time on an average game.
@Racthet916 Well that's a bit harsh 😝
New guy is nice, but yeah Alex is irreplacable and so so lovely.
@Shigeru Haha, I'm just busting his chops a bit. Zion is fine, but it just doesn't feel like a NL video to me unless I'm greeted with "Heeeello there, lovely people!"
Definitely getting Fire Emblem, probably getting DQ Builders 2 and possibly getting Ultimate Alliance 3. I need more time...and money.
Well, I guess I will have to buy...
easy for me only game I plan on getting in July is Fire Emblem Three Houses everything else doesn't interest me one bit
DQ Builders 2 is all for me this month.
May have to sell a kidney for September.
I have bought a pair of vouchers and plan to redeem those for Dragon Quest Builders 2 and Dragon Quest XI. I'm very much interested in getting Fire Emblem and Link's Awakening too, but don't have that much time/money.
P.S. Also getting Virtua Racing in July.
excited for the Fire Emblem for sure! Im a bit skeptic for God Eater 3, im that type of player whos really into the story, npc, side quests, open world type of game, just for comparison i currently own Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Zelda BOTW, Octopath Traveller, Ys VIII and Final Fantasy X/X-2, think this might be my cup of tea as well?
Where do you get those adjustable book shelves?
I swear setting my wallet on fire would be kinder. This is gonna hurt, hng!
Can't wait for MARVEL BABY!
Ultimate Alliance is day one, will check out that Actraiser style game as well if it reviews well enough. Going to pick up DQB 2 when it's on sale during the holidays since will have to buy 2 copies. Lots of variety this month!
@GrailUK Yeah I was a bit shocked by the comment. I don't think it's being a SJW to say that's just not ok. I can't remember the last time I heard someone use that word inappropriately. Maybe in the 90s?
This new guy seems ok in general – but that's not a nice way to speak – and I'm surprised the interwebs isn't on the attack.
Maybe fire emblem and few others, maybe not, we will see
I wait for Astral Chain in August and I am only half way through Bayonetta 1.... and I still has 2, and many bosses in Cuphead, and few other games I didn’t finish, and different indies I picked up and never played.....
I am good for now lol
I have Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order on Pre-Order, however, I'll be in San Diego for Comic Con that weekend. I go every year. I never miss it. Haven't missed it in over 10 years. So I'll just pick up thee game while I'm there.
SolSeraph is another game I plan on getting. I liked the ActRaiser games, so I want to check out this new 'spiritual successor' to that style of game.
Blazing Chrome looks like a fun Contra style game. Might look into that too.
There are a couple of other games that I may look into later. But for now, since I already have a lot of other Switch games (digital and physical) to get through still, these will be my top 3 new games for this month. Possibly more later. But for now, I'm looking forward to these 3.
@KingBowser86 I feel the same too with the changes, but at the same time I don't know if I'd accept another entry in the same style the series was built on. There's only so many times the simplistic and timeless gameplay can sustain its appeal before getting old.
That said, I am looking forward to Umihara Kawase Fresh!, especially after how "amazing" Yoshi's Crafted World ended up being. Ugh. I also hope the previous three Umihara Kawase games end up on the Switch as well.
For me blazing crome
Mua 3
Red faction
And young blood
Fire Emblem is already pre-ordered for me.
@Aslanmagic isn’t that a bit of a kick in the nuts. A coupon for a discontinued system and a system they are leaving behind currently. AND ON YOUR BIRTHDAY OF ALL DAYS! Lol
Fire Emblem and Wolfenstein for me... but the latter sadly NOT on the Switch (but PC, since for FPS nothing beats keyboard and mouse). And I really don't need to play FPS on the go.
Fire Emblem for me.
1. FF XII TZA (Switch)
2. Dragon Quest Builders 2 (Switch)
I will sell my FF XII TZA (PS4) since it lacked of Licence Board Reset (Only Switch & Xbox One version have that feature)
But last Monday i got my Override: Mech City Brawl (PS4) from Ebay. 😅
@Aslanmagic I agree! I feel like Nintendo just rummaged through the closet quickly to grab our "gifts".
@StephenYap3 I'm definitely in the minority (or perhaps old-fashioned) when it comes to my view on items and leveling things. BotW proved that those systems are successful and almost necessary to keep the current target market's attention. That said, I think the portion of the gaming market that would buy this at all are the same crowd that are difficulty-fiends, purists, and the like that have kept the series afloat thus far — a definite niche.
What, then, is the solution to making it appeal broadly? An anime? Multiplayer? Open world ala Spider-Man games? A different story and gameplay objectives? Goal-driven pacing like Mario/Sonic/Kirby/Mega Man? Possibly a combination of those things.
I'm curious to know when Fire Emblem Three Houses will be redeemable with the voucher.
Fire Emblem already looks like it will be GOTY
Pre-ordered Fire Emblem weeks ago lol. Was always a must buy for me. Loved the series since the GBA days!
I have to be honest, Zion is a good narrator and video creator, but he doesn't have the same charisma as Alex. Though to be fair, I might just be more used to Alex's style.
@scoobdoo it will never get GOTY because it's not Zelda and isn't either an FPS or done in a "hyper realism" style. It could be the best selling game of the year get perfect reviews across the board, have everyone online singing its praise for months and months and game awards shows will still probably not even nominate it because it's a tactical RPG with an anime style.
Fire Emblem and Ultimate Alliance for sure
@mist
We all have to make sacrifices I guess.
This is random, but Burnstar is 95% off in the U.S. eShop right now. Just $1 to try this 2 player game, and well, own it digitally.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 looks to be the only one of interest of the 3 games mentioned in the article.
Marvel and Wolfenstein for sure. Will get Fire Emblem at some point too, but not necessarily day 1.
@GrailUK was gonna ask if that word meant something different in the US, tbh I'm a bit disappointed it wasn't until comment number 37 that someone else mentioned it.
I miss the good ol' Wii U days where we had like one game per month to work on. My backlog cannot handle this!
@60frames-please that looks really neat. Thanks for the heads up! Wouldve passed over it otherwise. Grabbing that and Deployment for some cheap fun.
@StephenYap3 Oh yeah, I forgot about Umihara Kawase. I loved the demo and I'll be getting that one. I also am curious about powerful Pro baseball by Konami. When will is get translated? Is it playable with no knowledge of Japanese?
July is gonna be a busy month for me, as far as Nintendo Switch games go, as I plan on picking up...
Dragon Quest Builders 2
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3
Raiden V: Directors Cut
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
@vegeta11
Love the pic
I really don't know which one to get first. Decisions decisions 🤔
@Shiryu 😹😹🤣🤣🤣
Mario Maker 2. I am late, yes. And then only Ni No Kuni. Even though some of these look bloody delicious...
@GrailUK The video has been edited. The term doesn't have any negative connotations in the US, where Zion is from, but you're correct - it should never have gone live with that word in it.
My wallet is already crying, July is a totally packed month.
@GrailUK My deepest apologies! As Damien said, over here in the states the word isn't taken the same. I'll be much more conscious of the words I use going forward. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!
@Ziondood @Damo I assumed it would be some subtle difference in our languages. I wasn't out for blood lol, just an edit Apology accepted of course Zion and welcome to Nintendolife.
@GrailUK Thanks Grail!
The only new Switch game coming out in July that I'll be picking up is Raiden V: Director's Cut Limited Edition. I've already got a physical copy pre-ordered =)
