Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition has been treated to a brand new gameplay trailer and news of its official Switch release date. The game will arrive on Nintendo's system both digitally and physically on 1st October.
The game was first revealed for Switch back in March of this year alongside Sniper Elite V2 Remastered. We haven't heard a great deal about 3 Ultimate since then, but we've got an official description and a list of Switch-exclusive features for you to check out below:
Sniper Elite 3 takes you to the heart of World War 2 and the remarkable setting of North Africa in 1942. Stalk the infamous Afrika Korps across oases, canyons and sand-swept cities in a deadly rush to sabotage a Nazi super weapon. Use devastating traps and melee takedowns to take out your targets stealthily. Hone your sharpshooting by mastering gravity, wind and even your heart rate. Watch your bullets rip through organs, bones and even vehicles in the trademark X-Ray Kill Cam.
Exclusive New Features:
- LOCAL CO-OP AND MULTIPLAYER: In addition to online, Sniper Elite 3 Ultimate Edition supports local wireless multiplayer for the first time! Buddy up through the entire campaign in 2-player local co-op, and in the Overwatch and Survival modes. Or face off against your pals in local competitive multiplayer for up to 4 players!
- MOTION CONTROLS: Fine tune your aiming with gyroscope controls and feel bullet impacts from the HD rumble.
- PRO CONTROLLER SUPPORT
If you're already convinced on this one, digital pre-purchase is expected to go live on 17th September and you should find physical pre-order copies popping up across your favourite retailers from today.

This game looks great! I'll try to get it day one, but physical!
Hope they fixed the controls from Sniper Elite V2. I was a bit disassociated with V2
I will get it physical.
At this point I almost feel obligated to support what few single player games still exist.
Not really interested in playing 2 or 3 again. I might grab 4 if they were to port it to Switch, though that would be difficult.
@Mchi5 The controls are pretty different from V2's. For one, the camera is no longer locked behind your character. You can move it around freely.
Fantastic news looking forward to it
@Mchi5 what you mean? I thought it was great but I hadn’t played one of these before
Im really excited for this, despite how silly that is. Loved this on Xbox. Cant wait to play it again.
Played this on Xbox a couple of years ago. Fun game, I enjoyed it
Nice, I love this series. Honestly, I think it does Metal Gear Solid better than Metal Gear Solid these days. I mean I love MGS but it feels like that series really peaked a long time ago and now it is clearly over. Sniper Elite is the best thing for scratching that stealth action itch.
5 seconds into the trailer:
"Gameplay captured directly on Nintendo Switch"
Take note, developers. THIS is how it should be done, quit baiting Switch users with bullshots. I was already considering picking this one up, but that seals the deal for me.
Has this been ported to everything yet? I’m waiting to get it on GameCube...
Day one physical purchase for me
Definitely getting the Physical version. I already own, and beat, the Physical version of 2 on the Switch. I also beat it a few times on PC too. I played 3 on PC, but not for long. Was too busy with other things, and just haven't ever gone back to it. But, I'll get the Switch version and finally play it in it's entirety, to finally beat it.
I own Sniper Elite 4. When I failed at passing the first level, the experience was similar to James Rolfe playing Batman & Robin for the PS1. 😂
Should I give it another go?
V2 was fantastic, and this will be another Day One purchase ...now, where's that Zombie Army Trilogy announcement?
