@ChakraStomps I'm not referring to this particular stereotype, I'm just saying that isn't how stereotypes work in general. Stereotypes do not need to be based in anything.
Mother (3)0 Although if the first games localised name was earthbound beginnings, then wouldn't it make sense for the last (according to the creator, who isn't planning to make more games) game to be called earthbound endings?
@Arawn93 Why does everyone say the original loz is more like botw? It isn't. It has more in common than the other games, with items required for progression: You need the recorder to dry up a body of water revealing the seventh dungeon, you need the raft to cross rivers and lakes and you need the stepladder to progress in certain dungeons. By contrast, the only things you need to beat the game are the runes, which you get in the first 1/2 hour of playing.
@Sisilly_G it comes low because this is user ranked, and very few people have played it because it came out so recently, during a busy month for games.
@Big_Fudge The series originally started on handhelds, the series didn't get multiplayer until a port of the original on gamecube that removed the story mode.
I hope that they do it in the style of the lord of the rings or, to quote the dark crystal: Another world, another time. I just don't think it would be good in the Narnia/isekai syle.
Ironically, the only thing I'm not worried about are the non-hylians, the zora, gorons, lizalflos and so on. I feel that since nintendo is so strict about the way they want their ip to be, that that's pretty much the only safe thing. Also the guy who directed planet of the apes is working on this.
@LikelySatan They were prerendered 3d models that were turned into sprites. Each sprite was essentially a screenshot of the original 3d model. This was done because the snes could not run models in real time, except for the type you could see in star fox and stunt race fx. At the time, the only consoles that could run such things were the saturn and the playstation, which were both japanese exclusives back in 1994, when this released.
@Serpenterror In terms of what it could be, I think that it's somewhat likely that it could be the next persona. It's a internationally well-received franchise that is guaranteed to sell well even if it isn't good. It would be relatively easy to justify such a large budget.
I think that they should have either remade it in the style of the modern 3d marios, or in the style of the mario&luigi rpgs rather than the overly faithful visuals that make it look squished. It was charming when they were using the prerendered sprites and yes, @LikelySatan they were sprites and sprites =/= pixel art. This reminds me of psp and 3ds emulation when upscaling the graphics to a higher resolution making it look flat and ironically worse.
@Anguspuss 97.6 percent of switch owners care about. the switch has sold about 125 million units. 1-2 switch sold 3 million. 3 million is 2.4 percent of 125 million.
@Anguspuss kid icarus uprising was beloved and sold 1.28 million. that's not bad for a game that was 1. a reboot of a obscure nes and gameboy series. 2. required you to use the stylus to aim. it would sell better on switch
didn't Phil Spencer said that he doesn't think of Nintendo as competing in the same space as xbox/playstation before he tried to aquire activison blizzard
My hopes that will never happen: kid icarus uprising 2 Insomniacs spider man somehow ported to switch A new 3d zelda in the style of ocerina 3d and skyward sword
My hopes that probably won't happen kid icarus uprising remaster, with leftie friendly controls new mega zero style game (by capcom themselves) new 2d zelda
Things that probably will happen: announcement of demo for sonic superstars xenoblade x port mayyybee metroid prime 4

Re: Soapbox: "Go Outside, Get Some Fresh Air" - Why Won't Outmoded Gamer Stereotypes Die?
@Zuljaras it does't have to be simplified, it can just be made up, oterwise that definition is correct
Re: Soapbox: "Go Outside, Get Some Fresh Air" - Why Won't Outmoded Gamer Stereotypes Die?
people here are missing my point, i'm not saying that stereotypes never have any truth, i'm saying they don't require any truth

I still think putting the rabbids games here is stupid.

@HeadPirate The zx spectrum was british, not japanese, and it was most certainly not more popular there than britain.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 11th)
@Duck_Farmer It should be okay, all the games are standalone for the most part, with the only time the games crossover I think being one of the dlcs.
Re: Talking Point: So, Who Could Play Link, Zelda, Ganondorf In The Upcoming Zelda Movie?
@SwitchForce The games are based on medieval Europe, though.
Re: Talking Point: So, Who Could Play Link, Zelda, Ganondorf In The Upcoming Zelda Movie?
I don't know about the main ones, but I think Cillian murphy would make a good Happy Mask Salesman

Re: Talking Point: "This Is Only The Beginning" - What Should Konami Do With Metal Gear Next?
@Adol-Bannings
The sequels are not better than the prequels.
It's true the phantom menace was bad, but the others were mostly good.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Still Making Them, So What amiibo Do You Still Want To See?
I'd buy a prime ridley, or a gleeok.

it would sell better on switch

if it was bundled in it would both make the switch look like a joke
and more expensive.
