The Pokémon Company has revealed that another Pokémon-themed smartphone title is in development, and this time the long-suffering Magikarp is the main focus.
Splash! Magikarp (known in Japan as Haneru! Koiking) will be coming to iOS and Android devices this spring 2017, with Select Button handling development duties.
Details are thin on the ground, but the game's teaser site offers a brief synopsis. Magikarp-sized holes have begun appearing in an otherwise peaceful town, and a full-scale investigation is underway to discover the cause.
While it doesn't sound like it will have the epic scale of Pokémon GO, this could be an interesting way to pass the time when it launches. Let us know if you're interested in what you've seen so far.

Could be fun I like the look of it.
...What?
I can't believe Japan's got a Kamen Rider Atsume, but still no Pokémon version of Neko Atsume !
Just ditch Pikachu as the mascot and make magikarp the face of the company. You cant fight it ,TPC.
Attack of the Magikarps
If Detective Pikachu or Looker turn up, I'll be happy.
SelectButton? Well, while waiting for this game give their other one a try (no wonder I found the graphics familiar): Huntcook

So, I can see Pokemon going to phones in the future instead of the Switch. Just a hunch.
Wait, what ?!
Gotta fish 'em all !
@readyletsgo That's not happening
What a weird concept. It will probably end up being fun though.
Do you think it will be an idle/taping game?
TPC used Splash!
It had no effect!
It looks weird, I am excited!!!
FINALLY! A Pokémon game without Pikachu hogging the spotlight.
♫ Yowai Pokémon... Koikingu.
Cyatchu ando īto? Nansensu! ♫
Splash on, you magnificent piece of carp.
Now we need a bellydancing game starring Jynx, Oricorio, Spinda and all them mons who like to waggle their booties.
@onery Oh boy, that was something. Could we get a chance to fry magikarp in this one, please!
Wouldn't mind a pokemon fishing game
@readyletsgo
The sales of Sun & Moon don't agree with you.
@readyletsgo Nah, Pokémon is one of the few franchises that 100% reliably shifts whatever console it appears on, Nintendo would be stupid to go mobile with that...
Why not. Let's give all the Pokémon deemed "useless" or "weak" a time to shine. Personally I don't love pikachu and prefer that someone else get spotlight.
@Luna_110 @MysticX But what if the Pokemon company want to stay on handheld after 3ds, switch is hybrid, not handheld through and through. Smartphones are handhelds.
Just a thought is all.
@readyletsgo
Pokemon will go were the IP owner defines... And it isn't TPC, its Nintendo. They own the trademarks.
And I seriously doubt Nintendo will favor smartphones over their home consoles. Smartphones will keep receiving stuff like this, to keep interest in the brand alive.
@readyletsgo I know what you mean, and i don't know what Nintendo is planning, but i'm pretty sure that putting one of their biggest IPs on a competitor (Mobile is still a competitor to other forms of gaming) isn't part of their plan...
My favorite from the original title finally gets his chance to splash- I mean shine!
@Billsama ahahaha! that would be an interesting crossover
@Piersen Is that...from Gyo?
@Ernest_The_Crab According to Wikipedia, the short story it's from was included with Gyo, but is unrelated, so yes and no.
@Piersen Ah. I remember reading that story somewhere but couldn't remember from where.
Lol, reminds me of that Slowpoke fishing game. Wonder if we get such a weird song and video again (the Slowpoke song)!
