The demo didn't make me convinced this game is worth picking up at full price, mostly because of the performance. Granted, it was the demo, so hopefully the performance is better in the full game, but I've read different impressions about that. It is also strange that the reviews for this game are so late.

Regarding the GOTY award, I truly don't care. It doesn't make the game winning it any better or the games not winning it any worse. In the end, it is all about opinions, though some people seem to think their opinions are the only ones that are valid. Thus the GOTY award contributes to the increasing and unpleasant toxicity in the gaming community, with fanboys hurling insults at each other over which video game is the best and why other great titles therefore must suck. Sigh...

@WiltonRoots It's a very niche style of game, but this one has caught more mainstream attention, I believe. I haven't played it myself, but I really enjoyed the studio's previous game, Divinity Original Sin 2, which is on Switch, so I imagine that BG3 is equally as good. I've heard that the third act isn't as polished though and that there are a lot of bugs in the game. I also think that parts of its fanbase has gotten very toxic lately, saying no other game is as good at it, calling other games sh*t, etc. It's quite sad.

This doesn't surprise me the least.

I don't understand why people care so much about the Game Awards anyway... It's just a silly awards show, the awards themselves doesn't mean anything really, it's just the industry patting itself on the back as usual. The great games being nominated/awarded are not better because of it and the great games not being nominated/awarded are not lesser experiences.
Throw in hundreds of ads, celebrity cringe and a usually overblown hype for some game trailers that one can watch afterwards, and you have the Game Awards, led by a man that probably cares more about the sponsors of the show than video games.

@TheGameCube86 So what? It can still be celebrated for what it achieved and what it meant to people back then. People are still talking about it 25 years later, that must mean something.

@TheGameCube86 Ocarina of Time is still a great game that just turned 25. It's not about being stuck in the past: it's about celebrating a milestone in gaming history by talking about memorable things from the game. I don't know why you'd call that depressing?

@RetroGames The game already got an excellent and lovingly made remake on the 3DS. It is great and proper!

@Frailbay30 @Oracles_fanboi The many OoT articles right now has to do with the game, one of the most iconic and beloved of all time, recently turning 25. It's only logical that a Nintendo website would celebrate that.

I will not sit through 3 hours of cringe in hope of seeing some cool new game being announced.

I will not watch the show, but I'll probably check out the trailers that might interest me afterwards. Don't care for the Game Awards or the nominations. It just creates toxicity and fuels the fanboy wars.

One of my most anticipated games this year. I haven't had a chance to play the original, but from all I've seen and read about it, it seems like a game I will highly enjoy!

I've tried the demo during the weekend. Not sure if I will get the full game. It sure has that DQ charm, but not the polish from the main games. The performance is pretty bad for a game that is not very visually demanding (it looks kinda cheap in places). Now, gameplay is more important than graphics and it seems pretty fun in that department, but I'm not sure if the formula will hold up for a full game or if it will get repetitive after a while. So I'm undecided.

@Adol-Bannings It will get a physical release, but it will not be 120 fps, lol. It barely holds up at 30 or whatever it is.

@RobynAlecksys Why are they annoying? And if you're talking about the flowers, you can mute them in the settings. Easy.

They are harmless. As are the flowers. Don't understand why people get so annoyed over them.

@Krull Paras is kinda cute, but Parasect is just creepy.

Parasect is scary and creepy, being like a zombie controlled by the parasitic mushroom on its back.

@Frogspree All those 100 million Switch users are not in the UK though. It will be interesting to see the Japanese numbers, as well as the overall sales numbers for both titles, to see if they show something different.

And this is the UK: it's PlayStation land, though the Switch has done very well there.

It's a 10 for me. It feels like a game I will remember fondly 10 or 20 years from now.

Got it one day early, I'm at world 2 now. It is WONDERFUL!

@locky-mavo The closest they've got since the glory days of the early 90's is Sonic Mania.

I don't care for multiplayer in platform games, so it sounds like a game I could enjoy.

I will get both, if Sonic also ends up being good (which it thankfully looks to be based on previews). But I believe Wonder will be the better game of the two, as I prefer the Mario formula, even though I grew up with the early Mega Drive games. It also looks more creative than the Sonic game.

Here's hoping the new Dragon Quest Monsters will be good!

@blindsquarel The games will still be there, so flip a coin, buy one of them and wait some time before getting the other one. I've heard that Spider-Man 2 is around 30 hours long. I guess Wonder is something along those lines as well.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe and 4 are 10/10 games for me and I've never played the first two games, so of course I had to get them. It's awesome having all four games on the same platform.

I've defended you before, but I'm getting tired of these comments you make. It's like a fixation you have. Please stop.

I haven't played FFXVI yet (not sure if I will like it), but I will get this DLC as FF music is at minimum good and mostly great. Theatrhythm Final Bar Line is in my top 5 of the best games from 2023 so far, it's really a fun time!

I'm waiting for the physical copy, but glad to hear it is a great game! The demo was fire!

@Duncanballs I think it has already beaten it in Japan and perhaps USA, but not worldwide.

I think it stands between Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur's Gate III and Starfield (if it turns out great).

Not that it really matters. It has been a great year for gamers.

My personal GotY?
At first I thought it would be TotK, but now I'm leaning more at Pikmin 4.

@geo-shifter I think Harvestella is more focused on the combat than the farming, compared to Rune Factory.

We'll see if it keeps the top spot once more reviews comes in. But it seems like a truly great game that I hope we'll get on the Switch successor one day.

The studio's previous game, Divinity Original Sin 2, is a masterpiece that is available on Switch. I recommend it to anyone that is into RPG's. It is great!

@Poodlestargenerica That's how life is sometimes. I feel the same way about the new Final Fantasy. But there are so much else to play.

@WiltonRoots Well, since I got hold on a physical copy of the Pixel Remasters, I decided I had to play through them all chronologically. 😁 I'm on V now, soon finished with that one. Saving the best one, VI, for last.

@WiltonRoots When they announced the game, they said it would be darker. And now there's talk about how to aim it at an adult audience. That makes me worried they will pander to a western audience by changing the artstyle, the music, the colourful world and characters in exchange for drama, blood and curse words, i.e. "realism".

I have all the DQ games (except X) on different Nintendo systems, love the series as much as Final Fantasy (or at least FF from I to XII).

The demo is maybe a bit too handholdy, but other than that, I love it!

@invictus4000 I would say X and XII are good too. But after that? Not sure...

@WiltonRoots Yeah, or more like an action game than a JRPG. With a heavy Game of Thrones influence story wise (not my cup of tea), a more serious and darker tone overall (it feels like the whimsical and humorous fairytale tone of older FF's is missing), no playable party members (you're just... Clive), etc. It feels like a Western take on Final Fantasy, i.e. not Final Fantasy at all IMO. You can put Cid and some Chocobos in it, but the magic of Final Fantasy doesn't seem to be there, at least from what I've seen. But I haven't played the game myself, so can't say for sure that's the case.

This new FF doesn't look like a game for me. I love all the FF's from I to XII, but this one doesn't interest me one bit. I'm happy for all the people loving it though.

One of my most anticipated games this year. I've only played Pikmin 3 and that one was a solid 10/10 for me, so I have high hopes for this fourth entry. Will also pick up the physical double pack of 1 and 2 when it launches. It's nice to have all the Pikmin games on one system.
