Re: Backlog Club: July - If You Haven't Played Hollow Knight Yet, Here's Your Chance

I really REALLY like this game. Beat it, but thinking of playing through again constantly. Beat the first third three times over until that third time I got the controls down. Learn to move around during combat. Swing and run, swing and run. This game gave me better skills in general that commute to things like Smash Bros and Metroid, but even helped me learn what it means to want to beat a boss.

Re: Soapbox: The Modern Games Industry Has A Hype Problem, And It Needs To Stop

PoorGeno

@Muddy_4_Ever I wasn't hyped. I bought it on the virtue of the series and was disappointed by the level design, the music, and the lack of a core feature shown in an early trailer. I never played Wolly World, but its not hard to imagine from friends' reactions that it was a superior title. Now, with Kingdom Hearts 3 I was super-hyped, and have never been so disappointed. Except by Last Jedi. The trailer for that movie was a million dollar empty promise.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2021 Nintendo Direct, Then?

PoorGeno

I was disappointed by possibilities. There are plenty of Nintendo IPs gathering dust which still have meat on their bones. Even some of their IPs have sub-IPs. Nintendo could be hiring devs like Playtonic, EldenPixels, Tarsier, Pixeljunk, Team Cherry, House House etc that proved they can build a campfire, but instead of stoking the industry coals, we get no-personality Mario (one of Nintendo's most exciting IPs) Golf (a game so boring that the point of the game is to have played less of it). If you've heard of these studios already, you know how many people haven't, and you do know how many people would buy a 1st Party IP game, and would buy more fresh IP studio titles (BigN's 3rd party support) the next time around. I was all for the re-releases at first, but now I'm jaded as a gamer who bought these games before, sometimes twice. This direct didn't offer me much Nintendo, just a lot of Nontendo.

Re: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Leaked Online A Week Before Launch

PoorGeno

@Broforce You're wrong. I worked a public school gig for a few years. Special needs kids. You know who loves video games? Special needs kids. Know how you get them to shut up and work? Ipad time. Teachers made that happen. Out ranked my. Special Ed kids do nothing but youtube. So, I get stuck in a room with a kid watching Luigis Mansion 3 before I even beat the game, the week I bought it, the week it came out. These leakers just want clicks, and they'll steal from anyone to get what they want. They're thieves, you know.

Re: Random: People Are Making Really Awful Fart Remixes Of Mario Music On TikTok

PoorGeno

@ivory_soul China likes butt stuff. Their covid tests. Their cinemas reject much from the west, but never those kids movies with poops and farts. They import trash. They made poop into food for export. Or boy eggs. Their leader is called pooh bear. Poo bear? And he's great, the concentration camps. Great guy. And TIKTOK is chinese, leaks people's info to the chinese. So, no, I'm not being random. China likes poops, pee, and farts apparently. Also, a lot of new diseases come "ffffsshwwwt" straight outa China.

Re: Indie Studio NOWWA Accuses Apex Legends Of "Ripping Off" One Of Its Characters

PoorGeno

Never heard of RESPAWN or NOWWA. Never played these games. I've heard of APEX.
...I mean, you wouldn't need them both in Smash Bros, would you--unless they were echo fighters?
This is like Cobb performed Inception by putting an illustration of "hunter" from RESPAWN into a mind-vault of the designers at NOWWA.
Reminds me of what Disney and Dreamworks taught us about corporate espionage. Or how Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera is just the riff from Pink Floyd's Echoes in a fancier package.
Occam's razor says this was a ripoff. APEX has a great character illustration team apparently, but yeah, this looks like a ripoff.
