LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga arrived on the Nintendo Switch yesterday and it seems there's a neat little Xenoblade Chronicles Easter Egg in the game.
In this new LEGO Star Wars game, the voice of Shulk Adam Howden voices an NPC called "Disco Director". When engaging in a conversation with him, his character says "Now this is a party! I'm really feeling it". As Nintendo fans will know, this is a throwback to Adam's character Shulk in the Xenoblade series. You might have heard him say something similar in Smash Bros. as well.
According to a story over on the Xenoblade Chronicles subreddit, a former TT Games developer was able to add it in:
I worked on LSWTSS. When I heard that Adam Howden would be providing his voice to the game, I tried to work in a Xenoblade reference somewhere.
I managed to get this one in on the last puzzle I worked on.
I wasn't in the booth when he was recording, but I had an email from the script editor at the time. He said that Adam was initially unsure about the line, but after being told that it was a Xenoblade reference, he nailed it. He was happy to hear that it was indeed a Xenoblade reference.

This makes it a must buy for me!
The legacy of Shulk lives on.
Neat little reference; glad it was able to get through. I also like it because it's easy to ignore for those who don't get it but super meaningful for those who do, not the focal point of some giant joke like most references nowadays. Good stuff.
Oh, so that's actually a XC reference? Cool, I figured people were just assuming it.
@IronMan30
It is. That's Shulk's actual voice actor who was given that exact line for that exact reason. https://www.reddit.com/r/Xenoblade_Chronicles/comments/tws4fs/comment/i3h3fwa/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
Xenoblade was completely unknown outside of Japan in 2010 but is so popular now that it has multiple sequels and is being referenced by official Star Wars media in 2022. Let that sink in.
It's odd that Adam needed to be explained that this quote is a reference to Xenoblade. From my understanding Shulk is his most famous role and I'm going to just assume that he will have a presence in XC3.
Just a friendly reminder, by the way, that XC3 is due this year.
This game has crashed twice for me today. The Episode 1 level.
@Varkster
I think it was a "WTF?" sort of thing from his perspective since he probably had no clue why the character would say this. In the original Xenoblade, Shulk actually says, "Alright I'm feeling it."
"I'm really feeling it!" is a line he specifically gave for Smash so he probably didn't get it right away since Shulk was added to Smash 4 about 8 years ago now and those lines were reused for Ultimate.
Regardless, it's super cool that he played along and gave us that reference. Xenoblade sure has come a long way from being unknown outside of Japan.
@JR150 He does actually say "I'm really feeling it" as well just not as enthusiastic as he does in smash4 lol; so he has 2 feeling it lines
If I didn’t need another reason.
@Varkster I don't know who Adam is, so I didn't understand why everyone was saying this was a Xenoblade reference.
Do Lego games really need voice acting?
@kopaka You not really feeling it?
@kopaka Why not? They have the budget for it.
@Arawn93 @FatWormBlowsASparky I dunno, I kinda don't find them as funny and charming as when they were voiceless.
@kopaka If I remember right the Nintendo Life review said you could have the voice acting replaced with the classic mumbling from older Lego games
@DrJoson that is a really nice feature
What a bunch of jokas!
Love this but I kind of wish I didn’t see the article - that accent and that line would have stood out to me. I’m pretty sure I would have been feeling that reference! 😁
I mean hey, they made an American Psycho reference in LEGO DC Super Villains so anything is possible.
Always nice to see a reference to my favorite game ever!
@TheStardustWarrior So I just found out David Menkin, the guy who voices Malos is also the voice actor for Luke Skywalker in the new Lego Star Wars game!
