Re: Square Enix Silent On Switch Dragon Quest XI Due To "Adult Circumstances"

Plucky

think they're being tight-lipped about it because there might be a PC release? Sonic Mania had its PC release date leaked by Steam, and NIS didn't even wait less than a day from Disgaea 5's release before announcing its PC release. i just assume its more of a "we don't want to backstab Nintendo" thing because Japan is DQ's largest fanbase.

Eventhough with the whole Dragon Quest VII/VIII 3DS western releases, and also announcing Dragon Quest Heroes 1+2 and (a port of) Dragon Quest XI (for the 3DS) they're probably just worried about muddying things with stuff like framerate or graphical drops. Japan might be more tolerant about differences, but this is Dragon Quest, it's a pretty hot button thing.

Just changing the battle system caused mass amazonbombs for IX, before changing back to having overworld monsters, but battles being the same with you actually seeing the characters jumping and doing hits. instead of being (potentially) a strategized/real time Dragon Quest game.

Re: Poll: Who Is Your Favourite ARMS Fighter?

Plucky

I'd probably say Min Min or Helix, sometimes you have to side with the Clown. out of the new characters from the direct, Twintelle just stands out, i mean it could be the bandwagon effect but i kinda like the character for reasons other than the Thiccness.

Peppered french, casually sipping tea and just being classy when moving about just gives powerful vibes. i mean you have actionized characters like Spring Man/Ribbon Girl, to fighters like Min Min/Ninjara, or even the usual fighting game archetypes; Master Mummy (The Brute), Helix (The Clown) or Byte & Barq (Environmental obstacle. Litchi Faye-Ling or Rosalina, for examples).

Kid Cobra seemed kinda...there. maybe he's just a tad overlooked because he doesn't really have the "face". like B&B has that obvious appeal in his passive, but Twintelle has non-arm ARMs. between him, B&B and Twintelle, it's more like a 20/30/50% popularity thing.

Re: Wonder What Zelda: Breath Of The Wild's New amiibo Do? Wonder No Longer

Plucky

Why do i get the feeling that they're keeping some Amiibo underwraps. Nintendo skipped some letters on the CPSIA page when it went from Zelda to Bokoblin. logically I/O are omitted from Amiibo codes because of being mistaken for 1/0, J however is OK. (Gold Mega Man uses J, but is catergorized as being part of the Smash series. but internally is the same as a regular Mega Man)

The Zelda Anniversery/BOTW series is CAKAX, with the X being filled in with a letter. AA = Wolf Link. AB = OoT Link. AF = 8-Bit Link, AG = Toon Link. AJ = WW Zelda, AK = Archer, AL = Rider, AM = Guardian. AN = BOTW Zelda. but then it skips to AU with Bokoblin. this leaves C/D, as well as H and P, Q, R, S and T.

I just wonder if the Anniversery series was originally supposed to be much bigger or if maybe Wind Waker and Majora's Mask was originally going to have Amiibo but skipped them for convenience sake for later. a theoretical C and D Zelda series amiibo for Skull Kid and Toon Link would have made sense.

Re: Talking Point: The State of Play - amiibo and Its Next Big Move

Plucky

There's 2 Smash Amiibo CPSIA numbers that alludes to single packs. Corrin has an unused skin in Poochy & Yoshi's Wooly World. it's probably safe that we have at least 3 to 5 Amiibo, 2 of which being a US-exclusive Dual pack for Echoes. they're probably going to reveal Corrin and Bayonetta's Amiibo in a few months.

I'd say Cloud, but even Square Enix was quiet about Dragon Quest XI for the most part, they would have to announce something like FF7 remake or even new material to justify making a hubbub about him let alone use his Amiibo. they're just keeping quiet about Amiibo, presumably so that they don't alienate the audience who might not go for Nintendo consoles, they just show it only for Zelda directly because they already mentioned a line of Amiibo+Wolf Link that would be compatible with it.

By the time E3 comes around, they'll probably announce Smash 5 or something. or Platinum games either showing off a Bayonetta 3/Jeanne spinoff, or something unexpected that use her Amiibo. an ultimately unexpected thing would be if they worked with Capcom by letting them make games with their Clova-era IPs.

Maybe they might also use E3 to promote story details of Splatoon 2 or list new-age amiibo usage. would it be extreme to suggest Callie/Marie reprints or even an Octoling/Octo-sisters amiibo? the Octosisters could be Babymetal inspired. Yacht Club Games will probably need more grease to squeak the wheels since Shovel Knight's amiibo lost the 2 player exclusively. (but not the customizable shovel knight) maybe a Mii skin in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or used in one of the Steamworld games.

Re: Reminder: Nintendo Wants You to Vote for Your Fire Emblem Heroes

Plucky

I'm surprised Roy is so high, i thought the Japanese fanbase hated him. though Lyn being at the top in terms of Heroines is interesting, i would've thought some of the new-age characters like Tharja would have been one of those topslotters.

I could honestly see Marth being higher if it wasn't split between 2 or so games. Anna seems like she should be a MyNintendo freebie, just to encourage linking. like how Toad is obtained in Mario Run, that and she's appeared in 5 or so games. (assuming they're not the same one) makes a bit of sense as a mascot, but also for the Red color/coins/merchant aesthetic.

Re: Rumour: A New CPSIA Listing Implies More Smash Bros. amiibo Are Coming

Plucky

I was thinking that one of the CPSIAs were for the Fire Emblem double pack...how are people assuming Smash? the 2nd CSPIA is probably Corrin. they'll probably release him sometime before Echoes. the game does come out a month in Japan before anywhere else, by the time the US release comes out, E3 would be in less than a month.

Or it's the Bokoblin and Zelda (BOTW) amiibo? i just wonder what is tipping people off that it's Smash related. Echoes amiibo makes a bit of sense since Fire Emblem needs to ride on the mobile game's coattails, a month's difference could be for both localization or just logistics in making amiibo for the demand. similar to Kirby: Planet Robobot.

I'm thinking if Smash does have a switch version the new characters would probably be Isabelle/Digby (Lottie appears in Isabelle's place when her Assist trophy is procced), Wolf, Ice Climbers, Jibanyan, Inklings, maybe one of the Rays? (assuming the Custom Robo rumor is real) the Ray would be an original, whereas one of the DLC would be a spinoff of a Dark Ray palette, based around the new CR game's look (a prototype Ray Mk 4, 4 for Death). kinda like how Dark Pit started off as a palette swap in Brawl, then became a character in 4.

Kind of partial to either Porky Minch, Eggman or K. Rool as villainous characters. if they're making a large change like removing customizable moves and the decriminalization of online Miis (simplify to just Mii fighter type, skin color, gender and height as unaffected), just hand some of their movesets to new characters. Viridi could probably fit in with some of Palutena's alts. think there was even some dummied out Alt moves for Mario that either froze or were mostly incomplete.

Re: Nintendo Switch Has 32GB Internal Memory, Expandable With Micro SD Cards

Plucky

@Kazan2112 you could use larger cards, i just mean that mechanically, Nintendo only enabled the 3DS to have a maximum amount of 32GB. to use a higher capacity card would mean partitioning as well as formatting it in something like FAT32 to use. (EDIT: it doesn't mean that you get to use both parts of the 32GB partitions. it might even potentially cause corruption, if that's only a warning)

Maybe it has something to do with the existing firmware, or how the filesystem works. but if it's anything like the Wii U, you'll need to have larger cards to store games. like Pokemon Sun/Moon are 3.2+ GB alone, it could be potentially easy if someone is going for more niche, but spacier games like the Bravely, Monster Hunter or even any game by Atlus.

Might just be easier to fill up if you're a digital purchaser.

Re: Nintendo Switch Has 32GB Internal Memory, Expandable With Micro SD Cards

Plucky

No offense, im glad that they're allowing more than 32gb cards (really Ninty, the 3DS needs more space...) but they need to perhaps have optional space. like 32GB for the system and stuff you want to take in offscreen mode, with the card holding auxilliary data that you might want to use on the go.

Even i wonder how much batterylife we're getting out of constant card reads, let alone how many the card can endure before it fails. logically External drives might suffer from the same problem as well as being externally powered...

Guess it's either portability, or stabability/storage. it would be nice to have the choice however. kind of hoping that the dock has a dedicated slot that can house the cable+connects to the Switch.

Re: Rumour: New Version of Pokémon Sun And Moon, Pokémon Stars, Is Coming to the Nintendo Switch

Plucky

The Spoiler: it turns out that it's actually for a 3rd PokePark game, just that Stars implies that it's a spinoff of the Mario Party series. Game Freak and Nintendo will probably co-develop the game with who ever programed the later Mario Party games.

They'll probably attach a new-series Pokemon Amiibo with all the Smash ones getting reposes/reprints, with other cards being scan-in. remember when Mario Party: Star Rush was in development it reused the codename "Stars" but called it "N-Stars" after that whole spring-autumn 2015 leak.

If the new Amiibo has more selling power than Animal Crossing's amiibo series, i could suddenly see a new Smash character be seen as the Mario of Pokemon Amiibo due to being over-represented, assuming there is either a new Smash game or a port of 4 on the Switch. could you imagine seeing 2 versions of Incineroar on the shelf at the same time?

Re: CoroCoro Reveals Rockruff's Evolution & New Ultra Beasts for Pokémon Sun and Moon

Plucky

i wonder if they're going to call it something like Rockwulf. just because Lugaru (french for Werewolf) and Gan (Japanese for Rock.) makes its japanese name. though in context, the Gan portion would be more like Stone, as if something formidable. rather than physical stones you find within the earth itself. (excavated rocks, Ganseki?).

Mostly since Iwanko (Rockruff's jp name) already brings to mind Rocks/small pebbles. it just logically grows to larger units.

Re: Feature: What We Expect From the 3DS Nintendo Direct - 1st September

Plucky

Nintendo France's Twitter teased something about the Alola starters evolutions saying something like "Wonder what Rowlet's, Litten's and Popplio's starters looks like ". if the timing of the directs is simulcasted, chances are there's just going to be some divergences in what gets aired.

So since DQ 7/8 already been released in Japan, they'll probably show off some Monster Hunter Stories stuff with the Amiibo whilst the US/EU stream talks about Nindies. Runbow Pocket in US and Federation Force in EU. then maybe do a small recap of Pokemon like Golden Bottle Caps, a bit of context for the Pyukumuku beach sidequest (+English dialogue) before finally showing the Starter's evolutions.

Corocoro will probably reveal more information about the evolutions like their height/weight/abilitys alongside Rockruff's (evolution's?) poster.

Re: Italian Bishop Likens Pokémon GO To Nazism, Claims It Turns Players Into "Walking Dead"

Plucky

Meh, it's just a turn of the times. people in the 70's were probably more outdoorsish, but now with the internet and bogeymen like kidnappers, not much people actually goes out. Pokemon Go has probably stimulated the economy from things like food, powerbanks and actual pokemon games to other tangibly related things like upgrading to new phones or engaging in social media.

I mean if Pokemon Go pushed people to mobiles, they may as well hold all their social media in one place or laugh at cat videos.

Re: YouGov Estimates That Over a Million UK Players of Pokémon GO Have Bought In-App Purchases

Plucky

For as slow as the questionnaires are, i downloaded Google Opinion Rewards a week after getting Go. they just sporadically ask questions and you might get pence/cents. at first they just ask questions to catch you out either as a bot/someone who doesn't pay attention or answer truthfully. on the 3rd question i actually got 50p from it. (they basically asked "Are you a parent of a child", that's some Futurama bait right there)

It's synergistic if you go around places a lot, let the pence pile up for random stuff like pokeballs. have to say this though, i had an Xperia Play for years and Go was the thing that made me upgrade. basically dipped my toes into mobile gaming. only FFRK/Pokemon Go for me.

I'm personally curious how much community crossing that Pokemon Go has encouraged, like how many people downloaded related apps or upgraded their phones. we only seen the increase of sales of Pokemon-related products, but we never heard of anything of other things besides food businesses booming. makes you wonder how much the economy moved about.

Re: Feature: What We Know, and Think We Know, From the Pokémon Sun & Moon Reveal Trailers

Plucky

Personally my theory is that the reason that there's visible Trainers seen alongside battles is so that the players can immerse themselves as the trainer when they inevitably invoke Astral (Projection) Evolution. the trainers themselves would enter an entranced state. would at least be a bit more realistic compared to Mega Evolutions since the Key Stones alone are rare and there's plenty of underutilized Pokemon that could use a sudden Power Mode as a comeback mechanic.

If Astral Evolution isn't limited to fully-evolved Pokemon that is. otherwise i could see Astral Nidoqueen/King, Rhydon, Persian or Scyther. i couldn't imagine that Gamefreak would have much problems producing nearly-new Pokemon models as temporary modes for existing Pokemon or for new ones. Ash!Greninja doesn't look that drastic in appearance that would justify extensive modelling work.

The info itself is probably showing Magearna in the game doing a move, to promote it later on, maybe transferring Volcanion to Sun/Moon via bank or similar to the Crown Beasts transfer to get Zoroark. so you can unlock Magearna in the game. or at least naming the legends. (Solgaleo/Lunaala)

Re: New Sun & Moon Pokémon Leaked, Disney Infinity Shuts Down, and More

Plucky

A true leak would be that on the official Japanese site for Sun/Moon, URL manipulation reveals that not only the 3 starter's types (plus flying) is represented, but so are Fighting and Ground. replacing the 1 with any number from 1-6 results in a type. 1 = Grass, 2 = Flying, 4 = Fire, 5=Water. numbers 3 and 6 are Ground and Fighting. this might imply that Litten might evolve into a Ground/Fire type and Popplio might become a Fighting/Water type.

http://www.pokemon.co.jp/ex/sun_moon/pokemon/images/icon01.png

Or maybe they're Solgaleo/Lunaala's basic types. or maybe they're the strange Dog's? Ground/Fire would make sense for Litten if they're going for an explosive/Fireworks angle Nyabby > Hanyabby (Hanabi/fireworks + Nya) > Dainyabby (Dai = large, similar to fire. alternately could be read as Dynabby combining Dynamite and Tabby) Litten > Sulpurr > Clowderkeg if it's going with excavation-themed.

Popplio becoming part Fighting would just be a sign that it just bulked up, becoming an even more acrobatic clown. personally going with the names Aquabat (Acrobat+Aqua) and Poppierrot (Popplio+Pierrot, a Clown archetype)

Re: Rumour: Voice Acting Audition Hints At Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Sequel

Plucky

A new RPG? Ughh, i was expecting that it'd be like the Street Fighter x Tekken/Tekken x Street Fighter thing. like this time, the Fire Emblem elements would be more defined, as an actual turn-based strategy game. seems weird considering that SMT x FE seems more Personalike, FE already has relationship values as part of compatibility values.

Definitely would be cool if it started off with a Demi-Fiend as a self insert and you challenge other demon lords to get them to your side, or add SMT series stuff into the game like Moon Cycles and Alignment. which would basically be an ingame story-split similar to Fates.

I really think that Atlus knew that the game took too long to reveal, so they just cut their losses and threw it under a bus by calling it something else, leaving only the #FE part of the logo as something barely recognizable. it's a little bad that 2 FE games has already came and passed by the time that the English release comes out.

Re: Poll: Which Is The Best Mario Spin-Off Series or Game?

Plucky

I went with Kart and Paper Mario/Mario & Luigi. Puzzles & Dragon would've been there, but the Mario portion felt so recycled with enemy assets and sound effects, even if it feels more "new" compared to PAD:Z by having stuff like dual-element monsters, it just goes for the thin-plot puzzle story whereas Z has that saturday morning Anime feeling with wide characters. that and the monsters themselves are much more personal.

So it's not like you're going to have Koopas/Paratroopas or mixes of some enemies as "one unit" but you'll have somewhat similar counterparts of some dragons that's be more akin to Pokemon (like maybe there's 3 stage dragons that comes in fire, grass, water, dark and light. but comes in Dragon, Humanoid, Stegosaurus, ect), whilst also including "inhuman" Humanoids and monsters that are clearly Humanlike (technically Dragonoid) along with the obviously-overpowered legendaries; but those jiggling 2D designs are pretty nice, sad to see that all of that has gone once PAD:X comes out and forces generic knights per element and monsters being shown in 3D...

I'd also give a notable mention to Luigi's Mansion, since despite being a game that shows off the gamecube's features, it did quite alright at a genre that Mario couldn't have been done (Survival horror, essentially) with Luigi being in a canonical main role for the first time. even gave him personality and characterization other than his fluttering/higher jump+less traction that's shown in some other spinoffs.

Re: Poll: Did the Wii U and 3DS Nintendo Direct Kickstart 2016?

Plucky

It was an alright direct, most of the stuff was already known, personally my highlights would be Star Fox Zero/Guard, Monster Hunter Generations (well Japan tends to have a redux of a game that's released later which is used for sidestate. so that was surprising), Kirby+Amiibo and Rhythm Heaven. I'm in the UK so Yo-Kai Watch didn't really stand out and that RH/Dragon Quest never even mentioned what season they're being released compared to the US. though Medli being DLC in HW:L was unexpected, needs more OoT characters like Twinrova or Nabooru.

Fire Emblem is an inevitability though, it can't be that far off. and SMTxFE being renamed seemed like something that would have happened anyway since they did so in japan to reduce SMT's visual involvement. wonder if they knew that fans of either series would have condemned the game instead of just taking on geists of (barely-identifiable) Fire Emblem characters that doesn't even look like their namesakes.

JP is having half price SNES games if their NNIDs are connected to a Nintendo account whilst here in Europe it seems like you get 1 game half off if you buy the other one for a limited time, seems weird for them not to utilize a system-wide system. half-price Earthbound sounds nice but i don't want to get Mario World twice. SMW, all DKC games and Mario Kart seems like games that people would go to first. Earthbound is a weird choice but an RPG is actually perfectly suited for a handheld compared to racing games where your fingers would likely hurt.

Re: The Japanese Release of Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 Will Have the e-Reader Levels

Plucky

Europe is going to get the worst version twice in a row. unless they offer the US version as an import. i wouldn't imagine Mario Advance 4 to be that text heavy, probably be criminal to lose those levels for 3 or so other languages. Now the important thing to wonder is if Nintendo is releasing all of them in their current form or are they going to unearth unreleased stages and convert them into an american state.

Aware that the European version of Mario Advance 4 just locked E-reader out, but could be enabled with a corrupted save, but you have to question how much different bytes there are between the US and EU versions of the game alone. own an E-Reader in real life and those US R/S Pokemon cards scanned in perfectly for the EU version of Ruby and Sapphire.

Now only if Nintendo enabled Link Cable support and maybe GBA(like) support for GB/GBC games so that people can get stuff like the secret shop rings in Oracle of Seasons/Ages or that secret Tinkerbat form in Shantae.

Re: Nintendo's Next European Splatfest is the Most Random Yet

Plucky

They probably wanted to find a way to reuse american Splatfest art, what better way to do that than just flip the pizza over and put pineapples on it? chances are it's some sort of UK/Ofcom thing just to avoid advertising unhealthy eating to children. EU is always like that, from Zombies to stuff like Slot Machines.

That way it's less like "Which food do you like, kids; Pizza or Hamburgers?" to "Hey kids, if you like Pizza. would you have it with or without pineapple?" that way it shifts the question from forcing either one, to just assuming all people eat pizza but has choices of toppings.

Re: The 3DS Is Getting A New Puzzle & Dragons Game

Plucky

When i originally bought PAD: SMB edition, i was more for PADZ. seriously, it's kind of thin to have reused NSMB Mario assets in a game with a steep difficulty curve, even if you're given support/captain characters out the wazoo. personally like the Saturday morning anime script vibe PADZ has, kind of juvenile in a way but who can argue that some guy's extensional crisis about peanut butter isn't a marginally more of a new experience than the Mario portion of the game?

Refuse to use Boo Bros though since apparently that makes the Mario portion too easy. remove the difficulty and suddenly you're just left with the Mario IP. never seen any 2-type monsters in the PAD part unless Mario is based on later mechanics?

This is just where the differences between merchandising shine: Mario can easily adapt to different genres. but when it's compared to what's essentially the same product, Mario just doesn't look as good. PAD has characters, scripting and unique families of monsters to like. even the Mario RPGs usually has dialogue given by NPCs and usually takes place in much more radical locations than just a vanilla mushroom kingdom.

Re: Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 Will Contain Over 500 Beasts For You To Befriend

Plucky

I don't know, usually with DQM titles besides the first original 2, there was little reference to the main series. so this would give SE the chance to localize bosses as is whilst avoiding mentioning anything from the main series. like the first GB Monsters game had you as a younger version of DQVI's Terry that's the only major link. (you know, barring Caravan Heart taking place sometime before 7 but the world being 2's)

But with Joker, there's an entire new world with next to no continuity lockout or crossover besides a few things like the Schleiman Tank from Rocket Slime. in modern times chances are DQM Joker has more prominence than just Monsters. wonder if the monstercount is counting everything that was carried from Joker 2 Pro to Monsters Wonderland.

Re: Reminder: There's Only One More Week Left To Vote In The Super Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot

Plucky

I voted for 9-Volt, purely because he can reference the outside world of the Nintendo mythos with his various augmented toys of Nintendo's like the Ultra Hand, Ultra Machines and Thousand Barrels. whilst referring to the Nintendo consoles themselves with the Zapper and Power Glove. think it would be interesting to have near-entirely new material than reuse characters who are likely getting in anyway as DLC (Wolf) or characters who already has models to speak of (Squirtle, Ivysaur?) or which ever Assist Trophies missed the cut between Brawl and 4. (Like Isaac)

Re: Weirdness: The Bizarre Truth of Bowser Jr.'s Mother, According to Shigeru Miyamoto

Plucky

I just take it that he's saying that Bowser Jr is Bowser's son, but in a sense, Miyamoto created Bowser Jr, so he's kind of a mother. either that or all children in the SMB universe are inexplicably delivered as storks, at least as far as Humans, Apes and Koopas are. Yoshi's are mentioned to reproduce asexually (JP Melee) from eggs so the Stork issue doesn't apply to them.

Re: Pokémon Brawler Pokkén Tournament Coming To Wii U Early Next Year

Plucky

@Zombo i just mean that eventually Greninja had a promo in japan where registering smash netted them a code for an event greninja with a moveset similar to the one in Smash. Greninja almost seems to be bolstered up as a secondary mascot, similar to Blaziken.

It's almost a given that at least Greninja would get in over Hawlucha, just because Pikachu Libre filled his niche.

Re: Pokémon Brawler Pokkén Tournament Coming To Wii U Early Next Year

Plucky

Probably would've preferred Hawlucha over Pikachu Libre. really, they're just pandering towards attracting younger players to the game by utilizing a cosplay Pikachu despite the game being more realistic with impact damage, in a sense it's kind of similar to the Lucky Chloe situation.

Almost seems like a given that they're going to save Greninja as something more to reveal closer to release day. already used Smash in Japan as a cross promo to obtaining a Greninja in X/Y.

Re: 3DS Homebrew Hacker Turns to YouTube App As Latest Workaround for 'Tubehax'

Plucky

The whole issue about regional releases wouldn't matter that much if there was more developers releasing games digitally. like SMT IV and Rune Factory 4 didn't seem that it'd have that high of a chance of going outside of the US, but eventually they were added as Digital-only titles for EU. just imagine if larger companies such as Square-Enix did this, where they have quite a few games that they literally left untranslated for a few years now; mostly 2 or so Dragon Quest monster games and Rocket Slime 3. but they'd rather go to the iOS crowd for releases just to make a quick buck whilst kicking away android users.

Provided that the prices are fair to justify being Digital of course, a main thing about a digital market is that it allows people to get games out there fast whilst removing most of the physical costs involved in producing cartridges, but this mostly boils down for Indy developers.

As for the Youtube app itself, kind of a shame that chances are Google is going to be indifferent about releasing an update at all, they'll probably update the backend of the servers to state that the app is no longer supported then just outright delete it. or Nintendo will forcibly remove the app with an update. not the idea of YT being removed is bad, but that they've released low resource-intensive apps for the Wii, 3DS and Vita; the Vita's of which is one of the most perfect handheld players I've seen.

Then they discontinued support, just because people could bypass ads on it, where even conventional ad blockers on PC doesn't affect videos themselves.

Re: Take a Look at the New 'Green Blob' Pokémon

Plucky

I wonder if that Pokemon was designed by James Turner. it's kind of got those eyes similar to Phantump and Vanillite. would be pretty massive if it was actually important, i can't imagine Zygarde having a forme purely for the sake of being a movie villain. maybe it shifts because of a villain in the movie.

Be surprising if it turns out that it's evolution becomes the Lucario of the generation it features in, Bug/Dragon could be a quirky typing.

Re: New Pokémon May Be On the Way Following Movie Trailer Reveal

Plucky

Taking a shot in the dark and assuming it's a part of Zygarde granted sapience, it probably starts cute and cuddly like other baby pokemon & Phione, but the mother Zygarde itself probably is forced into it's Giant Forme because of the missing DNA segment.

It's the only way they can have Zygarde in a passive-villainous role without having Human villains or trying to shoehorn the other 2 legends into the movie, kind of like how the Mewtwo BW movie simply went with the "Misunderstood" villain angle with Genesect or how the thieves in the Diancie movie were just thugs with Yveltal itself being a benevolent "villain" just to add danger to the movie.

its generally a rule in pokemon movies is villainous humans ranges from money/power-orientated (The Phantom, Iron-Mask Marauder), passive/misunderstood (Mewtwo, Lawrence III, Molly Hale, Butler, Damon) then you have the ultra villainous ones who has an actual goal (Zero, Marcus, Grings Kodai, even Iron-Mask edges close to this with Celebi) which just leaves Pokemon like Rayquaza, the Regis, Time-Space Trio as neutral-villains for those movies that takes place in natural/unexplained circumstances.

Re: Nintendo of America Apologises for amiibo Shortages and Promises More Re-Stocks

Plucky

Isn't this just saying that they're only bringing back Amiibos in games that they're featured in? amiibo tap/classics is amiibo-neutral. at best we're going to see Ike/Marth but not Robin because he was recently released, just for Code Name S.T.E.A.M or in prep for whatever the US/EU versions of Fire Emblem If going to use if they're not getting the TCG. (barring a flat download)

Same thing goes for Villager, there's still that Happy Homes spinoff, though who knows. maybe some of the AC cards would work as Variants for Villager like how Toon Link works as a Link in Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart 8 for the unlockables.

I wouldn't think they'll touch any of the main Nintendo cast in terms of reprint except for anyone beyond the first 2 waves or if their franchises are large, but not Mario/Pokemon/Zelda large. if Zelda U comes out with Amiibo support, Zelda herself would be justified but not so much so for Ganondorf/ then there's newer series games that probably won't get sequels for a while like Xenoblade, assuming it isn't going to add Amiibo functionality like HW/Mario Kart 8 to fuel the demand.

Re: Rumour: More Super Smash Bros. Code Digging Points to Five Planned DLC Characters and Seven Stages

Plucky

Im not against Ryu, i just feel that it kind of cheats the idea of guest characters. like Mega Man did have a few fighting games but his move set was mostly entirely based around the Classic games. and Pac-Man was retro-filled for Namco as a whole. it feels like Capcom might just cheese out and just transplant one of his movesets into the game with reused assets which would much less soulless in comparison to the life they gave to Mega Man and Pac-Man.

Like he's a fighting character, though since Capcom might be part-creators, maybe they get a little leeway with splitting down the development time of their content like the Mega Man/Bass/Proto Man/Treble Trophies they made; so creating Ryu independently from Lucas and other DLC isn't unbelievable in comparison. I'm not even sure if i want Roy back; other past characters were cut because of either their redundant nature or just advertising.

So Pichu leaving might not be a major loss, and Toon Link could be a spiritual successor to Young Link. which just leaves Roy, Squirtle and Ivysaur. ignoring Snake (3rd party minefield) and Ice Climbers (2 games might be hard to create without snags), the cast is pretty stable. could always save Wolf for Star Fox U. but Lucina has an adjustment with her blade making her damage more reliable, Ike got popularity from Brawl and Robin was a breathing change from the usual swordsmen reps that FE added.

Maybe Bayonetta (if the whole formalities with Sega being publishers pre-Wii U isn't a prob), 9-Volt, Young Porky Minch, Wonder Red, Bubbles and possibly K Rool.

Re: Hasbro To Bring Yo-Kai Watch Toy Range to the West, in 2016

Plucky

that years long gap is probably going to look startling, unless the games were remade/improved for the export. otherwise you're seeing something like a Pre-Nintendo Network-era game in the west when it already has 2 Games and the first one is almost 2 years old in July.

always need a new franchise, being made by level-5 will probably be pretty good. lets just hope they don't attempt to heavily bowdlerize the core material, or shunt the TV stuff onto Disney XD just to hastily pump only 20 episodes in 2 weeks in august, only to be forgotten about until it appears on EU Nintendo's anime channel app, or CITV.

Re: Video: YouTube's Gaming Historian Takes Offense At One Element Of Mario's Game Boy Past

Plucky

Is there even any sort of context here. are they even animated? if they're animated then obviously the sprites are layered in such a way that they can only display so many colors at once. hence the elephant would look like dark-green on the screen which is shared with the skin on Mario.

This leaves 3 additional colors for Mario to utilize, Mario used a lighter green on the clothing to add a little distinctive variance, there is a 5th color but that requires the void of color used at all, it normally wouldn't be a problem unless the characters move past background tiles like in Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins. something had to give, if they colored in the grass then the shade-variance would be non-noticable for the elephant/mario.

PS: seems clickbaity.

Re: Video: A New Game Theory for Pokémon Lore Gets Rather Scientific

Plucky

that theory is just grating. personally i think the games never even implied that there were separate universes until Pokemon Black/White where the Entralink is explicitly mentioned into visiting other worlds, at first the slight differences was to emphasize cultural/natural divergences like futuristic cities or a more traditional town.

Only problem is that there's still unknown questions; perhaps the core foundation in all universes always had Primal Pokemon, just that the 2nd time they awoke...it either happened, or AZ wasn't around to tell the the Draconids from (three-thousand years ago) back then about Mega Evolution; which explains why the mural is in such pristine condition in the Remake universe whilst the Original universe had a long winding cave.

Its also possible that we could take the Arceus theory, in that whenever an Egg is produced, the universe attempts to form a Pokemon that is within parameters which wouldn't be a problem for non-legendaries. however Arceus had to create entire universes just to hand you a single time-space trio member. so 1 Pokemon dieing wouldn't matter, but the infinity Energy was found in the Altered Universe which may have been "tainted" but crystalized Paradoxes -OR- the universes way of preserving deceased a deceased Pokemon's impact on the universe. now the only mystery is how did AZ supposedly obtain a "necronomicon" of some kind.

Unless the distortion world is immune from universal disturbances which may enable common humans to transcend universes without Hoopa Hoops, though this would essentially bend logic in multiple Giratina, unless the 2 events are canon?

probably have to draw a picture or something...

Re: Rumour: Terraria is Making Its Way to Wii U and 3DS

Plucky

With the crossover love Nintendo has shown to Rayman Legends, Monster Hunter, Bayonetta and so forth, Terraria on Wii U could be really quirky. the Plumber's clothes were Mario-colored in the PC release but was swapped around for the console releases (to Jumpman), it also changed Link's clothes from Green to Purple.

They could have free reign as long as they're tasteful about things, Link's Hookshot, fighting the Moon as some sort of massive Eye of Cthulu-like creature. or maybe unique "preset" worlds to load up that are themed around Nintendo IPs with their own structured objectives with unique biomes and rewards.

Have to rate the PC Terraria as excellent, however the Vita version is really great on a handheld. can't really see the 3DS handling it well unless it was a 3DS, doesn't help that Vita is more like a miniature PS2/3 in terms of content which makes porting games like FFX easy. the Android version has to be bottom tier though...no buttons; need higher end devices just to not freeze and that you have to use workarounds just to generate "imputs" by touching onscreen buttons generated by apps.

Re: Nintendo Reveals New Range, Details and Compatibility for amiibo

Plucky

Pac-Man and Ness are probably going to be the most bought out amiibos. former because of 3rd party contracts (really, there might be production limits) and latter because of the energized fanbase due to Smash. it'll be followed by Charizard (western Pokemon fans), then Lucina.

Robin follows Lucina, but Wario would unfortunately be a Diddy in some areas. :x

Re: Reminder: The Nintendo Network Premium Promotion Ends on 31st December

Plucky

other promotions seems to have some effect, like the Famicom 30th anniversary monthly sale gave 2 points per game, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate granted 420 points and that was from registering Mario Kart 8's Stars code for the free game.

Surprisingly, i didn't download much, probably should transfer the DKC trilogy sometime.

Re: Rumour: Villager, Marth & Wii Fit Trainer amiibo Discontinued

Plucky

Same here, i would've thought the target audience for the Amiibos would've been Smash fans (Marth) and Animal Crossing's explosive growth, Wii Fit Trainer looked like the obvious first discontinuation. probably predict that the next lots of Discontinued amiibos would be Little Mac and Pit (batch 2), Dedede and Shulk (batch 3).

The inevitable Sonic amiibo would probably more popular than Mega Man and Pac-Man, but they'll probably be discontinued due to 3rd party rights usage rather than filling out a projected sales quota. or who knows, maybe they ship individual containers with mixed amiibos in different quantities in other countries?

Safe to assume that Villager and Toon Link are safe in Japan.

Re: Announcement Of "Delta Episode" Brings More Legendaries & Additional Story Arc To Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire

Plucky

I hope Game Freak uses this as an oppertounity for some Arc Wielding; you know, things like Cyrus claiming that keeping legendary Pokemon in Pokeballs nulls down their power (about Dimensional Trio), the Kalos Sundial falling from space...reacting with Key Stones.

The fact that Wild Deoxys can change form without touching meteorites seems to imply that Cyrus is right, but the species may be living Key/Mega Stones of some kind, the Mega Evolution cocoon shows a sigil of DNA; since Deoxys consists entirely of stylized DNA and potentially a Key Stone Core, it can "evolve" by will.

This rotates back to the rivalry Rayquaza had during Destiny Deoxys, presumably it fought Primal Groudon/Kyogre in the past, so the fact that Deoxys can shift, perhaps it's triggering false Primal alarms for Rayquaza? There's also the Jade Orb, unless Jade Orbs are just used to track Rayquaza down like a Silver Wing, but an imbued Orb transforms into the Delta Emerald/Rayquazite.

Re: Link amiibo Compatibility Confirmed for Hyrule Warriors

Plucky

I'd assume it would do something weird like unlock a Scarfless Link in HW, or maybe the ability to play as Link w/o the DLC in Mario Kart 8. what else to do with Amiibos in games where statistics might not be that clearcut, especially if it only holds Figure Fighter data for Smash? Only issue is the unlockability aspect and maybe courses for MK8.

If it's a perma unlock, then they might lose potential DLC sales from people simply swapping Amiibos, if it's limited unlocks, then it kinda forces the usage, only other option is a time-based system that uses a Nintendo ID, or personally number the Amiibos themselves which might prove to be prone to hacking. (if older Skylander figure data is a vision into what could be editing)

Re: Super Smash Bros. Fans Teased Further by New Mode Screenshot

Plucky

Maybe it's a mode where you play as a single Hand on the Gamepad, you try to endure waves of enemies that are generated on the fly, Master Hand being regular with perhaps 2-3 stocks/upgradable stat management whilst Crazy Hand is more of a cruel permadeath mode?

Rosalina was partially inspired by the tweaking glitch of Ice Climbers, maybe playable hands in a restricted place is Nintendo's way of meeting halfway: playing as a hand in a conventional fight would be extremely weird. but if they're regulated to a single player game mode, then it would be more softer.
