This Direct felt like it was made for me personally. I would give it a 10/10 but I can see why other people wouldn't be so excited by it. I think finishing with Fire Emblem elicited the biggest reaction I have ever had from a Direct.
The Awakening soundtrack was the first time I really noticed the effect of music in games. There was a time when I couldn't sleep without "Don't Speak Her Name" playing in the background. Needless to say, I'm very excited by this addition.
I decided to put motion controls on and played Wii Rainbow Road last night, I felt transported back to being 8 years old, but with a little bit more skill. Also loved to see your character still burns up in the atmosphere when they fall off Rainbow Road, just as on Wii.
My favourite Pokémon console is the Giratina DS lite that was available through Club Nintendo in Europe. I used to dream of collecting the 30,000 stars required for it.
I could not work out how to get down from the first tower in Breath of the Wild. I kept jumping off, knowing that there was a paraglider in the game from trailers and assuming it would deploy when I jumped. I died several times before thinking to take the ladder I'd just used to get up there.
I'm torn on a favourite. I have nostalgia for Coconut Mall, I've never raced on Sky Garden so excited to try it and Ninja Hideaway is a great course on Tour that I was really hoping would come to console soon. I am so excited to get more content for this game.
I always defended this game because I like plot in Mario games and I love the setting of Isle Delfino. However I have to admit I'd never played it (not the best place to be making an argument from I know). I got to Rico Habour mission 1 before I decided to just move on to Galaxy.
Will this be using voice clips from the film or the classic grunts? I much prefer the grunts in the early Lego games. I'm bound to get this though either way.
Sadly my Switch is being sent off for a repair on Monday but I've used this weekend to finally get round to finishing Captain Toad and play some Mario Maker 2. I nearly bought Link's Awakening on Friday but I'll wait till I have my Switch back before purchasing it.
The second to last paragraph has made me curious: why has Nintendo never been able to crack the UK in the same way Sega, Sony and Microsoft all have at different times? I know today their advertising model leaves a lot to be desired but that cannot be the only thing, right?
My favourite game of all time. I know its not perfect and not everyone will enjoy it but I can just remember smiling the whole time I played. I just played through the New Donk City Festival as a celebration of the anniversary and I still got a little choked up. This game brought me so much joy in a way no other game has and it will take some work to be beaten.
Seeing Rosalina on this list just made me realise how crazy and creative a Galaxy section of this game could be. Plus I'd love to hear a Grant Kirkhope rendition of Rosalina's Observatory.
I'm going to have to buy this, aren't I... There's too much good stuff on the Switch, I have a lot of free time at the moment and I still don't have enough to play as much as I want to.
I hate to be this guy but Gary didn't start with Eevee in the anime. He started with Squirtle and later caught an Eevee. However you did remind me of Pikachu and the ketchup bottle so I can't exactly be disappointed by an easily made mistake.
I was in CEX the other day and a mum bought it for her young son. I thought it was very strange but I can see the appeal for young children (having been quite young myself when it first released).
Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays to everyone who writes or reads on this site. The articles are always brilliant and the community matches that. Have a wonderful time everyone!
Super Mario Odyssey got my vote. I expect Zelda to win but Odyssey is my personal favourite game of all time. I felt a joy playing Odyssey that no other game has given me.
I think Mario Odyssey was more deserving personally. That game has given me an excitement unmatched by any other game and before it I had never even finished a Mario game. I still haven't completed BOTW and in part it's because I find it a bit boring. Perhaps it's because I'm not inventive enough to mess around with mechanics and what not, but the game world just feels a little empty for me. Still great win for Nintendo and to have two games nominated is a huge success. Let's hope they can keep the momentum into next year (I think they can) and this win translates to more great games and more Switch sales.
I really liked it. I was worried Nintendo would be over simplistic but just as with Fire Emblem, they've managed to create a taster version of the franchise. This should feed the Animal Crossing hunger until its time for a new main series entry.
I absolutely love my New Nintendo 3DS for all of the reasons in this article. After owning the DSi XL I knew I wouldn't want to have an XL model again. The screen always seemed to distort the game for me slightly and ruined the emersion. It's a shame that as the 3DS slowly bites the bullet, my favourite model goes before the rest of the family.
I'm okay with this. I wasn't a fan of people's predictions. I bought Diamond and Pearl to play with my fiancée last week because they were my first Pokémon games so I didn't really want a remake. As for Stars, I don't get why people would want a third version. They're cash grabs and whilst I do enjoy what they add to the story, I'd rather have a new story. These games will provide a new story and hopefully tell us what happens to Lillie and Lusamine.
@TheLobster I refuse to play the game around my girlfriend following the verbal abuse for the number of times I fell off that tower before finding the ladder down.
@NintySnesMan Unfortunately these guys have to make a living from their work. This is probably the fairest option for both producer and consumer. The alternatives are you either have to pay subscription for the news or these guys have to go and get new jobs and we lose all the content that they want to make and we want to read.
Glad to hear it. I just moved from somewhere where there were no gyms to somewhere where they're everywhere and my Pokémon are really not in a position to take on any of the gyms.
I do understand why everyone is upset. The XY anime felt like a step in the right direction. The visuals were amazing and it developed actual characters and relationships between them (not just Ash and Serena either). This feels like they're making a children's TV show from my childhood where the situation almost reset every day, rather than a modern one which makes engaging stories and arcs.
I am very tempted to get Hyrule Warriors Legends following this. I know I am in a minority but I love Spirit Tracks! It was covered in one of the first Nintendo Magazines I bought for myself and I have loved it ever since. Plus I love the amount to which Zelda is involved in the plot. Sure she remains something of a damsel in distress but she isn't sitting around all day to be rescued and that really adds to the character.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Professor Layton And The Curious Village
The European box art sets a consistent style across all of the games that I enjoy more.

Re: Blizzard Has Officially Renamed Overwatch's McCree
Why reference the name change in the backstory? This reads to me as though the character changed his name to avoid the harassment lawsuits.
Re: Random: Local Council Installs Plant Pots That Look Like Mario Warp Pipes, And Residents Aren't Happy
My friend was so excited when she saw these earlier and had to show me right away. I love them.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Latest Event Celebrates Long-Haired Spirits
Three of the characters in that image are songstresses, can't help but think that would have been a better theme for an event than "long hair"
Re: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Will Feature Almost 500 Characters, Key Art And Screenshots Revealed

Re: Random: Please Nintendo, Animal Crossing: New Horizons Needs A Balloon Nerf Right Now
On Wednesday night I could actually hear the balloons as I tried to go to sleep.
Re: Feature: Pokémon Sword And Shield: What UK Locations Are The Towns In Galar Based On?
Motostoke reminds me of Birmingham. It's industrial and filled with canals. The stadium even looks like the University's main tower.
Stow-On-Side is at least partly inspired by places like the Jurassic Coast in Dorset and Devon.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 28th)

Re: Rumour: Did Bethesda Just Tease DOOM 2 For This Year's E3?
I think you're right there. The wording is very strange, I can't imagine it flowing very well, so I think this is very credible.
