Re: Nintendo Files Lawsuit Against ROM Website Offering Nearly 300,000 Switch Downloads

@Kalmaro

As someone who cares about preserving gaming history and is a huge retro enthusiast, I can no longer agree with you here. Believe me, I used to be adamantly against emulation, but there are so many games you just can't buy anymore. If you can, it's from third party vendors who had no hand in developing/publishing these games who charge ridiculous amounts of money. I understand Nintendo wanting to protect their I.P, and I can't say that it doesn't make sense from a business standpoint. But as a videogame fan, especially of Nintendo and retro games, it'll be a sad day when there's no way to play some of these old school gems. Emulating games these companies still sell is totally wrong, but you aren't harming anyone by downloading an English translated copy of Magical Pop'n.

Re: Iron Galaxy Helped Bring Overwatch To Switch, Nintendo Version Runs At 30fps

Phostachio

I love my Switch and all of my other platforms have been collecting dust for quite a while. That being said, I really couldn't ever see myself play an online-only competitive shooter like this on it when the framerate has been cut in half. If it had a story mode or local multiplayer sure, but requiring me to always be connected to the internet eliminates the whole reason why I choose to buy multiplatform games on Switch over PC.

@Magrane @earthb0und

Even without the Zelda comparison (which is fair, it's aping Zelda through and through), the lack of challenge is a fair criticism. If you're going to have puzzles be an integral part of the gameplay, they need to take more than three seconds to figure out.

Re: Feature: Just Who The Heck Is Terry Bogard, Smash Bros. Ultimate's Latest DLC Fighter?

@DK-Fan

Why are they annoying because they don't know who Terry is? Fatal Fury hasn't exactly been big in a long time, and it was always second to Street Fighter popularity-wise. Outside of the hardcore fighting game fans or older gamers, Fatal Fury hasn't been talked about much since I was a kid. No need to insult folks. I agree that these kids on Twitter acting like Terry isn't a big deal because they don't know him are annoying, but there's no need to stoop to their level.

Re: Feature: Just Who The Heck Is Terry Bogard, Smash Bros. Ultimate's Latest DLC Fighter?

Phostachio

I'm glad they picked a semi-obscure character more casual modern Nintendo fans wouldn't know about. After getting Hero and Banjo, I'm satisfied with the fighter pass and would like to be surprised by more obscure characters. Smash is a great way to give lesser known franchises attention and get more people into them. Hope they include a few gender swap skins as well, prefer Terry as a woman.

@Heavyarms55

The art style yes, but just because I like Dr. Stone or Cowboy Bebop doesn't mean I'd automatically be into this kind of game. Again, I wouldn't necessarily call people who like this kind of game anime fans, because a good deal of them would probably get offended for being lumped in with.... Whatever this is. I guess incel was a little too strong, though. My bad.

@TurboTEF

I replied to BadEndBrit because it seemed like he wanted to argue with someone who disagrees with him. My beef isn't really with anyone who is just looking forward to this game, it was with Brit who said that he was waiting for people to complain about this game so he could defend it, which I find weird. Like, who cares what other people think? Why go out of your way to defend your interests and tastes to strangers on the internet?

Re: Gun Gun Pixies Eyes Up A Release On Switch Next Week

@BadEndBrit

First of all, relax. No one is telling you that you can't play these types of games, I merely find them distasteful. I really don't care what you do with your time. It's when people get so defensive about playing these games that I start to question it. If I was into a game like this, I certainly wouldn't let other people know.

Secondly, I don't play many first person shooters, and the ones that I do have you fighting evil non-human beings (Halo, Doom) who are trying to murder you. I don't play games where you murder innocent people, and I am very much aware of North America's gun violence problem and am against civilians owning military-grade weapons. So I really don't know why you brought up this FPS thing, that isn't the subject of my ire in this particular instance.

In this game you spy on unaware women in vulnerable situations. Try to spin this any way you want, it's distasteful. At the end of the day it's just a game, and everyone has their guilty pleasures. Carry on.

The problem is that the pervy "fanservice" is usually the most notable thing about these games. Most of the time the gameplay is at best extremely mediocre, not even worth mentioning. I love Japan, but not for crap like this. Spend less time looking at scantily clad underage girls and try to actually connect with a woman in real life.

I honestly don't care at this point if I'm labeled a SJW, my respect of the opposite sex is why some women find me desirable.

@RazorWind

No-one is arguing the right to free speech. I'm just curious about the intent. You might as well be complaining to yourself with all the good it does here. As I've said before, their time and energy is better spent e-mailing Game Freak or commenting on their Twitter feed or something.

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Won't Support Pokémon Global Link

Phostachio

Also, to the people who really aren't going to buy this game but spend a decent amount of time complaining about it: what is your intent? To try and dissuade complete strangers whose time and money is none of your concern to not purchase a game just because you aren't interested in it? I can't imagine a better way to waste your time on the internet. You really need to get outside.

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Won't Support Pokémon Global Link

Phostachio

@Erufuda

The issue is that complaining at each other instead of Game Freak solves nothing and the end result is always the same. If your issue with the game is the deciding factor on whether you buy it or not, don't you think your time would be better spent taking it up with the developers? They aren't reading comments on Pokemon articles at NintendoLife, that I can assure you. Complaints here mean nothing when you go and buy the game anyway, no one really cares what you do with your money here. I'd rather spend my time here discussing things I'm interested in, not things I'm not.

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Won't Support Pokémon Global Link

Phostachio

@darkswabber

The reddit nerds are still going to buy the game regardless. I'm so sick of this incessant internet whining just for the sake of whining. I rarely go on message boards anymore because the minority is always the loudest, and they never prove anything by it. Mark my words, Sword and Shield will be in the top three best-selling Pokemon generations of all time, if not number one in a couple of years. Reddit and NintendoLife are not indicative of the general public's interest in the games, because most people have better things to do than cry on the internet all day.

Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Won't Support Pokémon Global Link

Phostachio

@Xelha

How is this a problem? PGL was outdated, and they're basically saying you don't have to go on a website to access features you shouldn't have to go on a website for anyway. I get that you hate Sword and Shield even though you haven't played them, but you're seriously reaching at this point.

Re: Review: Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet Complete Edition - This Anime Adaptation Misses The Target

Phostachio

@nessisonett

Not to a weeb it isn't.

From what I've read on Metacritic and what I've heard from a fan of the anime, this game is mediocre. Unless you're a diehard SAO person, I can't see why you'd buy this. Sloppy controls alone is enough to deter me from an action game.

@suikoden the consensus is that the game is mediocre, I don't know how they're going against the grain with this.

Re: Sorry Nintendo, But The 3DS Really Is Dead Now

Phostachio

@teko

I agree that it's worth buying, but that isn't what I was getting at. A system being supported with the latest games is definitely important, and if someone was choosing between a Switch and 3DS, I think that'd be a super important deciding factor for them.

Re: Sorry Nintendo, But The 3DS Really Is Dead Now

Phostachio

@TheRealKyleHyde @Tantani

I don't really understand why people are getting upset about this. The 3DS is a fantastic system with one of the best libraries to grace a Nintendo console. That being said, while it isn't dead commercially (still being sold in stores), it's definitely dead in terms of Nintendo game support. You don't have to take offense to that. No-one is telling you to stop playing your system. Articles like this are good for customers who might be thinking about buying a 3DS but worried about how much support it's going to get in terms of software.

Re: Review: What Remains of Edith Finch - One Of The Most Unforgettable Games On Switch

Phostachio

@nessisonett

But it really isn't much of a game, is it? I'm not badmouthing it, visual novels are awesome and I try to play at least 5 a year but I don't really think I'd consider them games. I'd recommend everyone experience Edith Finch, watch it on YouTube or buy if it visual novels are your thing. I just really can't consider this a game, putting it in the same category of media as Mario or Zelda isn't really fair to the people who design actual games or people who just want you to experience a story.

Re: Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Switch Fix Targeting A Mid-July Release

Phostachio

Oof, this game was going to be a day one purchase on Switch. It baffles me that the best-selling version of the game is also the worst. Even if they fix the many issues it has, I'm not picking it up until it goes on sale. There's no excuse for the state it's in at launch, they've been working on this game for years. I'll just go back and replay Castlevania games when I get the urge for that experience.

Re: Is Game Freak "Recycling" 3DS Animations In Pokémon Sword And Shield On Switch?

Phostachio

Eh, can't say this really bothers me. I know Pokemon games don't get as much development time as Zelda, and that they have to cut corners with pretty much every new entry. I'm still excited for Sword and Shield, but I do hope they stop milking the mainline franchise so much. Get all the spin offs out you want, but take a good 4-5 years to work on the generation after SnS. I still have love for the franchise and have been with it since the beginning, but ever since X and Y I've started getting the games because of nostalgia instead of genuinely being excited for a great new JRPG like I was for Black and White.
