I don't disagree that the rules need fixin. I personally wouldn't be against a rule where if you avoided your opponent for a certain amount of time, you'd automatically forfeit the match. Still stand by my original argument that walking off-stage was incredibly childish though.
I'm not supporting the guy, I do indeed think he was playing like a coward but I also believe that when you're playing in a live competition you need to have good showmanship. Walking off stage wasn't cool and a poor way to go about it.
It is about being a bigger man. If he was playing a private match with a friend it'd be different, but he was playing in a live competition that he agreed to take part in and people had to work to set up and get seats filled. If you condone his behavior you're probably just as petty.
I hate that people keep calling folks who want Persona 5 for Switch "port beggars". The protagonist is in Smash, so expecting the game on Switch isn't unreasonable at all. Final Fantasy VII used to be a big deal for PlayStation fanboys as well, but Nintendo came in and stole yo girl. The power of the Switch is too great, Nintendo will be taking your Persona 5 just like it took that and the best version of Dragon Quest. (I probably won't even double dip for Persona 5, already played through it)
As far as I'm concerned, once Persona 5 comes to Switch, all PS4 will have as far as system sellers goes is Bloodborne.
Eh, you can play the game however you want, which is why you're given so many options. I personally play with items on most of the time, but I find it fun to turn them off every now and then, too.
But he still lost, so why walk off stage? I'm not saying Chango wasn't acting like a coward, I'm saying that Faux should have shown that he was the bigger man and finished the match. Unfortunately what Chango did wasn't against the rules.
Camping is lame, but what he did wasn't against the rules and Faux didn't need to throw a fit about it during a competition in front of an audience. If he had played the entirety of the match I would have called Chango out on being an unskilled loser who had to be cheap to win, but Faux walking off the stage certainly didn't make him the bigger man here.
I knew they'd released it before, but I thought that had been their excuse for not putting it on the latest Sega Classics collection for Switch/etc. My bad.
That's where you'll want to mod it onto your SNES Classic, because I highly doubt this mini console will have Sonic 3 either due to licensing issues with the music.
While this is cool to have as a collector's item, it's incredibly easy to just mod your SNES Classic and get all of these games on there. (Bought the Sega Genesis Classics collection for Switch, so I don't feel bad at all about it)
Oh for sure, Cuphead was absolutely the most important part of the Direct for most people and it's a smashing game. I might even double dip! I was just personally super stoked that we got a sequel to Blaster Master, and that it was released that same day.
The real highlight of the Direct for me. Cuphead coming to Switch is great for people who don't own it already, and Cadence of Hyrule looks fantastic, but the first Blaster Master Zero is still one of my favorite games on Switch. 2 improved upon it in every way imo, a perfect sequel and so far one of the GOTY contenders for me along with Sekiro.
XIV is a gigantic improvement in every conceivable way, the best MMO I've ever played. Sadly it was my last just because I don't have time to commit to one game so much anymore, but it was amazing.
It isn't a successor to the Switch though, just a Pro model similar to the PS4 Pro/Xbox One X. I know there were a couple games exclusive to the New 3DS, but I don't see that happening here, especially because of the backlash that happened with that.
I don't understand why people get upset when a newer, more powerful version of their console gets announced. You don't have to buy it, and as long as games aren't made exclusively for it, you can still play every new Switch game.
Yeah they're copying Nintendo, but imitation is the highest form of flattery, and it's a great way to show off your games so good for Sony. Not personally a fan of the PS4 outside of Bloodborne and P5, but I prefer these types of presentations over E3 since that's only once a year. Like others have said, I doubt it'll have the same charm as a Nintendo Direct.
It's bygone because of how mainstream gaming has become, and how long games tend to be these days. If a game is intended to be difficult, the developer shouldn't have to water down their vision for babies who need checkpoints every five seconds. Not enough games have the "get good" mentality in my opinion. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
Sorry for getting rude there, I just don't at all agree that Cuphead has bad game design. It's challenging but fair, stages are pretty short so you can get right back into the action and try again. Cuphead requires you to learn its stages and master them, that kind of design should be praised.
I'm sure that has a little to do with it, but I'd argue the Switch being as popular as it is, especially for indie games, is the biggest factor at play.
Halo is coming to Steam. As much as I disagree with putting consoles and PCs into separate categories (fanboys love to do this to deflect comparisons between the two), you'd still consider Halo a console exclusive for Xbox. Cuphead on Xbox was the same way, until now.
Sonic is a crappy franchise. When only 4 or 5 games out of your 30+ game franchise are decent enough to warrant playing, you've done goofed. Mania doesn't count, wasn't developed by them and it's so sad that fans can make a better game than they can. Just because the world and characters are likeable doesn't save the franchise from probably the most inconsistent level of quality and care I've ever seen from a long-running game series.
Great game, and it has been years since I've played this on the 360. Would definitely double dip after all this time, co-op with my girl would be a blast.
I'd like to see a sequel to Generations U that has some of World's QOL additions without its casual catering. World had the worst multiplayer in franchise history (seriously, requiring each player to watch mandatory story cutscenes, most of which, apart from looking nice, were not improvements from previous games, before you could join up together was beyond dumb), the least amount of content at launch in years, and a badly designed hub world among other things that I disliked.
Looks fun, but I really hope they add a great new mechanic so it doesn't feel like it was just made for nostalgia sake, because I have all three games on my SNES Mini and if it's just more of the same I'll go back and play those.
My whole point is that just because he doesn't find the portability that useful doesn't mean he needs to show bias and downplay it as a selling point. I really have a hard time believing he has a Switch, and even if he does, he focuses too much on specs when it's obvious why the Switch is underpowered compared to those already underpowered consoles: the portability. A portable as powerful as a PS4 would probably have a dead battery within thirty minutes of play, it's an unfair comparison. Again, he doesn't want to talk about PC because he knows that's a more apt comparison, where the PS4 doesn't look so great. Consoles and PC are in the same category, don't kid yourself into believing they aren't. Both have to be played stationary at home (unless you get a gaming laptop), both can be played with controllers and both can be hooked up to a television. The difference is that PC is more powerful, has more options, much better deals on software, can do all sorts of other things besides play games, and has mods/etc.
Also, fully agree with @shining_nexus in their opinion that Japanese games are the best.
Thank you, the fact that he thinks the Ubisoft open world design so many AAA games use is better than BotW's is laughable at best. Those games tend to funnel you from world map marker to world map marker to do a handful of side activities that have almost no variation from one another, all to just say that you fully completed the game. You ignore the world around you to get to the next marker as quickly as you can, there's nothing to do in the world outside of those markers and what the game tells you to do. Those types of games feel like you're touring the world on a bus instead of actually exploring it, which is what BotW does so well.
I didn't bother replying to him, just blocked him and moved on. He acts like portability isn't a big deal, which it absolutely is and it's what the Switch has over those other consoles. He probably doesn't leave his house much, but as someone who lives in Los Angeles and spends a lot of time in transit and not much time at home, the Switch is a godsend with a killer library. My favorite system since the SNES and DS.
They are better than Sony's. Let's take a second to compare how many Nintendo and Sony first party games are higher than 90 on Metacritic. I don't have much else to say to you because it's clear that you're a biased Sony fan, hell I didn't see one mention of PC gaming in your replies so it's obvious that you, like a lot of other Sony diehards, like to pretend that it doesn't exist. You wouldn't be able to argue about specs otherwise. If I wanted a powerful console (don't need one, see PC gaming), I'd go with the Xbox One X, not the underpowered PS4 Pro.
Also, BotW does open world better than any other open world game I've ever played. It's a 10, easy. Sorry.
I think the big 3 all have gotten arrogant at one point or another. Xbox did it last gen and Sony is being pretty arrogant this gen, and Nintendo has always done what Nintendo wants. I personally like an underdog better anyway, you have more to prove when you aren't on top. Look at how cool Microsoft has been lately, buying up quality studios, allowing cross play, and chumming it up with Nintendo.
The Switch is the ONLY appealing console as far as I'm concerned. The PS4 is just an underpowered PC at this point, it has no interesting gimmicks to make it stand out. Some good exclusives, sure, but none that have the staying power of first party Nintendo titles and the two PS4 exclusives I really liked, I played on my lady's console.
Not trying to put PS4 owners down here, just saying that the argument that the ps5 will make the Switch irrelevant is silly. It definitely won't start outselling the Switch in Japan, and it isn't going to slow down Switch sales anywhere else. Unless the PS5 rips off the Switch's gimmick (Sony loves to copy Nintendo, so it's possible), the Switch has its own niche and a ton of people own a PlayStation AND Switch.
Yeah, no. You can buy premium gear creates with acorns, or at least you could at launch. Don't mislead people here into buying Ubisoft's crap. I was a fan of this franchise, but I'm not going to bother with this kind of anti-consumer BS. Loot boxes of any kind are just a bad form of in-game progression, gating them behind in-game currency you can spend real money to obtain is even worse.
I don't care how good the game is, there are tons of great games that don't have this problem. You guys can get used to loot boxes if you feel you have to, but I have no problem going back and playing games released in a time before microtransactions, loot boxes, etcetera.
I don't really get your point. He was supposed to. I've never worked for an executive of a company that didn't make way more than I do. He's the big boss man, 1.2 million a year to be the head of a multi-billion company sounds about right to me. Comparing how much he makes to these western developers is seriously silly considering Bobby Kotick made 28.5 million in 2017 and 800 employees were recently fired from Activision.
The difference between Pokemon and Odyssey/BotW is that those two games had much more development time, especially in BotW's case. Until Pokemon stops being an annual franchise, you aren't going to see giant leaps in innovation.
As for me, I'm pretty dang excited, much more than I was for Let's Go at least. The region looks gorgeous and I'm very excited to see if there have been any changes to the battle system, and can't wait to see what kind of side/post game content it has.
We really saw nothing more than a quick look at the region and the new starters, we don't know anything about the story of content yet. It's too early to be that disappointed is all I'm saying.
It looks great. I'm not blown away, but I'm more than satisfied. People expecting a BotW-style revamp for an annual franchise are really expecting too much, this game hasn't had half the development time BotW did. I'm really hoping the next game after this takes a few years to develop, but for now, Sword and Shield look like a proper return to what Pokemon is supposed to be.
Such a shame, too. Anthem was in development for six years, there's really no excuse for why it launched with as little content as it did. I would have been okay with all of its problems if the story and characters really stood out, but it's barely better than Destiny in that regard. Bioware has created some of my favorite games on PC, and I really wanted Anthem to succeed. They'll be missed.
^ This. The fact that he even tries to compare Anthem to Smash is insane to me. Anthem has fundamental gameplay problems, the game itself is what people are criticizing. That isn't the case with Smash.
Plenty of people get mislead by marketing though. My brother bought the game on both Xbox and PlayStation and is already kind of done with it, he said that there wasn't anything new after the first ten hours. My brother isn't really the type to read reviews or watch impression videos on YouTube, hopefully this gets him to do the research. People here making fun of the game aren't making fun of it because they're Nintendo fanboys my dude, they're making fun of it just like the rest of the internet. It's not good. Not terrible, but very, very mediocre. Pretty much the only standout thing I've seen about Anthem are the visuals. You're right, the game does have a small fanbase who denies all criticism spearheaded towards it, and that's fine. Doesn't mean I'm gonna shut up about it.
I admire RDR for its production value, but I personally don't care for it either. I'm not comparing the two games.
The game has a 60/100 on Metacritic my dude. It just isn't very good, and only selling as well as it is because ita marketing was very misleading and deceptive.
Johnny Cage is the embodiment of everything I dislike about the series honestly. "Oh haha this character flips you off and punches you in the nuts haha funny stuff no mom let me stay up for another half hour please I did my homework"

Re: Ed Boon Teases Mortal Kombat 11 Character With Obscene Hand Gesture
Johnny Cage is the embodiment of everything I dislike about the series honestly. "Oh haha this character flips you off and punches you in the nuts haha funny stuff no mom let me stay up for another half hour please I did my homework"

Can't wait to check these out after work! One of my favorite games on the Switch.
Re: Trials Rising On Switch Doesn't Rise Up To The Challenge Of Its Rivals
Not buying a priced game with lootboxes so this doesn't affect me.
Re: Japanese Charts: Jump Force Kicks New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Out Of The Top Spot
It amazes me that characters alone can sell an otherwise VERY mediocre fighting game. To each their own, though.
