One critically-acclaimed role-playing game worth checking is Divinity: Original Sin 2. It's been well received on PC and its definitive edition is now available on the Nintendo Switch for $49.99 / £44.99 – so you can slay monsters and unleash magic on the go.
If you happen to have played the existing version of the game over on Steam, there's no need to worry about having to restart your adventure. Nintendo's portable version supports cross-saves with the Steam release. So if you already bought the game, you've now got an excuse to buy it again and continue your epic journey.

For first-timers, below are some of the game's key features. We've also got a new trailer for the Switch version:
- Choose from over 5 races and 6 unique origin characters or create your own.
- Unlimited freedom to explore and experiment, with friends or with AI companions.
- Hundreds of additional tweaks and changes come with the Definitive Edition

Easily the biggest surprise of the Direct for me (Well that and Xenoblade 1). So so SO stoked to play this game on Switch, absolutely one of the deepest RPGs out there.
Amazing game. But got it on PC for $19 a while back. CrossSave is great for people who do not want to give up High Resolution and K/M support on PC and still play it on the GO
Hopefully Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is not far behind.
Had me at CrossSave support
Nice. Hopefully they do the same with Neverwinter Nights.
This is really the way to do it. And I think, especially for a game that's been out for a long time, it can be a blocker if you can't transfer saves. Now people can take their 40 hour game save and continue on the road, without having to restart.
By all accounts, this game is a fantastic RPG in the tradition of Ultima and the Infinity Engine classics. And adding the option to share saves with the Steam version is like the cherry on top. This is the developers going the extra mile, to make it worth for fans double dipping
I'm definitely getting Divinity OS 2 on Switch, and I wish that Nintendo could provide a similar cross-save option for the Xenoblade Chronicles remaster.
@Agramonte Pillars of Eternity has already released on Switch unless you just mean a cross save update.
I know deep cRPGs are kinda niche these days, but I'm still surprised this game is getting so little fanfare on Switch. It's a 50+ hour game with a Metacritic average of 93/100 on PC (from 72 reviews). Supossed to be the greatest cRPG of its generation.
@brandonbwii They mean Pillars of Etenity 2. Only the first game has been released.
@BionicDodo For real. In some ways this was the biggest announcement of the entire direct along with Overwatch. Not for me, but in terms of converting people who never considered owning a Nintendo console to purchase one, it’s a huge win. When people talk about getting quality 3rd parties on board for the Switch, they are talking about getting games like this.
@brandonbwii I played the first one. I held off on 2nd for the Switch version. Amazon still has the generic "December 31, 2019" date on it.
I’ve been searching for news about this releasing every so often and not seen much, then this happens. Any idea if there will be a physical release?
Been putting off getting this on PC, as I'm way behind on playing games there. Looks like I'll be even further behind now.
@NotTelevision 100% agree with everything you said.
I'm happy and this game for me will be a must to buy, but where is the first game
The same with Witcher 3 where is the Witcher 2 and first one that are also very good game.
I'll be very, very interested to see how this is running/looking on on Switch. I've it for PS4, but, should said port function as hoped...trade!
Is this getting a physical release, or is it eshop only?
@Mountain_Man Unfortunately I think it is eShop only.
I wonder if limited run or super rare games would want to do a physical of it.
Is there going to be a physical release?
Divinity 2? Awesome, i had this on my steam watch list but never really used my account enough.
Day one buy.
Dialoges and storytelling not as adult as in Pillars of Eternity, but gameplay is SO MUCH better.
OK now we have the three best games of the decade in our beloved nintendo switch:
Breath of the Wild
Slay the Spire
Divinity Original Sin 2: DE
Thanks, Ninty
I would buy it, especially with cross saves, but I cant justify spending more on a second copy of this game than I did on its original release.
If you've never played it before though definitely pick it up. The Divinity games are some of the best. Especially if you like or are interested in tabletop pen and paper RPGs, this is one of the closest you'll get in video game form (not to mention it literally has a game mode specifically for doing this with people).
One of the best games in existence. Everyone here needs to go and buy it.
@Diuran would be great to see other Divinity and Witcher games on the Switch. Maybe some day.
Can anyone say what the performance is like?
And also, honestly, I can't keep going like this anymore: I've just come back from Japan and bought physical Oninaki and Okami, which I'd like to play once I am done with Fire Emblem and Astral Chain and there's this out now, arrgh! Won't even mention PS4 (Persona 5, I am looking at you). And more games are coming. I was normally very good at deciding what is must have and what isn't, but these days there are just so many must haves...
I know this has cross save with PC, but does it have cross play? Can I play on my Switch in a team of people playing on PC? Thanks.
