So this is a remake of FF7, from beginning to end? I mean it’s called Final Fantasy 7 remake, has been advertised as a remake, and we’ve been told that it was a remake for all the time it has been in development. So it’s a full remake through and through, right? We won’t have to buy more parts of it in the future to get the full experience, right? No?
Thought so. It isn’t a full game. I’ve played the original FF7. THAT is a full game. Either you say that it’s a full game that does a terrible job at being a remake of the original because it only covers less than 1/3rd of the events/plot of the original game, or you say that it’s an incomplete remake that will be complete years down the line. You can’t have both.
Yeah, it isn’t a full game. I agree with you and don’t know how anyone could argue otherwise. It’s a remake of a full game, but split into parts. The next FF7 game isn’t going to be a sequel to FF7, it’s going to be another section of FF7. That isn’t a full game, folks.
I don’t blame NL’s admins, I blame this site’s piss-poor community. Seriously, Nintendo Life used to be frequented by a lot of cool people, but the trolls and “gamers” (a title I’m beginning to be embarrassed to be given, as the older I get the more I begin to realize just how tightly associated with racism, incel culture, and overall nastiness it has become) seem to have come out in full force the last couple of years. I’d say the site still has a lot of decent, level-headed users, but I’m really getting worn out. Best to not read comments at all at this point.
I love gyroids, and I've been finished with my fossils for a while now so having something else to collect would be lovely. I'm still having fun with the game and have plenty to do, but I'm looking forward to the updates!
Galaxy 2 had better level design in my opinion, and that's all the reason I need to prefer it over the original. The story of the first is the best 3D Mario had ever been until Odyssey, but it's still very basic. Galaxy 1 and 2 are both up there for best games of all time for me, right next to Link to the Past.
There's not a single cover shooter with movement as fluid as TLOU on the PS2. That, coupled with the acting and motion capture, the enemy A.I, etc., there's no way that game would have ran on a PS2. There weren't even cover shooters like TLoU back then. I agree with your other points though.
'More power to you if you enjoy this but hey, I've got a lawn you can mow and a house you can paint. Sounds fun too, right? I'll even give you an "event" t shirt as a reward. It's hella ugly but it's rare.'
You really should have done your research on this game instead of coming to complain about how dumb you are. No one made you purchase this game, no need to belittle other people for their tastes. It'll still be the best selling non-annual game of 2020.
No, you can trade with other players and hope you see it again. I work 40 hours minimum every week and I still find plenty of time to get to the shop, so that really isn't a good excuse. As for QOL updates, crafting multiple items at once isn't going to change the in-game economy. I don't think there's an easy fix for time traveling when you can change the date and time on your system, the only way I see them doing that is to force you to be online and have your time synced, which people would hate even more.
And to that point about hounding Nintendo, Nintendo would have patched out unintentional exploits, whether it upset their audience or not. They're good developers, that's what they do. You keep complaining about deliberate design choices in the game, and it sounds like AC just isn't your cup of tea.
Lastly, what do you mean by minimizing the target audience? As I've stated before, ACNH is undoubtedly going to be the best-selling game released this year (aside from the obvious Call of Duty and annual sports games), so you're really reaching if you think that many people feel the same way you do
You can burn through AC as fast as you want, but you simply can't win an argument about patching glitches in a game. I don't know why cheaters have to defend their actions. If that's what you want to do, be my guest. Just don't expect a high five.
People don't "need" to abuse glitches. That's like saying someone needs to abuse drugs because their life is hard. You don't need to grind that hard for bells, if you find it tedious take it slower. You have all the time in the world. If playing the game at a leisurely place is a problem for you, you should have done your research on what Animal Crossing is.
Turnips, unlike the duplication glitches, are an intentional feature of the game. They aren't broken.
@SKTTR
Hey man, I respect what you've done with the ore rocks. Took me nearly two weeks to finally get my mining area set up. Ignore the cheaters and play with legit players and you'll be fine. No need to get nasty.
It's not a part of the game, though? I mean Nintendo is literally patching out every duplication glitch that's discovered, so I'm gonna have to side with the devs on this.
As for designing a visually appealing island, there are tons of people who can both do so AND have the patience to play the game naturally to get the items they want. I wouldn't be impressed by your island, but I'm not holding it against you. Play how you want, but don't insult the players who respect the devs and they shouldn't insult you back.
I have to agree with him. Don't get me wrong, I love my PS4 (super excited for TLoU2), but right now I can't say I'm head over heels for the PS5. I feel like it'll just be another system I play two big AAA games on a year like I did with the PS4, and most of my time will continue to go to the Switch. The fast, snappy OS, sleep mode, and handheld play just can't be beat. Also the obvious amazing first party Ninty library and indie support. Graphics are nice but I've been gaming since as long as I can remember and they just don't impress me as much as they did when I was a teenager.
Eh, it is kind of disheartening to see time travelers/dupers with these crazy extravagant islands on social media showing off when they haven't actually earned everything they have. Animal Crossing isn't a game that requires much skill, just time and patience. I couldn't help but feel my time put in not meaning much when I played with time travelers, which is why I don't play with them anymore.
Regardless, the insults on both sides are uncalled for. Calling people sleazy or scumbags is a bit much when referring to cheaters, but calling people who just want to play the game legitimately annoying or ignorant is just as bad.
I love and have been with the series from the beginning, but I really do believe New Horizons is the best entry yet and I can't wait to see the mixture of old and new content they add to the game. I look at my town in New Leaf and compare it to Horizons, and there's just no way I can consider New Leaf the better game. Terraforming and being able to place furniture outside are complete game changers.
I'm certainly no graphics afficiando, but this game is flat out ugly for no reason. They should have just went the Stardew Valley route and went with sprites and a more inspired art style.
It should be going in A FFVII-like fashion, considering it's a remake of FFVII. I and so many other fans were hyped for a remake of one of our favorite childhood games, seeing all of it with modern graphics and QOL improvements but with the plot the same. We did not ask for one of our favorite childhood games to have its plot turned on its head, to drag out a 6 hour intro into a 30+ hour game with generic filler quests and be sold to us piecemeal. Square Enix has been out of touch with its FF fans for a while (look at FFXV), and to me FFVII Remake is just another disappointments in a series of disappointments.
Excellent points, I fully agree with these. I only played VII-R because my brother game shares with me on ps4. I had no plans to buy it. I was either going to wait for all of the parts to release and it be a complete game or a steep sale. After playing it, while I can praise the graphics and soundtrack all day, I just don't think it holds a candle to the original. Weird pacing issues, putting in a lot of filler to extend a relatively short sequence in the original game, and a bad ending soured me on the whole thing. They really shouldn't have called this a remake, especially since Nomura can't seem to control his Kingdom Hearts tendencies.
True, I think we're just surprised that FFVII isn't selling better considering the hype surrounding it. It's a remake of one of the biggest games of all time. In my opinion it isn't a good remake, but people seem to like it and it is well made so I don't really get it.
Aww man, super hyped for this. Animal Crossing, Streets of Rage, Hatsune Miku and now the definitive edition of arguably the greatest modern JRPG. 2020 has been awful for my social life so far, but a great year for games.
Oh I know, it's just frustrating to see this on NintendoLife. Like I said before, I expect this kind of thing on IGN but usually Nintendo fans are above it.
You called being attracted to sex natural, and then called it a weakness that women prey on. So the guys watching these streams are weak victims? Is that really what you're getting at?
I never said the guys viewing these girls can't do so, obviously both parties benefit from it. The girls aren't manipulating anyone. My problem here isn’t with guys watching these girls stream, it’s that they’ll watch them stream and still call them thots and shame them. Those kinds of guys are the problem.
At the end of the day, they do it because it gets views. It's that simple. The guys shaming these girls for showing skin on Twitch are the ones watching the most. They'll watch, get their rocks off, and then shame the girl. That type of behavior is disgusting honestly. I'm not interested in watching those girls stream (I don't like wasting my time watching other people play games in general), but there's obviously demand for it. I can respect their hustle though, and it's always satisfying to think that these girls are taking money from neckbeards who are obviously ashamed of themselves.
Tons of gamers use Twitter. The kind of freaks you seem so proud to lump yourself in with don't use social media because no one likes you. Also, in my experience the people that use snowflake as an insult complain on the internet more than anyone.
Jesus, I can't believe there are people out there defending this guy's lack of professionalism. The sexism and virginity is strong
here, a decent amount of you folks belong in the IGN comment section.
The game was no doubt going to be a best seller on the Switch regardless, New Leaf was one of the best selling 3DS games and interest in the series has only increased since then.
Persona 5 Royal is just 5 with extra stuff, i wouldn't qualify that for GOTY. Same with Xenoblade DE. Final Fantasy VII is a remake that does a bad job at being a remake imo, it isn't even a complete game. The original is better, just uglier.
Whether or not you like AC that much is irrelevant, it's definitely going to be the biggest game of the year both in terms of sales and relevancy, everyone and their mom is playing this game and talking about it and you won't see another game trend like New Horizons this year.
Also, mesome is clearly a troll. I wouldn’t waste my breath on him/her.
Really excited for this, but I'll wait until they patch it to the current version on other platforms. I played the demo on ps4 a while back and love the combat system.
Yeah bud, Animal Crossing hasn't been C tier since New Leaf, and even before that it was at LEAST B tier. IMHO it's always been one of their top franchises.
Aww, don’t let the Animal Crossing review bombers read this! Their pwecious widdle feewings might get hurt!
Also, those FFVII sales are... okay? I mean it isn’t selling badly per se, but i definitely thought it would make a bigger splash. I personally didn’t love the game. Combat was fun and the game is GORGEOUS, but the linearity (squeezing through small spaces to get to another area) got annoying after a while, the story turned into absolute drivel by the end (thanks Nomura for putting Kingdom Hearts plot convolution into a remake of a game that was already plenty convoluted), and I didn’t love all of the remixed songs. Some were great though. Also, I was willing to give them the benefit of doubt when I heard about the game being episodic, but after playing it I just can’t see why other than it being due to budget and time. There was a lot of filler added, and most of it didn’t make the game better. The character stuff was nice and an improvement, but they added a lot of generic JRPG side quests where you go back to areas you’ve already been to fight monsters. Final Fantasy VII does not need filler content.
It’s a pretty good game, but I won’t be buying the next one. I was under the impression this was going to be a remake of VII with the same story, but everything went totally off the rails and not for the better at the end. They should have just called this something else. Make it a kind of pseudo-sequel to 7, have the first five hours or so mirror the original game and THEN add your weird plot twists and continue playing from there.
All in all, if you haven’t played VII before please just play the original. The graphics are very dated but otherwise it’s still very playable today. I can’t recommend the remake when it isn’t even a remake, you are not going to get a good idea of what FFVII is about by playing it, especially with the next couple games.
@gokev13 Right, and that’s how every AC game has been set up before. Families play together in the same town and help each other out and trade amongst each other. Complaining about it now just screams ignorance. I’m glad your family is enjoying playing the game the way it’s meant to be played, nice to see people appreciating it!
This. Also, the people defending the small minority of whiners review bombing this game here go to show just how out of touch with reality a lot of Nintendo Life frequenters are.
People complaining that you can only have one Island per console have obviously never played an Animal Crossing game. It has been like this since the very first game. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it a flaw. It’s a very intentional design choice.
Sales wouldn’t be AS high, but Horizons would still be selling incredibly well. New Leaf was one of the best selling games on 3DS, and Horizons is even better.
I actually really enjoy Sw/Sh and still play from time to time to breed Pokémon, but New Horizons is definitely the better game.
I don’t think it’s cool and don’t play with people who do it, but to each their own tbh. Doesn’t affect me, and they bought the game and can do what they want with it.
I never said it was a 10/10 or a masterpiece, just that it’s a better game than New Leaf. A lot of your criticisms with Horizons were also present in New Leaf, like the repeated dialogue and not being able to move furniture diagonally. Horizons isn’t perfect, but it’s definitely one of my all-time favorite Switch games and probably the one that I’ll play the most.

Re: UK Charts: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Topples FIFA To Reclaim Number One
Re: One Month Later, Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Review-Bombing Is Only Getting Worse
@gokev13 Right, and that’s how every AC game has been set up before. Families play together in the same town and help each other out and trade amongst each other. Complaining about it now just screams ignorance. I’m glad your family is enjoying playing the game the way it’s meant to be played, nice to see people appreciating it!

@johnvboy
This. Also, the people defending the small minority of whiners review bombing this game here go to show just how out of touch with reality a lot of Nintendo Life frequenters are.
Re: One Month Later, Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Review-Bombing Is Only Getting Worse
People complaining that you can only have one Island per console have obviously never played an Animal Crossing game. It has been like this since the very first game. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it a flaw. It’s a very intentional design choice.
Re: Random: Accurate Portrayal Of Famous Statues Send Animal Crossing Fans Wild
No one is offended by this. You guys are clowns.
Re: Former Halo Composer Would "Love To" Work On The Legend Of Zelda Series
The Halo games have amazing soundtracks, so I would be interested in hearing some samples from him.
Re: Japanese Charts: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Overtakes Pokémon Sword And Shield's Lifetime Sales
@WallyWest
Re: Poll: Is It Cool To Time Travel In Animal Crossing: New Horizons?
I don’t think it’s cool and don’t play with people who do it, but to each their own tbh. Doesn’t affect me, and they bought the game and can do what they want with it.
Re: Lack Of Switch Stock In Japan Is Driving Up The Value Of Animal Crossing: New Leaf
@Jutandy
