Re: Surprise, Adding Ultrahand To Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Was A Bit Tricky

Namco

I really had a blast with Ultra Hand, I spend hours making a hybrid vehicle that could drive, float, fly and destroy enemies. It was a real struggle with the build limits...

However, I don't need an Ultra Hand mechanic in the next Zelda game, I'm ready for a more traditional Zelda experience. I had fun with Ultra Hand, but it was basically a game within a game and probably devoured a lot of development time. I'd rather see that time spend elsewhere next time.

Re: Nintendo Reminds Fans Zelda Is Up For Nomination At This Year's Game Awards

Namco

Tears of the Kingdom and Baldur's Gate 3 are both awesome games about freedom. I think they're both great games, but for me Baldur's Gate 3 was on another level. The characters have wonderful voice acting and backstories, the gameplay was innovative and addicting, the soundtrack was a banger. The amount of freedom and choices you could make that would influence the game were unprecedented.

Tears of the Kingdom I liked because it had the same gameplay as Breath of the Wild but with the addition of Ultra Hand. I had a fun time making crazy vehicles... But overall it didn't feel as refreshing as BG3. If ToTK took place in a new overworld it would've been a different story.

Re: Metroid Prime Remastered: Power Suit Upgrade Locations

Namco

@Olliemar28
Thanks for the guide! However, I just came across an error in the order:

You cannot normally get the X-Ray visor before the Gravity Suit and Power Bomb. You need the Power Bomb to get to the X-Ray Visor, and you need the Gravity Suit to get to the Power Bomb.

Not sure about the rest since I'm still in my first ever playthrough!

Re: PSA: For Goodness Sake, Don't Fall For This Nintendo Switch 2 'Leak'

Namco

What does it for me is the re-used colors on the joy-cons. If you want to sell a new product and present it as the next generation it's a very poor idea to use the same color scheme.

But the joy-cons that switch between two modes does feel like something Nintendo would do, on the other hand they're incredibly ugly.

To be completely honest, I am not entirely convinced it's fake. I mean, I was pretty sure the early leaks of Fire Emblem Engage were fake because of the overall poor quality and ugly design decisions (it turned out alright). It's not unthinkable this is a mockup from an earlier phase.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem - The Blazing Blade Is Still As Sharp As Ever

Namco

One of my favourite Fire Emblem games! Characters, story and music were all on point. There was a good balance in the gameplay, not too simple nor complicated. It may not be my absolute favourite, but it's hard to point out any obvious flaws in this entry. I should definitely replay Blazing Blade at some point. Engage tried to do something similar to the four fangs and Nino with the ''four hounds'' but failed rather miserably. Engage copied way too much homework from older games and tried to sell it with a vibrant new coat of paint. If someone who never played a Fire Emblem game asked me where to start, I'd probably recommend Blazing Blade over any of the newer games.

Re: Poll: Are You Still Playing Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

Namco

I think it's a good game and I enjoyed it a lot, but at the same time it's not really what I hoped for. ToTK didn't really scratch my itch for exploring. I've finished the story and most shrines and lightened up the underground, now it's starting to get a bit stale. I know this Hyrule like the back of my hand. They added the underground and the sky islands, however there's surprisingly little to do in the underground, smack a Yiga clan member of their bike, go to some roots, defeat some more bosses... The sky islands look great visually but also don't offer a lot of variation.

I think the story is more interesting than its predecessor. The memories were interesting to watch. I also liked the new characters like Rauru and Sonia. Although I think this Ganondorf might be my least favourite of the bunch, the final battle was rather epic. I didn't like the sages at all to be honest, but Zelda's story arc was nice.

This game needed a lot more different enemies. Compared to BoTW there's only a few more, and back then all of them were ''new''. I kinda miss the guardians from BOTW, they were unique and unlike the gloom hands you couldn't just blow them up with bomb flowers. Also the music, not really an improvement in my honest opinion... BOTW had some bangers like Hyrule Castle, Daruk's theme and Divine Beast Vah Ruta. TOTK had... Colgera's battle and Hyrule Castle? And honestly I still prefer BOTW's version of the castle. The dungeons and shrines? Slight improvement but not by much.

Also, they kept some annoying things like the breaking weapons and korok seeds. For real, who thought it would be fun to collect another 1000 of those??? Ultra Hand is pretty cool, but yeah, in the end I believe I enjoyed BOTW more than TOTK because of the new factor.

Re: Can You Match These Zeldas To The Game They're From?

Namco

17/17

The only one where I had to gamble was Tears of the Kingdom Zelda, because Age of Calamity looked plausible as well. Haven't played that game or really payed attention to it. But the torch from the opening of ToTK put me in the right direction.

Btw, what do you get when you score 0/17? I wonder

Re: Best Zelda Games Of All Time

Namco

@Il_Nintenditore
Nah, just the way people go about it... You at least put ''my opinion'' behind well... your opinion. Some comments are just ''This one shouldn't be this high, it's really not as good as you think! Facts!''

Not that I really care, I was just messing around, as I'm sure more users in this comment section are.

Re: Poll: Breath Of The Wild Vs. Tears Of The Kingdom - Which Final Zelda Trailer Was Better?

Namco

I definitely was super excited for BoTW and the final trailer got me to a hype level I've only had for a handful of games. The delay also played a part, waiting for a new 3D Zelda game for that long was excruciating!

I like that the BoTW trailer starts out slow, the pacing and music is amazing. But it also shows so many epic shots! Yeah, ToTK trailer is also cool but for me BoTW wins by a large margin!

Re: Poll: Which Is The Best Ganondorf?

Namco

Hmmm, TotK's Ganondorf design looks good but his legs look a bit short... I mean for Wind Waker's Ganondorf I get it because the game has a cartoonish style. Maybe it's just the promotional art but it looks a bit odd to me.

That's why I went for OoT's Ganondorf, that one looks the most human and he's also my favourite in terms of character.

I hope TotK shows Ganondorf as a character and doesn't simply make him a final boss.

Re: Random: Mario Movie Director Explains How Blocks Can Float In The Mushroom Kingdom

Namco

Wait, so the blocks aren't attached to the background of the level?!

...Anyway, I don't think this has to be explained. The world of Mario doesn't have to follow the rules of real world psychics. Not that this really counts as a logical explanation... Sharing this was pretty unnecessary and might just encourage people to ask for more unnecessary explanations to explain Mario logic.

Re: Site News: Love What We Do? Become A Nintendo Life Supporter!

Namco

Since NintendoLife is also getting a Twitch channel with Alex, I would love if being a NL supporter would also make you a member of the NL channel. Just an idea, maybe not possible to turn into reality, but would absolutely be an incentive for me to become a supporter!

Anyway, been a member here for 11 years and I still come her often because of the good content, I might become a supporter in the future.

Re: Soapbox: Nobody Does 'More Of The Same' Better Than Nintendo

Namco

''Nobody does more of the same better than Nintendo''

Sure, I guess... and I would like it to stop. I'm getting tired of seeing the same formulas in series like Fire Emblem, Pokémon, Splatoon and Zelda. Always makes me wonder if the next game will be different enough.

...and in my opinion it's not weird ToTK reaction to the trailer wasn't all that positive: 10 minutes for some gameplay mechanics leaves a lot to be desired.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The New Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Trailer?

Namco

That moment when the weapon broke...

I'm not sure... what I really want is new areas, a better story than BoTW, more memorable soundtracks and preferably unique dungeons. Besides the new mechanics (that look a bit odd at first glance) this trailer didn't show too much new stuff. Definitely ''Hmm, bit dull'' for me

Re: Best Of 2022: Professor Layton And The Lost Franchise: Where Did The Beloved Puzzle Series Go?

Namco

Ace Attorney and Professor Layton are at the top of my favourite game series. I really enjoyed the 6 mainline Professor Layton games and the VS Phoenix Wright spin-off. I prefer the original Layton trilogy, though I don't mind the one that came after. I think it's best to leave the series as it is. I don't believe Level-5 will (or can) bring this series back. Still, I hope one day another studio can bring the original 6 games back to modern day consoles, fully drawn in HD.

But yeah, I miss you Layton. I know it sounds cheesy, but these games really have a special place in my heart.

Re: Nintendo Introduces Marth In Fire Emblem Engage

Namco

Extremely noble, extremely charismatic and EXTREMELY overused

I really don't think these returning lords are going to help this game. They had their story. It also doesn't help that Fire Emblem lords are usually in the same character archetype. Most of them aren't all that different.

I'm also afraid they will go heavy on DLC or even go the gacha direction.

They should just focus on making the new characters as fleshed out as they can be.

Still very sceptical about Engage.

Re: Review: Splatoon 3 - The Pinnacle Of The Series And Switch's Slickest Shooter

Namco

It looks like this will be a skip, at least for now.

A lot of improvements over Splatoon 2, I dig that Salmon runs are always available now, but speaking in Splatoon terms: I'm looking for a ''fresh'' experience and the lack of a new mode is what's holding me back for now. No splitscreen for local multiplayer is also a bit of a shame. I wonder how this compares to Splatoon 2 with all the updates and the Octoling DLC, that was a pretty good expansion. Maybe Splatoon 3 gets some cool new content later in its lifespan. Anyway, I see no harm in waiting for a discount.

To those strongly against voice chat... What if:

The game had voice chat... that you can turn off. Not only you can be happy, but the players that want in-game voice chat can be as well. Crazy right?

Re: Of Course Scalpers Are Already Listing Fire Emblem's 30th Anniversary Edition

Namco

@Lionyone When I think of scalpers, people who can't afford food or heating aren't the first that come to mind. If you ask me, it isn't the most logical conclusion. $49.99 is a lot of food you know. Scalping is a form of investment, you need a (small) starting capital in order to start scalping. Money that can be used in another way. So people scalping expensive limited editions to ''survive'' doesn't sound that realistic to me. What we do know is that scalping is a relative easy way to make money, people with few morals that also don't want to work hard are undoubtedly drawn to this practice...

Re: The Original Fire Emblem Is Coming To The West For The First Time Ever On Switch

Namco

@Nemesis666 Try to relax, I could be wrong and it's possible Iwata would fully support this as well. I do not care to defend the former president. However let's not forget how Nintendo changed over the past few years. My Nintendo and Miiverse dissapeared, it's nowadays odd if games don't get DLC, Nintendo online was introduced. I can't help but miss the days when Iwata was president and if these limited releases became a regular event that would truly show a decline in customer loyalty/service (whatever you want to call it). Ofcourse the blind fans will just claim that all of these changes are part of the time / inevitable

Re: The Original Fire Emblem Is Coming To The West For The First Time Ever On Switch

Namco

The art in the special edition is absolutely beautiful

But like many fans negative feelings are more prominent because of the limited availability. I'm dissapointed in Nintendo. If Iwata was still alive I imagine he would condemn this practice as well. I remember his love for video games and how he wanted them to be accessible. Even if this practice leads to more sales, some people (perhaps a very small amount) will be dissapointed they missed out. This is no way to show appreciation to us customers.
