Here's something you might not have expected - Dragon Ball FighterZ is getting another DLC character. The announcement of the 'Lab Coat' form of Android 21 took place this weekend during Jump Festa 2022.
The 'Majin' version of Android 21 was already a playable fighter in the game, and the character is a collaborative effort between Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama and Arc System Works. The Lab Coat version of the character will be coming soon.
This announcement follows on from FighterZ Pass 3 - which contained Gogeta, Goku, Kefla, Master Roshi and Super Baby 2.
In somewhat related Jump Festa 2022 news, the upcoming movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero locked in a Japanese release date of 22nd April 2022. Here's the teaser trailer:
Are you looking forward to Android 21 (Lab Coat) in Dragon Ball FighterZ? How about the new movie? Comment below.

Can't wait for Krillin with hair!
Man, the amount of DLC in DBZ games these days is kind of off putting. My main reason for not purchasing this game, honestly.
I did buy DBZ Kakarot yesterday though (which should come in next week), as that one doesn't have all that much DLC from what I've seen. Excited to give that one a try!
Also I don't even know this Android 21. Did she actually appear in the series or are they just making characters up for this game now? I've only watched DBZ and GT many years ago so if she did appear then I either just don't remember her or she appeared in other Dragon Ball shows I don't know.
I wonder if she is a bones fighter? since her model has been in the game since day one.
Buuut, if its a whole new fighters pass, Can we please finally get Raditz? Please! nappa got in!
But will it be part of a fourth pass or what? The article doesn't mention how to obtain it.
@Yosher most of the dbz games that aren't exclusively aping the anime nowadays focus on game-exclusive plots and characters (who sometimes bleed over into toyotaro's manga from what i can understand?) and android 21 is DBFZ's exclusive character
@Moroboshi876 Android 21 (Lab Coat) is "coming soon"... that's all we know right now. Bandai Namco has only just revealed this fighter today in a teaser at Jump Festa, so I guess we'll find out more in time.
No matter how many DLC characters they added to FighterZ, it will never surpass the giant roster that is Budokai Tenkaichi 3 which had over 120 fighters and none are DLC.
@Specter_of-the_OLED i will say fighterz feels a lot less "fanservice over substance" than a lot of other bamco fighters in spite of its big roster (but it's also not a 3D arena fighter like tenkaichi 3 and xenoverse and so, so many other middling bamco anime fighters, so that might help)
I wish Nintendo cared about smash as much as Bandai Namco cares about like 3-5 year old dragon ball games.
If they did we'd be on the fourth fighter pass by now, playing break the target again, and getting god knows how many alternate costumes. Just when we'd think they'd be done they'd drop something like paper mario or dixie kong.
Also NB4 SMASH IS 3 YEARS OLD AND JUST GOT ITS LAST UPDATE.
That's nice, xenoverse 2 is like 5 years old and it's still getting dlc. At this rate the power rangers fighting game has had more DLC fighters added to it than smash has. Sakurai should be embarrassed.
NB4 HE WORKS HARD: so does all of his fans, and they give up their money to pay his bills. I get so tired of being reminded of how hard someone works when we all work hard. Shut up. He also doesn't have to helm it, other companies have made competent smash clones. Smash doesn't need sakurai, sakurai needs smash.
I hope its the last dlc and its free, the game is already expensive.
It's like when Malibu Stacy got a new hat!
I always thought of the Android/Cell Sagas being my fave DBZ storyline. Not holding my breath but I'd love to see Android 19 and Dr Gero brought into the game as well, maybe even earlier forms of Cell.
I m waiting to play with Zeno, no need to do any action and win.
@AugustusOxy xenoverse 2 is 5 years old and getting completely inconsiquential dlc (re: another jiren/gogeta in the last pack, various shared moves, nothing particularly interesting on the story side since the extra packs) that a vast amount of the fanbase complains about for them not letting the game die, yes
it is also an MMO to some extent as opposed to a straightforward fighter, so that's also worth keeping in mind
both it and fighterz have a decent amount of bloat that, while I can appreciate, could easily be skimmed off the top (can we get another goku in the house!!!!) and very much feels like bamco chasing the almighty dollar; I'd prefer smash not end up the same way any further than its current sizable spread of fire emblem characters and maybe a link too many
@somebread Right, I had a hunch something like that was the case. Thanks for that explanation!
@AugustusOxy I mean, Power Rangers has a total of 26 characters, and Smash has 89, but yeah, Sakurai should be ashamed of himself, that makes sense.
@AugustusOxy "That's nice, xenoverse 2 is like 5 years old and it's still getting dlc. At this rate the power rangers fighting game has had more DLC fighters added to it than smash has. Sakurai should be embarrassed."
There is a difference between the way Smash released their fighters compared to others. With others you might get maybe a handful of new stages with other fighting games while with smash you got a new stage for every fighter that got added.
@Randomname19 Ya, but to be fair it goes on sale often, I got the legendary edition for like 20 bucks, with all of the first set of dlc fighters, on top of that the fighters passes also go on sale often.
My Hero One's Justice 2 is more intrestring
but do people talk about its DLC? nooo
it has 8 DLC characters so far & 3 are still comming
and speaking of the latest DLC (Present Mic.) he sadly comes with a bug, that prevents the game from auto saving
aka everything you do, will be gone after you close the game
I'd like to see a new beat em up with all of its content actually on the disc from day one
@Snatcher And how is it fair? The game already have the code for all those characters that you have to unlock with paying dlc? wtf ? Just release the game as it should be released with no dlc bullshi..... But yeah it is how it is.
@iaLgan TBH I was a little annoyed that it was called the legendary edition, and yet, only came with the first FP, I mean 2 would have been nice.
HollowSpectre made quite a point We might not see any of this happening like full game in a CD or SD card. DLC is where we live now
Does Dragon Ball really lack that badly for characters that they throw a lab coat on one and then call it a new character?
Seems like this should just be an alternative outfit.
@Erigen I'm personally holding out hope for Casual Dress Piccolo
Hey I’m pretty hyped. It’s now the whopping 5th female character slot for the entire roster
This also might not be the last fighter either. Just because she is recycling assets doesn’t mean much. A lot of the past dlc characters were variations of other existing characters and recycled assets.
Really cool that we’re seemingly randomly getting another DLC character. Love FighterZ. Could be my favorite fighting game ever, to be honest. I know I was much more serious about fighting games maybe 20 years ago, but I still casually play this one with family and friends every once and a while. Hope there’s more coming. I’d love to have Moro, Granollah, and Pan in action.
I’ll be honest, even if I only play the game three or four times a year at this point, I’d still buy every DLC character.
@Zochmenos I find that budget idea hard to believe. The Dragon Ball series is one of the longest running and most iconic anime ever, regardless of anyone's personal thoughts on the series, it's hard to deny its overwhelming success. The people behind this game are a pretty major development studio now as well, with a game that has, as far as I know, been one of the most successful DB games.
And also, DLC is a money maker.
I just feel like lack of a budget for continued content seems extremely unlikely.
@Blackrosewaifu9000 Hey if you don't mind me asking? do you play fighterZ online?
@Blackrosewaifu9000 Alrighty then.
Thanks.
@Randomname19 well base game is cheap on sale…
@Zochmenos For a game that is still making profits? Absolutely.
I read that Toriyama designed her but she's not even canon. And they ask us to pay for her? she should be given as a bonus
@Snatcher @Dimi,i kow,i got it on sale too.Still thunk labcoat 21 should be free, unless she has different moves than Majiin 21.
@Randomname19 Don't worry she will have different moves.
@dimi what does canonicity have to do with anything, people love the dbz movie villains every time they're in a game and they aren't canon
@Zochmenos Not so much anymore. My gaming time is much more limited these days with my current job.
Wake me up when they add Super Buu
@somebread The thing maybe that Dragon Ball FighterZ feel more like it aim for the eSports crowd after they cried over their precious demise of the Marvel vs. Capcom series, Budokai Tenkaichi 3 feels like a proper send off to the true Dragon Ball fans before they take that leap to HD. Xenoverse 2 feels more in line as a proper entry to Tenkaichi whereas FighterZ may had continue where Budokai 3 left off but offer more technical gameplay over the casual button mashing of the Budokai series which is odd cause Namco was known for making button mashing fighting games. It's weird how they just abandon Atari's Budokai fighting engine as they based that from games like Tekken, not saying it's better than FighterZ though.
