Yesterday, it was discovered how pre-orders on the Switch eShop can now be cancelled up to one week before release.
That's not all that's been updated on Nintendo's digital store in recent times, though. As pointed out by Nintendo Life user Burning_Spear over on the forums, the main page of the "Great Deals" and "Current Offers" sales section now shows how many days remain before each individual sale expires. It means you no longer have to view each game page to see this.
This is also reflected in other parts of the store such as the main page and user wishlist (thanks, BenAV).
Earlier this year, Nintendo added a filtered search option to sales page. It allows you to look for games or DLC, set the price range, select a specific genre and customise your search with various other options such as "current offers", "playable now", "download exclusives", software with demo, and games that support Switch online play.
As small as the latest update is, it should make sifting through all the sales on the Switch eShop slightly easier than before. What do you think of this minor addition? Tell us down below.

Its preety neat
This is a wonderful addition.
Add a cart and some music, and you're on your way to making the Eshop decent Nintendo.
Thank goodness! I used to check DekuDeals every time I wanted to remind myself how long each sale lasted.
Great addition, not great for my wallet. 🤣
@MsJubilee I agree it is a shame their is no cart feature.
I would rather enter my credit card each eShop session to keep it secure, but it would be nice to at least add my desired purchases so I can enter it just once each session than for each game.
And I would think fewer transactions means fewer card fees for Nintendo, so why isn't it an option?
Yeah I noticed that, it's very useful. Now I easily know how much time I have to act for sale games I am thinking about getting.
@KingMike Overall the Switch eshop has a lot of room for improvement. One thing I really don't like is how you can't sort games alphabetically, everything needs to be listed by release date, best sellers, or price. It makes it so a ton of games easily get buried under loads of games that standout in those categories, a problem that is made worse by all the shovelware we get and sale games selling for a few cents. This wasn't a big problem at first but now it's a major issue.
And more importantly than it showing in the deals section, it also shows on the wish list. Very useful.
I like it. I'm sure I'll still put off buying a game and miss a bunch of sales like I've done in the past.
They should bring back being able to gift digital purchases to people on your friends list. I loved that feature in the Wii Shop.
This update helps emphasize how much empty white space is below the thumbnails that could display the title of the game!!
It’s a nice touch, but frankly I’ll take anything that will speed the process up and stop the stuttering during scrolling (so keep music out as it’ll probably just slow it down further). Also the ability to arrange based on level of discount would be nice and as many filters as possible. I personally would like the ability to rearrange the layout when scrolling to show as many titles on screen at once to reduce the time it takes to scroll through 800+ items on sale.
I think its a great idea!
@BenAV I've added this in!
@MsJubilee A cart, yes, but music isn't needed.
Now they need to stop having 800 games on sale at the same time so that you can actually browse it or at least split it up into pages. Its a bit silly when I need to read articles to see what good games are actually on sale
The eshop is in dire need of some sort of remodeling if only to make it run butter smooth. The slowness that kicks once I scroll down a few lines is so frustrating. It's almost as painful as what the PS Store once was during the very early days of the PS3.
Another 12 billion updates like this and the eshop will finally be good. At least it's improving, slowly but... slowly. Hopefully they will keep this eshop for the next generation instead of starting from scratch with zero feature
@Tipehtfomottob I forgot it was insanely slow. You just reminded me of the reason why I always browse for games on a PC
It's actually quite useful for me.
Still can't replace Deku Deals in any meaningful way. I use eShop only at the time of purchases these days. It's clunky, the wishlist is weird, and there is no way to have future (announced) releases on your radar - but this last one probably no store offers .
Oh, on the main page, was about to say that it already tells you when it ends on the game's page. lol
My wallet does not agree with this update 😂
Its going to burn.
The eshop still needs a ton of improvement, like being faster and having more search options. But this is definitely a nice addition.
Oh nice finally a good update, honestly Nintendo really should follow how Sony and Microsoft handle their stores. Just copy whatever good there and implement on the eShop.
Though nintendo use of space is a lot better than the PSN store that is for sure. Terribly slow though.
Nintendo make something nice, people complaint about any other feature that was not implemented. ¯(ツ)/¯
Virtual console confirmed
For all those who have mentioned Deku Deals. Thank you. I was not aware of the site... It felt like a life-affirming moment when the site opened and I could see what it was all about... Thank you.
Step in the right direction, just need a Shovelware filter now...
@noobish_hat what are the other problems?
This is pretty basic stuff. Shouldn't of took nearly 4 years to add this
@MsJubilee There is a cart there, but only works for DLC which is weird.
I don't browse the eShop anymore. It's show and awful to find games and check deals on my wishlist. I just use and wishlist everything through DekuDeals and just open the eShop when I've decided to buy something.
This is actually very helpful.
Is there anything to stop the hundreds of sale spamming mobile phone ports from having a sale that's always about to end - only to start again a day later?
The Japanese eShop had this feature, it's great seeing it finally making its way to the west.
Nintendo doesn't think we can do basic math? Have they forgot we only have to look in our pockets at our phone to find the date. There's even a calculator built-in.
@BANJO A shovelware filter would be great so long as Shovel Knight doesn't get put in there by accident.
This is very helpful but also puts the pressure on me to buy before time runs out. My poor wallet can't take it anymore.
@wazlon Yes we can leave Shovel Knight well alone, it certainly dosen't belong with the Shovelware...
@setezerocinco Too much shovelware(mobile garbage flooding the Eshop), Can't find anything without spending half an hour scrolling through piles of trash, and no cart.
The search filters could also be a ton better, such as games released on the switch in a specific year, by publishers(capcom, Ubisoft, etc.), purely indies, hidden gems. Stuff like that to help people like me find something in this bland digital shop.
Is that new on the UK eshop? The US eshop has had that for awhile now.
While the eshop is a mess, I've never had any issues using it. I think this is mainly because I usually know exactly what I want. Log in, use the search bar, buy then get out of there. I think I also give benefit of the doubt because the sales are always pretty damn good.
If I don't know what I want, I actually get a bit of satisfaction going through the sale section and spotting nice shiny gems amongst the shovelled *****. But I can understand why this dissapoints so many users.
Neat. I still don't like the slow loading of the deals page, and I don't like that you can't sort demos by date the demo is released. For example, if a game released February 1 this year, but didn't get a demo until yesterday, I would have to search way down in the demo page to find it, or, I'd have to just know that the game has a demo to go to the game page outright. It's rediculous as I depend on knowing what demos are available so I can make informed purchasing decisions, regardless of said game's release date.
