Re: Nintendo Has Worked To Escape Its 'Childish' Reputation, Says Miyamoto

I've just always gotten the most joy out of Nintendo consoles. I've had fun with others but the Switch is really just amazing to me- it came at a time when I needed video games back in my life and it fits my crazy-ass lifestyle cause it can go wherever I go. There are more powerful consoles, edgier games, whatever- but I stick with Nintendo because I feel like the love is there, and I feel like they really DO try to make products that have an emotional connection to as many people as possible. It goes beyond processing power for me.

@sanderev Yeah, I get it. Small teams and low budgets happen, but it's more the ARTSTYLE I'm talking about. Hollow Knight was essentially two dudes and a composer, Dead Cells was made by a small dev team/anarchist collective, and Thomas Happ made Axiom Verge by himself. I think these shovelware games are made by people who know that uninformed consumers will click and buy, thus generating revenue for more shovelware. It's insidious, it's almost anti-art.

Re: Reminder: Four Classic SNES And NES Games Have Launched On Switch Today

I'm not one to complain so this is just my 100% honest opinion- I'm really not a huge fan of how they've handled this so far. The truth is, I really don't see why they don't just bring back Virtual Console and be done with it. This drip-feed of old games just isn't something I'm real jazzed about, and for ME- the mechanics of NES games and most of the SNES games just don't do it anymore. There's no scenario in which I'm playing Super Mario Kart on SNES Online when I have the Switch version instead. All the games I DO want probably won't happen too (Axelay, ActRaiser, Illusion of Gaia, etc.) so it's just kind of "meh" to me. I keep paying for it so I can play online when I occasionally want to but let's be honest- it's not nearly as good of a value as PSN or GamePass.

I'm also not a "die-hard" retro gamer, so I'm sure this stuff is great for those folks, my tastes have just shifted to more modern mechanics so I just can't really get into this stuff. I'd rather they do something similar to GamePass where we get a few big titles and access to a bunch of indies every month or, again, throw the Virtual Console back up.

Just my opinions though, not intending to have an argument or anything. Figured I'd throw my 2 cents into the conversation.

@PhilKenSebben As soon as you can I'd absolutely make this one of the next things you pick up. Before I played a Diablo game I THOUGHT the combat would be like a hack and slash from the top down but its a little more "deliberate" and slow-ish. THIS is what I wanted Diablo 3 to be, fast and fluid, dungeon crawling awesomeness. I love it, I'm just trying to pepper it into my rotation but I'm ALSO currently obsessed with Arc System Works fighters (working on an article) out of nowhere so those kinda own me at the moment lol.

Guys, DON'T sleep on this one. It's made by a small team, it doesn't have the most polished looks, but the game is 100% fun and it plays great. It's a little rough around the edges but I've been playing it for a review on my site and helping the dev fix a few things pre-launch and it's really a lot better than most people are gonna assume. I cosign this one 100%.

These guys are a really great dev team, they're doing some things differently and I support them & respect the hell out of their work. This one wasn't for me, it's just not a play-style I enjoy- but it IS a great game and I'm consistently excited about what they're gonna do next. Mark my words, keep your eyes on these guys!
