Re: Video: Does The Switch Actually Feel 'Old' Yet?

MisanthropyAGoGo

Sure, a hardware boost would be rad BUT I just played through Nier: Automata three times on my couch while watching Lilo & Stitch with my kiddos, and I'm currently kicking back with some Spanish red enjoying the absolute %$#@ out of Rogue Legacy 2 while also watching New Girl. So, I guess that's where I stand.😉

I decided to jump back into Warframe, it had been about 3 years and I realized that I had spent a decent amount of $ on a couple of Prime frames and gear so I figured “why not?”. It’s a little overwhelming but I’m just having fun leveling up my gear, running Survival missions, and just slowly seeing what happens. It’s still amazing to see in action on my Switch- it’s gorgeous, it runs flawlessly, and it doesn’t feel compromised in any way. There was a reason (or twelve) that it was my fave for a long time and I’m glad I rediscovered it. For a long time I just had WAY too many games going on at the same time. Now I’m just saying “screw it” to my insane backlog, not worrying about grabbing every single thing that comes out, and I’ve got a much more levelheaded thing going with my gaming life. So, I’m enjoying the hell out of Warframe & Minecraft these days, and I’ve been really getting back into The Binding of Isaac too. Honestly, those 3 games (WF, MC, BOI) would be my desert island games for sure, no question.

Re: Surprise! Skyrim Anniversary Edition Is Out Now On The Switch eShop

MisanthropyAGoGo

@sketchturner I recently started fresh in Skyrim after lapsing for like a year. I used to be a reviewer/games writer and I’ve got a Switch backlog 900 + games deep and I love ‘em all. That said, Skyrim is my absolute all-time fave and I’m currently at about 150 hours in my replay. It’s immersive, it’s dense but not overwhelming, it’s epic, it’s gorgeous on Switch, and the freedom and atmosphere are second to none. Yeah, it’s 11 years old- but who cares? Greatness stays great, so ignore the internet complainers and trust me on this- if anything I said makes sense, just get it. I can’t imagine you’d been anything other than stoked.

@sonicbooming I recently started fresh and it’s now my all-time fave too. I’m enjoying the absolute hell out of it and waking up to this news really WAS like Christmas lol. These people complain too damn much, it’s hilarious how upset people get about things they don’t want or care about. Whatever, I’ll be enjoying this for a long time to come and continuing to not care what anyone thinks about it. Hope your wife has a blast!

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The Latest Nintendo Direct?

MisanthropyAGoGo

Didn’t do much for me, I would have been stoked on Bayo 3 but I don’t like hack & slash games that grade me on accuracy, I just like to wreck s$&t so I never even finished Bayo 2. Honestly though? I’ve been playing Splatoon 3 CONSTANTLY since launch and there’s enough there to keep me happy for a long time so I’m not real fussed. I’m probably gonna snag Sonic Frontiers and a couple indies between now and the end of the year and I’m good with that. I’ve got one of the worlds most ridiculous Switch backlogs (900+ give or take) so I’m not starved for rad games to play lol. Plus, I managed to squeeze a few really great games onto my laptop via Steam so I’m in a pretty good place. All that to say- the Direct was a big “meh” for me but It’s no big deal.

Re: Japanese Charts: Splatoon 3 Physical Sales Splatter All Over The Competition

MisanthropyAGoGo

Completely, 100% deserved. I played a TON of Splatoon 2 and #3 improves upon it in every way- and that’s saying a lot. Turf War rules, Salmon Run almost feels like a roguelike, and Table Turf is crazy fun too. The single-player is brilliant and the lore stuff is outstanding. Buying & leveling up clothes is addictive as hell and the whole thing is gorgeous to look at. I was kinda “meh” on the September Direct but honestly? Doesn’t matter much to me, cause I think I’ve fully caught the Splatoon bug and with so much content at launch + in the pipeline I’ll be chillin’ in Splatsville for a nice long while. If you run into ERMATERD, that’s me.

Re: Soundfall Finds Its Rhythm On Switch Today

MisanthropyAGoGo

We’ll, I’m HOOKED! Word of warning: once you hear the song “Fly, Fly, Fly” it will NOT leave your head. I’m listening to it on Spotify right now after playing the level like 8 times in a row just to hear it lol. This one is something special, and I’m not usually into rhythm games. I’m sick so I’m stoked to park myself on the couch tomorrow and just get into this even more. Don’t sleep on this one folks, it’s extremely well-crafted top to bottom.

Re: Round Up: Everything Announced In Nintendo's May 2022 Indie World Showcase

MisanthropyAGoGo

Soundfall is rad, y’all! As a musician I’ve always prided myself on my meter but MAN…this game really makes you work to stay on beat! Once you lock into the groove though, it’s a real stunner and the songs are fantastic. I love roguelikes but NecroDancer didn’t QUITE gel with me, Soundfall sure does though- I’ll be spending a good while trying to get better at it but it’s so fun I don’t mind a bit.

Re: 'Blast Brigade' Brings '80s Action Flick-Inspired Metroidvania Exploration To Switch

MisanthropyAGoGo

@ChromaticDracula No worries, I’m ALWAYS stoked to give a dark horse a chance! Seriously, I saw the thumbnail on the eShop and did my usual “looks like a mobile game” eye roll BUT- looking past that allows some pretty great mechanics to get their hooks in, and the exploration and writing is really damn good too. If you think of it, hit me back on this thread and let me know what you think of it!

Re: 'Blast Brigade' Brings '80s Action Flick-Inspired Metroidvania Exploration To Switch

MisanthropyAGoGo

Wanted to get in here to let everyone know- this one is REALLY good. I normally don’t gravitate to this kind of artstyle or super-comedic games but the Steam reviews were glowing so I picked it up. I played it ALL DAY yesterday til Gotta Protectors released later and it’s incredibly good. Tight controls and it just feels super well done all around. I figured a lot of people would write this one off on the looks alone so I thought I’d chime in. Don’t sleep on it!

Re: Cotton Fantasy Delayed Until Spring On Switch

MisanthropyAGoGo

Here’s how it things went down for me: I’d never played a Cotton game til last night. I’m not a HUGE shmup guy but all the talk lately and the gorgeous pixel art grabbed me so I downloaded Cotton Reboot last night. I played til 1:45 AM and then immediately ordered a Japanese copy of Cotton Rock N Roll from PlayAsia lol. This is my kind of shmup for sure, and it sounds like this one has a TON of replay value so I’m hugely stoked. Now I just gotta get good at them!

Re: Square Enix Is Looking Into More HD-2D Remakes Of SNES Classics

MisanthropyAGoGo

I’ll be the first to admit I liked Actraiser: Renaissance at first, I’m a HUGE fan of the original game and it was awesome to see it back on my fave console. That said, the game really is kind of a trainwreck (the less we say about the cowboy or the needlessly convoluted city defense parts the better) and if we got an HD-2D version of the OG game I think I’d lose my mind.

Re: Review: Kingdom Hearts - HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix - Cloud Version - The Worst Way To Play These Games

MisanthropyAGoGo

I know I’m probably the outlier here, but I’m a Switch-only player and I’ve wanted to play the Kingdom Hearts games for a long time. I tried all the demos and I didn’t experience any input lag, the frame rate isn’t perfect but it’s not a dealbreaker for me, and so I decided to snag the full collection. Sure, it’s not ideal, but we’ve got pretty great internet and I rarely take my Switch out of the house (stay at home dad here) so I’m happy with the decision. Plus, my kids love watching me play so that’s always a win. I don’t know, I guess I’m just not as hung up on all the perceived cons as everyone else, but I’m having a great time so far and they’ll probably continue to patch & work on it so it may be only upward from here. I don’t have the time or money for multiple consoles so this is a rad opportunity for me, I totally get the negative side for some but I’m just speaking for me.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Hopes For The February Nintendo Direct?

MisanthropyAGoGo

Also, NO MORE F$&@%#G CLOUD GAMES!!!

I got so stoked when I heard about Kingdom Hearts cause I’ve always wanted to play them and it just blows that they’re cloud versions. I wish everyone would get the message- the tech isn’t ready yet, Nintendo isn’t ready yet, and until the tech IS ready this crap should just stop. K, rant over.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Hopes For The February Nintendo Direct?

MisanthropyAGoGo

I’d love to get some DLC for Arceus even though I’m taking my SWEET time with it cause I’ll take more of it anytime. Honestly, that and some really kick ass first party news would be great, Wind Waker HD would absolutely rule! Xenoblade Chronicles 3 news would be rad, especially if Monolith heard my silent screaming prayers for it to have real-time ARPG combat this time.

Re: The State Of Switch Survey For 2022 Is Live And Wants Your Opinions

MisanthropyAGoGo

My wife & I just upgraded to the OLED model, our kids have Switch Lites, and I’m sitting at right around 800 or so games in my library. I love the Switch more than any other console I’ve ever had, and my only real “want” is more power. I don’t care if it’s a little heavier or whatever- I’m stoked to play my OLED model for a good couple years and it would be rad for the successor to just have a little more oomph. That’s it, it’s an amazing machine and I hope Nintendo keeps going with the hybrid concept cause it fits my life and it’s probably the reason I’ve been able to get back into gaming as a parent of two with a busy life.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 22nd)

MisanthropyAGoGo

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning has completely taken over my gaming life and I couldn’t be happier. It’s the perfect gameplay loop for me and it’s all tied together with the best combat I’ve ever experienced in a game. Coming up on 100 hours with no end in sight, just questing and leveling up and enjoying every second of it.
