Re: Actraiser Renaissance Hits Nintendo Switch Later Today

I was a little hesitant about the graphics but honestly they’ve grown on me, same scrappy spirit of the original. And, the gameplay & music is excellent. It feels just like the original game but modern and more fleshed out. Seriously though, the main Fillmore music has been popping in and out of my head since I was a kid. Hearing it again like this was pretty rad.<3

SO glad this one is reviewing so well! I’m a massive roguelite (I’m sick of the genre tags too) fan and this one has VERY quickly become an all-time fave. Thing is, I don’t care about the long levels because I enjoy the hell out of the gameplay so to me that’s actually a benefit. Don’t sleep on this one folks, we want them to keep making more awesome games like this, and I promise- this one is worth your time.

@PhilKenSebben Nice! I actually dropped off from MH Rise for a little bit, just one of those random mood shifts back into roguelikes and such. The Spelunky games are my latest holdouts for Switch indies right now, after them anything else is bonus. I’ve never played them so I’ll be going in 100% green.

@PhilKenSebben Hey buuuuuddy! Battle Axe is my next “most-hyped” but that one’s already got a release date. Spelunky still seems to be saying “Summer 2021” but I’m REALLY hoping they drop both games tomorrow. After those two I’m pretty much all out of wants at this point, and I’ve recently been getting back into backlog stuff so I’m pretty well set. I’m ALL about Immortal Redneck and Steamworld Dig 2 right now.🤘🏻

Monster Hunter: Rise is gonna be the default for a LONG time to come, but I’ll TRY to tear myself away here and there to keep up with my farm in SoS too but it won’t be easy. I love every single thing about MHR and I easily put in like 12 hours yesterday and could have played more. Darn kids & responsibilities!😉😂

I know there are VASTLY more important things to be annoyed by in the world, but it’s super annoying that I blocked out the whole day tomorrow to play this thing and now I’m not sure if it’ll even unlock until halfway through the day. This pre-purchase stuff is great and all, but I feel like I’m rarely “one of the first to play it!”. I know, it’s not earth-shattering but annoying nonetheless.:/

@JasmineDragon You won’t regret it, and BTW- I was hyped for Sakuna for a year and a half but I put it down after a few hours. Everything is great EXCEPT the controls while you’re farming the rice. It’s AWFUL, I’m not sure why nobody’s really mentioned it but it completely ruined the game for me. It’s gorgeous, and a killer idea, but I like my farming much less “bite my controller” rage inducing.

MHGU was my first foray into these games and I fell in love with it, but that sheen of 3DS jank kinda dulled the shine for me after a while. This? I’ve worn that demo OUT and I’ve got Red Bulls ready to roll for midnight tonight to get started on the real deal. I’m stoked, it’s gorgeous and it plays SO much better than MHGU so I’m excited to finally get sucked into crafting rad armor & beating the s$&t out of these poor beasts who are clearly just trying to go for a stroll through the woods.

@SwitchVogel Pioneers of Olive Town has quickly become my favorite farm game/sim out of them all. I’ve tried to like Stardew Valley like 9 times and it just feels stressful. Rune Factory doesn’t have enough farming even though I love the combat stuff, Friends of Mineral Town is great but I’ve enjoyed this one WAY more- I don’t know, something about this one just really works for me. My life is crazy, and I play a lot of intense games, so I actually prefer a little bit more simplicity and being able to just farm and take my lady presents lol! Plus, I’m TOTALLY playing in Seedling Mode, cause I don’t care about being “hardcore”, I like that money is a little less scarce so I can mostly just do what I want with a little challenge coming from trying to manage it all.

I think it’s a fantastic game man, I’m with you 100% on this one- considering I’m a huge fan of farming games I have zero idea why there’s so much hate for this one on the internet other than this- people spend more time these days tearing things apart than just LIKING something. So, I play what I want and screw the trolls. Plus, I turned 40 last year and I’m married, with two kids and a business to run- my brain doesn’t have room to care about what a bunch of strangers think I should be playing.

Nice to be back, I haven’t hopped into the rooms in a WHILE!

Re: Guide: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For April And May 2020

I'm having to suspend my gaming spending for a while due to the COVID-19 situation, I took a pretty gnarly pay cut at the day job and life is pretty dicey right now. I was hoping to pick up Trials of Mana but it looks like I'm gonna save that $ for Minecraft Dungeons cause I've been CRAZY hyped for that since last year. It's not a huge deal, I'm still getting stuff to review AND there's Animal Crossing so I'm all good. Might give me the motivation to check out some of my backlog too!
