Re: Review: Tiny Barbarian DX (Switch)

MegaAdam

That review read more like an 8 or a 9 than a 7, imo. I don't think anything mentioned was negative. I was surprised by the praise in the review, and then surprised again when I saw the score.

Re: Developers Discuss the Switch eShop 'Gold Rush'

MegaAdam

Launch games always have a unique place in the market. They usually get more leniency from reviewers as there isn't an established library demonstrating what a game is capable of, and as stated early adopters of hardware are also some of the most prolific consumers of software.

Like any other platform, as more and more games arrive, the harder it will be for any particular game to stand out. We're already seeing that with the Switch.

@impurekind
"and you're not stating it like it's an opinion; you're stating it like it's an indisputable fact."
I haven't done anything of the sort. I was merely pointing out that you made an assertion and have refused to actually support that assertion, and instead have attempted to shift the burden of proof onto others.

You're trying to use weasel words, but when you say there's pretty much zero doubt something could happen, you're making an assertion that it could happen. Your weasel words don't change the semantic content of the message. Back up your assertion, and if you can't, don't be surprised when you get called out on it, as you have been here.

@impurekind
You are the one that made an assertion: that Nintendo could make a hardware replica of the original SNES with perfect accuracy for $70.

Others disputed your assertion, and instead of backing up your assertion with evidence, you have attempted to put the burden of proof on them, asking them to prove that what you said isn't possible. But that's not how evidence works. It's impossible to prove a negative; you made an assertion, and you should provide actual evidence of your own to support that assertion.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Shakes Up E3 With No NX and a Focus on Legend of Zelda

MegaAdam

I'm sure I'm too far down in the comments for anyone to see this, but...

I think it's smart to not show NX if it's not going to be ready for the holiday. Too long of a delay kills hype. Look at the 3DS. Most info was known in leaks in the months before e3. It debuted at e3 to rave reviews; the glasses-free 3D was the greatest thing since sliced bread. By the time it launched in March 2011, pretty much everyone had forgotten about it. The hype had dissipated.

And there's a pretty compelling case that e3 hasn't been helping Nintendo's message recently, either. Look at the Wii U. Announced at e3 2012, and the general public came away with the impression that Nintendo was releasing a new tablet accessory for the Wii. Sure, a lot of that is on Nintendo's branding, but the confusion resulted because there was little focus on a new console among the cavalcade of info at e3. I think this will come into play with NX too; Nintendo wants to control the message.

Re: Site News: Welcome To The Brand New Nintendo Life!

MegaAdam

I can't get the comments to work. Every time I click the comments, I get taken to the home page.

Also, the games list is much less intuitive. The old one was one of the best sources to see eShop games on the web. This one is kind of a mess.

Re: Review: Tested With Robots! (Wii U eShop)

MegaAdam

Everyone complained that Nintendo's standards for developers were too strict. So they did what everyone wanted to do, and greatly loosened them.

This is the result. Cheap, terrible games flooding the eShop and crowding out the quality. Honestly, I liked it better when every game that was released had a basic floor of quality.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Brings Life to the 3DS With New Models

MegaAdam

You can't honestly think they'll keep both old 3DS, old 3DS XL, 2DS, new 3DS, and new 3DS XL on the market all at once, can you? No, the old models are going to be replaced, and if you want them, you should get them now.

It's surprising to me that they're announcing this so early, because I'm not sure who will buy the old version knowing these are on the way. It could definitely hurt their holiday sales.

Re: Review: Young Justice: Legacy (3DS eShop)

MegaAdam

@palatinus This seems to be what obviously happened, and development of the game was interrupted, but then the publisher tried to mitigate their losses by releasing the game as it was still in a middle stage of development, before optimization and bug fixes really began.
