I fear the decision not to include a second circle pad/analog control will be a problem for the 3DS. It will limit and hamper the attempts of 3rd parties to bring over franchises that utilize dual analog controls.
Hopefully the myriad other input mechanisms can appropriately compensate.
Pilotwings and Street Fighter for sure, day one probably. I'll definitely get Steel Diver and Nintendogs+Cats, but may wait for a deal. The others will all be wait and see.
I'm super excited for the 3DS, but the NGP looks really cool too. Unfortunately, I doubt its price range will be affordable, and it will probably need an Ipad-like data plan on top of that. I'm buying a 3DS on day one. Once I hear some more details about the data connections and Sony's pricing plans, I'd consider one of these as well. I'm sure this thing will be $400 or more.
I would prefer that Nintendo have one account. They're most of the way there with Club Nintendo, actually; they already track your systems and downloadable purchases under one user name/email address (and they also track what you play and how long you play it). It should be easy to tie in a unique friend code and friends list to that account.
Metagame system-wide achievements are the worst thing to happen to this generation of gaming.
No longer are you playing video games for the intrinsic joy that you inherently find from exploring an open world, competing against your friends, and perfecting your platforming. Now you have "gamers" motivated by a generic "Gamerscore" and a "Ping" as trophies are unlocked. People will spend real money, and even worse, hours of their time buying and playing terrible games because they have easy achievements and they want to inflate their console-wide "ranking". Do people really value their time so little? Or do they just value their meaningless metascore so much?
I don't want video games turned into a set of Skinner boxes. Thank goodness Nintendo has the fortitude and creativity to sell you games without relying on operant conditioning to keep you coming back. As long as "hardcore" gaming is more concerned with grinding achievements than new and compelling gameplay experiences, video games will remain stuck in the cultural ghetto.
While a 7 is a perfectly reasonable score, I disagree with the reviewer's reasoning. You can't get "SSB64 and more" in Melee or Brawl; they are all three drastically different fighting game engines. You can't consider them like Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II Turbo, and Super Street Fighter II; it's more like Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha, and Street Fighter III.
As such, I feel the game warrants more examination based on its own merits and not just the predecessor to Melee. I'd argue this game offers more pure fun than its sequels, even if there are a lot fewer bells and whistles.
Also, the Smash Bros. games are ridiculously deep. They may not be as well balanced as certain Street Fighter games, but the gameplay has plenty to offer.
Smash might be my favorite game series of all time. I salivated over the original for months and scraped and saved my allowance to buy it, and wasn't disappointed. I played tons in single-player, and kicked all my friends' asses. Then there were multiple Smash 64 revivals where an N64 was floating around but no GCN.
Then, Melee came out and consumed my life when I bought a GameCube, and I much later had great groups of friends to play that with.
Brawl never quite got to the same level for me, but I think that's because I was out of school and so didn't have easy playmates and also because they super-nerfed my character (Falcon) into worthlessness. The knee of justice was the best move in Melee.
Anyway, not sure how this game misses a 10/10. It's brilliant.
They've acknowledged that the timeline splits due to the events of OoT. One timeline ends up at Twilight Princess, and the other goes to Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. As for the others, I've got nothing, except Zelda II comes right after the original Zelda on NES.
I think Rhythm Heaven is about to be removed from the DSi cartridge slot.
I think the XL would be nice to have for making microgames, but it'll be awhile before I drop a buck ninety on one of those.
I know there's a limit to storing microgames on the DS cartridge, but is there a limit on the WW Showcase? Can I store an unlimited amount of games on the SD card of my Wii?
I picked up Wario Land early, and just recently grabbed Strikers and BW2. But I neglected getting MPT yet--it didn't even come out 6 months ago! If I had known, I would've grabbed a pile of them at $20 before Christmas. Now I'm going to have to scramble.
Since the menu update, my Wii's been somewhat unstable. If I play something, exit the channel, and then select something else, sometimes it'll freeze up and have to be manually reset. A giveaway is if it stops reading the game disc and the disc channel is blank. Try booting up the game as the first thing you do once you turn the wii on.
I wanted a new racing game and came investigating. The lack of different vehicles (from a gameplay perspective) and only 6 tracks for $10 was going to vote it down, but the fact that a Dukes of Hazzard horn plays on giant jumps in one of the trucks is going to win this game a purchase. I can forgive a lack of content when there's solid gameplay. Too bad there's no online multiplayer.

Re: Face Pilot: Fly With Your Nintendo DSi Camera!
I'm pretty sure this came out in the US on 7/26/10.

Re: Nintendo Download: 24th January 2011 (North America)
Really nice to see the Virtual Console getting more love, and extra nice to see Capcom giving the VCA a chance.

Re: Limited Edition Orange and Green DSis Spice Up Black Friday
If you want these, they'll probably hand around through Christmas and a little after, but don't expect them to make it to spring.
Re: Review: Rubik's Puzzle Galaxy: RUSH (WiiWare)
So has there been any word on more of these rubik's games?
Re: Super Meat Boy May Skip WiiWare and Head to Retail
I'd buy it as a retail release or WiiWare. I loved the flash versions and don't have a 360.

Anybody played in one of these yet?

Re: First North American Black Wii Advert Leaked, Start Saving $199
I already have a Wii, and I'm still buying it.
Re: Black Wii Could Hit North America in May
I will so by a second Wii in black. In a heartbeat.

Re: The Beatles: Rock Band
Can anyone tell me how many blocks the DLC songs for Beatles:Eock Band take up?

Great Review. I'm definitely going to be picking this up.

Re: Review: Mega Man (NES)
Mega Man: One of the greatest video games of all time.
I own the NES cart and the Mega Man Anniversary Collection and am still half-tempted to buy this again. That's how awesome it is.
