Third party publishers are failing to realize that with very few third party games coming to Wii U, there's a void that needs to be filled and they won't be fighting for shelf space and consumer mindshare. That said, I think at this point the best bet for third parties are Wii U exclusives, because the architecture is significantly different from the xboxes and play stations, whose architectures are largely parallel.
@BossBattles There is not a single true statement in that comment. I don't know if I've ever seen a comment so thoroughly riddled with falsehoods. I'm impressed.
I think Kyle Gray is missing the point. Works of art and literature rarely have only one level of meaning. Meaning is found by the audience. If the audience sees commentary on global warming, freemium games, video games as a medium, consumerism, or whatever else they see, they're not "missing the message." They're interpreting the work.
The game really is "about" all of those things. It's also "about" the concept of wasting time that the creators intended; but we shouldn't fall into the trap of only analyzing creator's intent.
I totally agree. I hate that games now aren't complete out of the box; and that hey will one day (in the relatively near future) be rendered obsolete. Sports titles these days often have their servers deactivated in little more than a year, and unpopular titles can shut down even sooner.
Meanwhile, all of my games from the GameCube era and before still play exactly as they did the day I got them. Funny that.
However, this deactivation is making me plot some epic Wii and DS online gaming in the near future.
I think the criticism of the small screen is overblown. SMB Deluxe had a ton of new content, which was the real meat of the package and greatly increased the replayability. I raced those Boos for hours; if I recall, once you beat one, you get a new, faster Boo that's a different color to race.
I guess I have to make sure I download all the extra Layton and Picross puzzles . . . and try and organize some online gaming over the next few months.
Make a Pokemon version of Skylanders. Money. Printed. Especially with the NFC capability in the GamePad, I don't know why they didn't go further than with a mediocre game like Pokemon Rumble U. They need a full blown Pokemon title of some sort on Wii U with the toys to match. That will be money.
Not that that is something I would like personally, but with a bit of a marketing push, it would sell phenomenally. And they need to get in before the market is totally saturated.
That software chart is pretty amazing, I had no idea it existed. But out of the 1245 games for the Wii (in North America) and 1732 games for the DS (again in NA), how many were shovelware? I mean, even Nintendo Life only has 442 Wii games and 374 DS games in its US database.
1. Renaming the console from Wii U to Wii 2 will only create MORE confusion, not less. Now Nintendo has to explain that Wii U and Wii 2 are really the same thing, and then get the obvious question of why it has two names if it's the same thing. 2. It's honestly a bit tasteless to compare losing the GamePad to a guy who cut off his own arm to escape death. I mean, come on, NL. Have some class.
SMB Deluxe is far more than a mere port of the original. I had it on GBC, and it had quite an extraordinary amount of new content. I never had a problem with the smaller screen resolution. If I recall correctly, it also featured a modified version of the Lost Levels. Honestly, this is an amazing game, even without the multiplayer, which I never got to play anyway because I didn't have two copies of the game and a game link cable.
I don't really desire my eShop balances combined, it's not particularly helpful in any way. And what am i supposed to do if I have more than one 3DS? Create a new ID for each 3DS?
Ideally, I'd like to not create a NNID on my 3DS and leave it as is, at least until I can use my NNID on multiple 3DSs.
The Hanafuda cards were one of the original rewards offered and were available for years. It's not like they sold out instantly like the chargers or these posters.
Even if the copyright term expired, you're still not going to be able to dilute Nintendo's trademark by making your own games with Mario in them. I'm in favor of shorter copyright terms, but Post writer doesn't know what he's talking about.
I think commenters on a Nintendo website are too quick to dismiss this confusion for parents.
I overheard a clerk in Walmart telling a Mom that she couldn't buy Wii remotes for her Wii because they were branded for the Wii U. They don't know any better.

Re: Game Boy Advance Games On The Wii U Virtual Console Are Single Player Only
They should have at least had local multiplayer. This is, frankly, laziness.

@Ryno About a quarter of a degree Celsius, actually significantly more than I thought it would be.

@Ryno @BossBattles Just stop, you're embarrassing yourselves.

Re: Club Nintendo in North America to Remove Post-Play Survey Coins for Wii and DS Games
Does this apply to Virtual Console, WiiWare, and DSiWare purchases? Any chance you folks at Nintendo Life could reach out for clarification?
Re: Japanese Persona Q Limited Edition 3DS Revealed
That is a nice looking 3DS.
Re: The Club Nintendo Rewards Are In For March
Number Battle is one of the only DSiWare Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection titles. Everyone should download it and have some battles before it disappears.

8/10, easy, if not 9.

I am very sad about this.

Re: Wii U System Update 4.0.3 Goes Live
So I assume this is why I couldn't get onto the eShop last night?

Re: Nintendo Download: 20th February (North America)
Don't forget the guild sales in the 3DS eshop!
Re: Nintendo's UK Store Shows The Love With Valentine's Campaign
Man, I want to import that Luigi 3DS.
Re: Review: EDGE (Wii U eShop)
This game is missing its North America release date in the sidebar; you guys should add that.
Re: The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition Available For Free Right Now in North America
I assume we have to register a NNID to our 3DS to download this game, right? That may be a dealbreaker.
It's also a shame I can't get it on the DSi XL I picked up last year.
Re: Nintendo Confirms "Super Indie Connection Sale" on North American Wii U eShop
A great sale. Unfortunately, I already have all 5 of these games; I bought most of them on sale, but not for prices this good.

Rogue Squadron also used the analog triggers, for boosts if I recall correctly.

Re: The Nikkei Reports Potential Nintendo Smartphone Strategy, to be Announced This Week
I predict utterly useless marketing apps. Maybe something approaching Nintendo Zone.
Re: This Year of Luigi Diorama Brings a Dark Moon to Club Nintendo
I'm a bit short on coins at the moment, I'll have to go enter all my codes.
Re: NES Remix Confirmed And Available Today on the Wii U eShop
This might be the best thing I've ever seen.
Re: Guide: Using Miiverse And The Nintendo Network ID On Your 3DS
Is it possible to link and unlink a Club Nintendo account from a Nintendo Network ID?

That model looks amazing
Re: The Wii Mini Will Arrive in the U.S. in November
Might pick one up for the collection. I'm sure this will be a novelty that's hard-to-find in fairly short order.
Re: Go Green With The Luigi Special Edition 3DS XL, Available In The UK Today
Why is this not in NA!
Re: Male Wii Fit Trainer Revealed as Latest Smash Bros. Challenger
Fox, Falco, and Wolf are all very different characters. They were definitely not just model swaps.
Re: Review: Pinball (Wii U eShop / NES)
This game is AMAZING. I remember being entranced by it as a kid.
Re: Nintendo Confirms The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL Bundle for North America
Not bad. Still like the Luigi XL better.
Re: Zombie Blaster Removed from the 3DS eShop in North America
After two weeks, huh? Interesting.
Re: GameStop Advert Offers A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL and Luigi Bundle
That Luigi bundle looks like a new color Blue for North America, no? Like the cobalt blue the Fire Emblem LE was.
Also, I'm disappointed that we're not getting the Luigi 3DS XL pattern like the Animal Crossing.

Man, I really wanted that Luigi DSi XL in North America.
I wonder if we'll get the Zelda as well. There have been a ton of LE 3DSs this year.
Re: Video: Here's How The 2DS Stacks Up Against Other Handhelds When It Comes To Stamina
Um, is this test accurate with older systems with older batteries? Batteries weaken as they go through many discharge/recharge cycles.
You'd be better off just doing this test separately with each new handheld as it launches.
Re: Illegal Nintendo Clones Are Running Rampant On Windows Store

Shut up and take my money.
Re: Four Turbografx-16 Games Return to the Wii Virtual Console in PAL Territories
Are the other R-Types also available or likely to return? There were two delisted from the SNES and one from the Master System.
Re: Feature: When it Comes to Games, What's in a Name?
I prefer the streetpass games to have the name streetpass in them. I always thought "Find Mii" was lame and not nearly as awesome as Streetpass Quest.
Re: Hands On: StreetPass Plaza's Downloadable Content
So can you use a single streetpass hit in all 4 games?
Re: Review: Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader (GameCube)
This was the game I bought with my Gamecube. Definitely did not disappoint.
