Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo 3DS XL

MegaAdam

With regards to the battery life, as you said, battery technology isn't keeping up. It's not like there's much Nintendo can do about it. You can add a bigger battery, sacrificing light weight and smaller size, or you can deal with short battery life.

Re: 3DS XL Comparision Gallery

MegaAdam

Nitpicking, but I don't like how they move the stylus around. Now after playing my 3DS, whenever I go play a DS, I'm always searching for the stylus where it doesn't exist.

Re: Wii Has Featured Fewer New IPs Than Rivals

MegaAdam

I see some new IPs of this generation were not counted because they appeared on handhelds first. For example: Rhythm Heaven Fever, Big Brain Academy, both DS games of this generation brought to Wii. Is it really fair to say these aren't new IPs?

Re: Talking Point: Wii U Bundles Need to Suit Us All

MegaAdam

Two bundles is actually kind of brilliant. I could see the no-frills console+ gamepad version going for $300, while a bundle that also included a RemotePlus, a nunchuk, a Pro Controller, and an HDMI cable and maybe a game or something for $400.

Those dual bundles may in fact be the ideal launch configuration. Hmm. Good thinking, guys.

Re: Wii U Power Lacks a 'Generational Leap'

MegaAdam

The key is that neither Microsoft or Sony seem super excited about leaping to the next generation yet. Microsoft seems content to keep building its install base and trying to make Kinect and Live the center of the TV room, and PS3 is still struggling to keep profitability.

A new "next-gen" much much more powerful console can only be achieved by another $500-600 launch price, and as we've seen, the market rejects that. $300-$400 seems to be the sweet spot for what the public will realistically pay for a console, and you're not going to get a generational leap for that.

Re: You Can Transfer Wii VC Games to Wii U

@Rebel81
Every iPhone app is playable on an iPad, it's just if they aren't Universal apps they are effectively "emulated" and don't take up the full screen. I can still put them on as many iOS devices as I want. If I upgrade to the new iPhone or iPad, I can take all my apps with me and still keep them on my old iPhone and iPad too.

That's what would be ideal with Nintendo, as well.

Re: You Can Transfer Wii VC Games to Wii U

MegaAdam

Real Nintendo user accounts? Awesome. About time.
Transferring games? Cool.
But if it's the 3DS transfer where you lose your games on your Wii, lame. If I buy an App Store game, I can download it to both my iPod Touch and my iPad. And if I had more iOS devices, I could put it on those too. That's how it should work on Wii U.

Re: Feature: The Evolution of Nintendo's Controllers

MegaAdam

The gamecube has the best ergonomics of any controller I've ever touched. There are some things that could definitely be improved, like the d-pad, but it just feels amazing to hold.

And one of the greatest benefits to the Wii Remote and Nunchuk is having independent hands. You don't have to keep them together to play, and this is a supremely comfortable way to control games. I love the remote+chuk for games without motion control or IR pointing, even.

My hands cramp on a dualshock after a couple of hours. I've never had that happen on either the Wavebird or the Wiimote.

Re: Oster Lays Out WiiWare Criticisms

MegaAdam

I think probably Nintendo needs to change their payout structure so that games that get less than 6000 sales still pay their creators. Their current policy seems to fit the mold of "no garage developers."

Re: Wii U Will Launch With Digital Store

MegaAdam

Supporting external hard drive = AMAZING, Thank you Nintendo.

As for downloading full games, based on the prices I see in the Wii Shop and eShop, I'll definitely buy the physical version and it will cost me less. And then I can take the game to a friend's house! Amazing.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. 2 to Kick Off Retail Downloads

MegaAdam

I think it's cool that they're doing this, but for me, I'll stick with physical games when I have the choice.
1. Can play it on more than one 3DS, so if mine breaks, I don't lose the game.
2. Physical cartridge will be cheaper as retailers put it on sale and eventually clearance or bundle it.
3. I like manuals.
4. I don't want to fill up my SD card with just a couple of games.

I don't download full games on the PS3 either if I can get them on disc.
