Re: Former Sony And Microsoft Exec: Nintendo Has Surprised Me With Switch

@datamonkey from the linked original:
"GamesBeat: From the sidelines, where do you see the big three here and how well they’re doing?

Harrison: Nintendo has surprised me in a good way. They’ve put some excitement back in, or at least added a dynamic to the console equation that wasn’t there previously. From my focus group of a household with younger children, Switch is definitely the console that gets used. Mainly because of the content types. Surprisingly, the TV-to-mobile use case works way more effectively than I expected. Maybe I should give Nintendo more credit. I really enjoy that."

@Wichtel The censored version is the best because their screen that they have instead of the banned one about sexual violence is far funnier than any gig else in the game.
Coupled with weak RPG mechanics and writing quality nowhere near South Park's clever social commentary best I'm happy to keep avoiding them.

@PlywoodStick Every person who downloaded it was an item of food being taken from Nintendo's pantry, and the size and scope of the project being of a commercial level meant a very large amount of downloads were going to happen. Are you upset because the ant would have passed food on to you and other fans?

@gatorboi352 @PlywoodStick The amount who still play is about the amount they expected to play on the first place. If they didn't have 1000 times more people than they expected, then instead of trying to spend insane amounts of time and resources breaking new ground in trying to have an online only game work for many millions at once, then these changes would have come 6 months ago.

@gspro15198 Getting someone good to run it, so Nintendo will charge for it from next year, charging for a whole year what Xbox and PS+ charge for a month.
It's Nintendo's best online, servers are working better than Wii and Wii U and vastly superior to MS Xbox Live servers (my nephew got an Xbox One S for his birthday and initial update failed 100 times, has always been very problematic).
