Re: New My Nintendo Rewards Are Now Available in North America

LordMolecule

I used my coins on the Warioware game, other than Metroid Fusion I haven't seen anything else I have cared about with My Nintendo rewards.

I'm still positive that the service will be better as we get closer to the NX and have more games to get rewards for....because for me personally, Miitomo got old pretty quickly.

Already gotten, and I am sorry for my European brothers and sisters in Nintendo. I still don't quite get why Nintendo releases games at different times in different regions.

Someone told me once that it's because there are lots of different languages to translate for in Europe....but I didn't think that made any sense as you guys have gotten games before us (Muricans) like Paper Jam which was MUCH more text heavy.

Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Fit Into the Zelda Timeline?

LordMolecule

@Detective_TeeJay It could be solid, but tbh they'd have some explaining to do.

Why new Hyrule failed, why the Master Sword isn't in Ganon's brain and in some stone, why Link is sleeping (which is confirmed to be explained in the interview where the dude is like "you could totally finish the game immediately after waking up, but then you won't discover things like why you were sleeping" (that was paraphrased, I don't recall exact words))

There are a few things that to help it, like how the sword looked chipped and especially the rust spots (lol you'd think they would use some higher quality metal for the MS). It might not be rust though, it could just be old grime or somethin'. We really don't know enough.

All I can really confirm is that it taking place right after WW is silly. Haha there is too much ocean for the ocean to be dried up.

Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Fit Into the Zelda Timeline?

@Detective_TeeJay I guess but they'd have to explain why a Link had been sleeping in a previously flooded area, have to Hyrules exist at the same time, if a Zelda is in this game (which I assume there would be) then a family member (at the least) from the New Hyrule would have to come back to the old one and have another Zelda (if she is to be of the same bloodline of every other Zelda in the series).

I think it's far more likely to be theory 2, but nothing is impossible. Since the timeline started when Link pulled the sword in OoT there would be no Link to put to sleep so it makes no since for there to be a Link sleeping as there wasn't one to save the world from Ganon before the Gods had to flood Hyrule as evidenced by the beginning of WW so that removes the possibility of one existing to put to sleep...at least from the end of OoT. It's possible that a Link was put to sleep before OoT? But then there would be sleeping Links in all three time-lines.

I think if there would be a Link on that timeline, it would have to be far after the events of WW,PH, and ST...lol sorry, I might be thinking too much. I love Zelda probably too much. I had too much fun trying to make sense of it all!

I don't suppose anyone knows where these theories came from? I'd love to go pick their brains.

Theory 1 makes very little sense to me (or at least the placement in the timeline according to the image). Phantom Hourglass comes immediately after WW. In that game the same Link is still a kid, and the water is still very much everywhere. It also says at the beginning of spirit tracks that they set sail to find a new land. If it's gonna be in that timeline, it would most likely be after ST....unless there would just be two Hyrules and possibly two Links at one time. Also Link would have to go find Nintendo's largest landmass ever for a Zelda game, leave the master sword there, sail back to the ocean, live the events of PH, and then embark on a journey in hopes of finding a new continent.

That seems very silly to me. The only way for it to make any sense at all is to completely ignore Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.

Theory 2 is totally possible. Good news Joshi! It is far more likely to be theory 2!

Also, if Nintendo didn't fire her because of what trolls were doing, wouldn't the trolls still be making Nintendo's decision for them? Should we forever be checking up on what trolls are saying before we are allowed to fire employees for being bad at their job. I've seen how bad the gaming community can be for women (as I have a lot of gaming sisters and people can be downright infuriating), but as Yorumi said; just because she is a victim of bigoted misogyny doesn't absolve her of her being awful at her job.

Re: International Game Developers Association Issues Critical Statement Over Nintendo and Alison Rapp

I personally think Nintendo fired her not because of trolls or because she was a woman or even for for having a second job. I think they fired her for sucking at PR.

Of course Nintendo will be criticized of misogyny because people love drama. Like with Fire Emblem, I found it funny that Nintendo is being criticized in Japan for being so open-minded, and being criticized in the west for being close-minded over the exact same game.

@crimsontadpoles Unfortunately when there is an explosion of negative press over something, it is much more likely to be censored. Like how the drugging scene came across as trying to 'fix' the gay. People translating it themselves without all the details started throwing around the term homophobia. It was like taking something out of context because they didn't even have the context. Now that's been removed.
