Just look at Microsoft with the debacle of Xbox One. "Don't want the forced Kinect and 24-hour check in? Well, we have an option: it's called the Xbox 360."

@World How has the market outgrown VC? What does that even mean? Xbox, PC, and Playstation all offer the ability to buy games from past generations.

And people say the same thing about Playstation and Xbox. Both are guilty of price increases on hardware, software, and subscriptions. Playstation software is basically one-two new games a year now. Xbox releases more games, but the quality is spotty.

And, no, I'm not a Nintendo fanboy. I think decisions like this Pokémon port are dumb. I'm just trying to figure out how it's any better with the other options. I'm really curious to know where exactly this grass is greener. They all have their issues.

@Pillowpants By that logic, why not release everything on the eShop? I think plenty of people would buy standalone SNES, N64, GameCube, etc games. I still miss the Virtual Console.

@manfredmanatee @JohnnyMind That's all well and good, but toxic positivity is a thing. We shouldn't be rewarding companies (especially Ubisoft) that put out broken or half-hearted games. There's no excuses that ROMs for a 30 year old game should be this broken. It encapsulates everything wrong with Ubi and most AAA companies right now. Rayman helped put Ubi on the map in the 90s and this is the best they could do? Really?

@Maulbert Who said anything about Sega IPs having the cultural cachet of Nintendo? And which Nintendo IPs do you mean? Obviously Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon are huge, but I'd say Sonic is more recognizable than Star Fox, Metroid, and F-Zero.

@SuntannedDuck2 I mean, they could've used a color that was easier on the eyes than red. I think that was a part of the issue. I think you're overestimating the supposed importance of color was to people. Despite handhelds with colored screens being on the market, the Game Boy was still selling the best, despite having a black and pea soup (later white) screen.

@UltimateOtaku91 It's been about 8 months since game key cards have been a known thing. People still haven't moved on. How is it worse on PS5? A vast majority of games don't need the internet to download the game. Install? Sure, but that's from the disc. It doesn't talk to the internet.

@Kingy What low quality products? That's so vague. It has to do with the squeeze on the economy. Everything is going up in price, while salaries are stagnating. I'm sure lots of people would buy these "low quality products" if they had money to spend and we weren't seeing price increases on everything.

@FrenchVaniIIuxe Okay? The article didn't say it was a good year to be a movie studio. What does box office revenue/viewership has nothing to do with the quality of the movies/TV shows? A lot of the content that came out what was well-received. When did Gunn ever say he was worried about being fired? With any merger or acquisition, people are curious about how they will be impacted, regardless of their success.

@kmtrain83 All PS5 games require an install, but a majority don't require a download, which is different. The latter needs the internet. Blu-ray discs aren't fast enough to process data, which is why installs are needed.

@Antray1984 It's not just about preservation. Also think about storage. Without a MicroSD Express, you can only fit a few games on the Switch 2.

And an incomplete game that needs some updates is very different from something that needs online to work at all.

I know the first game was garbage, but the art style for this actually looks pretty good.
