@Uncle_Franklin You mean corporation culture? It's not just a Japanese thing. When companies are doing well, they'll become tone deaf and obstinate. Just look at Microsoft with the debacle of Xbox One. "Don't want the forced Kinect and 24-hour check in? Well, we have an option: it's called the Xbox 360."
@The_Nintendo_Expat "the grass actually IS greener in terms of hardware, pricing, and arguably software."
And people say the same thing about Playstation and Xbox. Both are guilty of price increases on hardware, software, and subscriptions. Playstation software is basically one-two new games a year now. Xbox releases more games, but the quality is spotty.
And, no, I'm not a Nintendo fanboy. I think decisions like this Pokémon port are dumb. I'm just trying to figure out how it's any better with the other options. I'm really curious to know where exactly this grass is greener. They all have their issues.
@Pillowpants By that logic, why not release everything on the eShop? I think plenty of people would buy standalone SNES, N64, GameCube, etc games. I still miss the Virtual Console.
@manfredmanatee @JohnnyMind That's all well and good, but toxic positivity is a thing. We shouldn't be rewarding companies (especially Ubisoft) that put out broken or half-hearted games. There's no excuses that ROMs for a 30 year old game should be this broken. It encapsulates everything wrong with Ubi and most AAA companies right now. Rayman helped put Ubi on the map in the 90s and this is the best they could do? Really?
@Maulbert Who said anything about Sega IPs having the cultural cachet of Nintendo? And which Nintendo IPs do you mean? Obviously Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon are huge, but I'd say Sonic is more recognizable than Star Fox, Metroid, and F-Zero.
@SuntannedDuck2 I mean, they could've used a color that was easier on the eyes than red. I think that was a part of the issue. I think you're overestimating the supposed importance of color was to people. Despite handhelds with colored screens being on the market, the Game Boy was still selling the best, despite having a black and pea soup (later white) screen.
@UltimateOtaku91 It's been about 8 months since game key cards have been a known thing. People still haven't moved on. How is it worse on PS5? A vast majority of games don't need the internet to download the game. Install? Sure, but that's from the disc. It doesn't talk to the internet.
@Gamer83 @PikminMarioKirby Both PS5 and Switch 1 had steep discounts. Switch 2 didn't. That's it.
@montrayjak Innovative how? It's just a new Kinect.
@Jhena He cherry picks data to make Switch 2 look worse off than it is. One slightly negative article and he'll post a clickbait video saying Nintendo is doomed. I hate game key cards, overpriced games/upgrades, etc as much as the next person, but he's the stereotypical grifting ragebait YouTuber.
@Kingy What low quality products? That's so vague. It has to do with the squeeze on the economy. Everything is going up in price, while salaries are stagnating. I'm sure lots of people would buy these "low quality products" if they had money to spend and we weren't seeing price increases on everything.
@FrenchVaniIIuxe Okay? The article didn't say it was a good year to be a movie studio. What does box office revenue/viewership has nothing to do with the quality of the movies/TV shows? A lot of the content that came out what was well-received. When did Gunn ever say he was worried about being fired? With any merger or acquisition, people are curious about how they will be impacted, regardless of their success.
@Spider-Kev How are they comparable? They're not the same genre. Lol
@Misima What do you want exactly? There's been plenty in the past decade give or take a few years. Lego Marvel, Lego Batman, Injustice 1 and 2, Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Deadpool, Spiderman Shattered Dimensions, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Guardians of the Galaxy
@calbeau Thunderbolts? Superman? Fantastic Four? You didn't think any of them were good?
@kmtrain83 All PS5 games require an install, but a majority don't require a download, which is different. The latter needs the internet. Blu-ray discs aren't fast enough to process data, which is why installs are needed.
@PinderSchloss So, any game you don't play is a 0 in your book? That's some strange logic. I think the normal thing to do would be to just not score it (ie NA).
You don't think the price of the game will ever fall? At which point you'd play it?
Who would give this a 1/10? Wtf 1/10 is reserved for games that are literally unplayable messes. I'd even say games like Sonic 06 don't deserve a 1/10.

@JumpingJackson Because slime, magnet, and eggs were the height of creativity, right?

@World How has the market outgrown VC? What does that even mean? Xbox, PC, and Playstation all offer the ability to buy games from past generations.

Re: "We Thought It Would Be Fun" - Nintendo Explains Why Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen Aren't On Switch Online
@Uncle_Franklin But you did get a Switch 1? It's just more of the same.
Re: "We Thought It Would Be Fun" - Nintendo Explains Why Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen Aren't On Switch Online
@benjamouth Regardless of piracy, it's still ridiculously priced. These are 20 year old games that were originally like 30 bucks.

@ElRoberico Did you get into gaming when Sonic 06 just came out? You NEVER want to give it a try? Not very open minded.

@premko1 Are you going to expound on that? Lol
Re: Nickelodeon Splat Pack Revives Multiple SNES Titles In One Retro Collection

@The_Nintendo_Expat I don't think it's that crazy
Re: Surprise! Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition Has Been Rated
@Flashlink99 Just play Rayman Redemption
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island
I like both, but I went with US solely off nostalgia.
@TheBigK Huh. Never heard it in that order. I've always seen "certified hood classic."

Re: Opinion: The Nintendo Console Nobody Wanted To Review Returns Soon, And I'm Here For It, Again
@Handy_Man It's semantics. Last year the version 1.00 (the first major, stable release) came out.

@Mortenb I mean, a lot of VR headsets can display the gameplay on a TV/monitor so others can see.

@Crecca Is the Gears game even on the disc?

@OmnitronVariant But a 1? Really?
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Super Mario Galaxy + Galaxy 2?
Lol. Who would say it's abysmal? Based solely off pricing? Absolutely. But if we're looking at this collection in a vacuum, I don't get it at all.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Harvest Moon (SNES)
Europe really took the "Harvest Moon" name literally. Art feels more appropriate for a horror game.
Re: He-Man Is The Next '80s Icon Getting His Own Stunning Arcade-Style Retro Revival

Re: Uh-Oh! It Looks Like Donkey Kong Bananza Is Already Out In The Wild
@SirLink Don't they always disclose whether it's a game card or not on the box? I don't even know why people were questioning it.
Re: EA Worker Pay Continues To Dwindle As CEO Picks Up $5 Million Bonus, Thus Creating Amusingly Tall Financial Graph
@johnedwin Depends. How much are the employees making? Is there as much of a discrepancy?
Re: Publishers Are "Thanking" Nintendo For Game-Key Cards On Switch 2
@Antray1984 It's not just about preservation. Also think about storage. Without a MicroSD Express, you can only fit a few games on the Switch 2.
Re: Publishers Are "Thanking" Nintendo For Game-Key Cards On Switch 2
@Shepdawg1 A vast majority of PS5 games are on the disc.

And an incomplete game that needs some updates is very different from something that needs online to work at all.
Re: Moo-ve Aside Mario Kart World, Garfield Kart 2 Is Racing Onto Nintendo Switch
I know the first game was garbage, but the art style for this actually looks pretty good.
Love how it has the dot-printing like a comic strip.
