Re: Video: Everything To Do Before The 3DS And Wii U eShops Shut Down

@Kilroy Yes, I meant for that particular platform. Anyway, thank you for your input. I keep forgetting this is the reality we live in. Ill try and focus more on buying box versions from now on. Although, this annoying trend seems to extend to physicals as well. Almost every game requires download now. Its almost as if they want to leave you with broken product once the support ends to make you rebuy it on the next platform, but I am probably overthinking it.

@Kilroy Thank you, I forgot its interconnected.
I understand what you mean, by closing it they renew their business on newer platforms. At the same time, it makes sense for them to keep it open to lower piracy and reduce physical media production costs since there would be more people willing to buy games digital knowing their games will be there "forever", but thats more of my wishful thinking than anything. Its just sad that being a long time fan amounts to nothing.. literally. One day, we will lose everything and nintendo will keep making us rebuy the old stuff again and again. Its like they forget who made them successful - people who are denied access to something thats rightfully theirs. Its not right.

I dont wanna pay more on something I know is going away. If nintendo doesnt care, why should I? Plus who knows how long my 3ds has as a hardware and if it dies, can I even transfer anything to a new one?
Im not a fan of emulating games, but since this service is now literally expired I feel like it can be justified. Excluding developers, it doesnt sit well with me giving support to someone whos not willing to support back. If there was a guaranteed way of closing the eshop and being able to redownload the software you bought at the same time for all eternity, I would be more than willing on buying some more stuff. I have no idea how this works but is it really that costly to maintain some server or whataver with redownloadable software? I was shocked how low of a number the total 3ds library is in gigabytes from the Completionists video, so is it really a money problem or does it concern the expiry of some kind of developer licenses?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 11th)

Im tackling my backlog. I wanna have Dragon Quest 11 crossed in my list. It never deserved to be abandoned by me in the first place - such a great game. The only game that could stand in my way of playing it is Metroid which has a physical release later (I hope I can buy it in local store when it comes out, but I cant find it anywhere and I am a little nervous).

Re: Octopath Traveler II's Newest Character Trailer Is Absolutely Gorgeous

As others have mentioned, the voice acting is really annoying and cringey. Also, the game seems exactly the same as the first one. The worst thing for me is that were getting the same classes again. So when I sum it up, there isnt much Im excited about. Its just another pretty to look at but everything else is meh Square kind of game. I love the aesthetics of their titles, but they dont make any big steps forward when it comes to gameplay and writing..

Re: Talking Point: In 2023, Do You Still Care About amiibo?

Justaguest

A bit of a stupid reason but I was "proud" of Metroid Dread so I bought two figurines and since then I got two more that I liked. I might buy more depending on how much I appreciate given game. So for me its buy a game first, like it and then search if there are any amiibos sold for it.

Re: Talking Point: After Pixel Remaster, What's Next For Final Fantasy On Switch?

Justaguest

I have no idea. I was planning on getting the physical FF pixel collection to educate myself on the series, but im not gonna pay a rent to get it now that you can only buy it from someone. I really wanted to shelf it but I guess Im gonna have to give up on that. Its kind of annoying that all the other FF physical versions are unlimited but this one lasted like a day. I hate that..

Re: Review In Progress: No Man's Sky - Right Up There With The Very Best Switch Ports

I am very grateful to Hello Games who pulled this off, but after playing around 300 switch games, I am not sure if I am willing to tolerate this much of visual downgrade due to Switch hardware. I think I am at the point of being fine with playing some games on pc only, especially open world games which in my opinion should be visually pleasing. Whats the point in spending hours running around a world thats ugly version of something that could literally look ten times better elsewhere. I know this could be said about every other game thats available on other hardware, but it really hurts when its this genre which is about exploration.
