Re: Editorial: In Praise of the Smaller New Nintendo 3DS - The Best 3DS*

@ThomasBW84 Huh? I don't think I implied that video games weren't fun and always have to be taken seriously.

But this isn't one of the "funny" or "joke" articles that NL puts out every once in a while. A title sets the tone for the entire article- a serious opionated piece, btw- and is meant to give a quick snippet of what is discussed within.

So if the entire article is a serious opinion piece, why shouldn't the title also be regarded as nonjoking?

It's the author's job to convey humor accurately... if someone takes a joke seriously, it probably means you didn't execute it correctly, set the appropriate tone, or provide enough context.

For example, if the article was littered with lighthearted comments, or if you were known as that one NL writer who jokes about opinions being fact, then the "humor" in the title would be noted.

The asterisk doesn't fix the faulty language of describing a console as the "best," for the reasons listed in my first comment.

Don't get me wrong, you wrote a fantastic article. But I stand by what I said.

@GoldenGamer88 Cool, I'm glad you'll have more time to play!

I usually don't have trouble keeping my cool in battle, but after battle is another story. If I lose more than 3 matches in a row, I end up quitting due to anger. I don't think my anger impairs my battle performance, but it certainly ruins the fun.

Oh, so the Splatfest went well? I couldn't make the times today, but I'm glad it was fun. Maybe we could play Splatoon 2 sometime together!

I don't like how the title calls it the "best" 3DS, because that implies that it's inherently superior. When in your article, you say that's merely your opinion... so a more accurate title would be "my favorite 3DS" or something along those lines.

Personally, I like the XL, because it rests comfortably in my hands. I'd rather have slightly grainier graphics than have to hold the screen inches from my face, too.

That being said, I think the faceplates are amazing, and I love how portable the smaller New 3DS is.

@GoldenGamer88 I agree with you. It is possible to turn the tide of battle, but it's certainly way harder and annoying than other maps.

My favorites depending on game mode:
•Saltspray Rig and Walleye Warehouse in Splat Zones

•Urchin Underpass in Rainmaker

•Camp Triggerfish in Tower Control

Favorites no matter what:
•Blackbelly Skatepark, Flounder Heights, Museum D'Alfonsino, Ancho-V games. I love these 4 maps no matter the game mode.

Least favorites no matter what:

•Hammerhead Bridge. I despise this map. I'm not a fan of Moray towers either, but nothing compares to Hammerhead.

Re: Pokémon GO's Biggest Update Yet Brings Gym Badges, New Items And Raid Battles

@AlternateButtons @gatorboi352 What you're saying makes absolutely no sense. Pokémon Go is a mobile phenomen that has been matched in popularity possibly only by Angry Birds. In fact, Go probably swept the world even more so.

Do you really think it's fair to compare the game to the height of its success, a height so outrageous that no other game has matched it?

6 million daily players is an enormous number that hardly warrants saying that "no one" plays the game. Most app developers would kill for that number.

And that's saying something, considering it's a game that requires you to actually get off your butt. Also, DAILY players. It's not just a kid opening Doodle Jump every once in a while when he doesn't feel like going on Snapchat. There are 6 million people who walk outside their doors everyday to play this game.

Have YouTube views or something numbed your mind to the enormity of that number? I live in an area with one Gym and 3 Stops, and I still have people in the area who I don't know that take over the Gym every day. And I live in a pretty obscure area. That's how big 6 million is.

Honestly though, I've dealt with gatorboi before and I understand his/her total lack of logical and critical thinking skills. I don't expect any of this to get through your head. That would require reading and thinking.

Oh well, I just wasted several minutes of my life. Gatorboi, feel free to reply with a rebuttal in which you directly address my points. (I would be surprised if you did, because you never have when I've challenged you to in the past. Once again, that requires thinking.)

@Interneto Lol. First of all, I rarely browse reddit. Second of all, I think it would more accurate to word your reply like this:

>Literally everyone on Earth except the few 4chan users who don't mind visiting a human cesspool of a website

>Thinks 4chan is the boogeyman, is right

Re: Editorial: The Nintendo Switch, E3 and Its Opportunities for Quick Wins

JubilifeRival

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I agree with a lot of what you said, but I feel like you're expecting something that no company has given or ever will give.

ARMS doesn't indicate that the Switch is a Wii U 2. What game could be put out that would convince you that the Switch is more than that?

I'd like you to provide one example of a game on Xbox One or PS4 that makes those consoles feel like more than just second versions of their predecessors. ARMS utilizes Joy Con motion controls, which the Wii U didn't have.

XB and PS might have better graphics compared to their predecessors, but at least the Switch has something new like Joy Con. I would prefer something that directly enhances gameplay to something that makes the games look slightly prettier.

Unless you also think that XB1 and PS4 are just second versions of their predecessors, in which case it would seem you just dislike all game consoles. But I doubt that's true, because I know that you love video games just like the rest of us.
