Splatoon 2 is out and plenty are up-and-running in the various online modes. Nintendo, for its part, has promised a full year of additions in free updates, which should include gear, weapons and occasionally stages and other meatier content.
The launch weekend will be in on the action, it's been confirmed, with the familiar Inkbrush due to arrive on Sunday.
This time around it'll have the Splash Bomb as the secondary and the Splashdown move as its special.
Will you be picking this up in the game tomorrow?

Yessss!
That's an old favorite of mine!
To answer Javier here:
It's perfect, use your speed to dash right in the middle of everyone, then nuke them. It's a great ambush weapon. That's how I plan to use it anyway.
nice!
What's the required level to be able to buy this? I'm still LV 10, so I'm worried I might not be able to get it...
Splashdown is still my favorite special out of them all. Yay!
Kinda wish it didn't have splashdown. Close range special on a close range weapon.
Kinda sucks that it has one of the worst specials IMO, but oh well.
Shudders ink-brush users...
Splash down is amazing when you super jump or use it from jumping off a high ledge. People that say it sucks just aren't using it right lol it's not a win button
They can keep the DLC on ice - fix the damn voice chat / matchmaking app it's ridiculous
I didn't use it or the Splat Roller much, but I'll give them a second shot. I'm anticipating the Splatbrella the most though. I hope to use it as my main weapon.
@Jayvir Exactly! It doesn't make any sense; you need to be close to splat with the Inkbrush anyway. It should really have something like the Baller, which allows you to get close to opponents in the first place. Or the Burst Bomb, to irritate opponents from afar and open paths for yourself. Or the Ink Mine to allow you to sneak up on enemies.
@Aaron09 *Shudders
@Kalmaro udders*
@Aaron09 lol Spelling error. Oops.
@SuperTeeter64 Haha, I couldn't resist.
@Jayvir @JubilifeRival Lack of range is its counterplay. It's hard to get in close but if you do then it's devastating. Brush also gives some CRAZY movement speed while laying down a trail. Clear strengths and weaknesses=good game design.
so what level do we need to be to get this ?
I'm waiting for the umbrella lol
@MrYuzhai Pretty sure the app and the game are done by completely different teams
I´ve already witnessed it in an online turf battle
@Indielink I have like 100k turf inked with the Inkbrush in Splatoon 1; I know it's strengths. It already is devastating close range, so why does it need a close-range special?
The weapon's weakness is its lack of range, so the special should do something to improve that, or boost some of the Inkbrush's other strengths.
@Tsurii me?
Cool.
Now when's more stuff coming out in ARMs because I want to balance the two
Here I was thinking all of the weapons in this game were pretty good. Glad they're finally adding in the worst weapon from the original so I can splat all the noobs dumb enough to use it. xD
Surprised the Inkbrush is being added in as DLC considering how it wasn't in Splatoon 1. At least, I don't remember it like that. Ah well, I'm keen to see what else will pop up as "new" content. If they add in more hairstyles and pants types - that'd be amazing!
i think i have enough weapons at this point. i need to start working on single player mode.
i do not want to end up being at level 30 (multiplayer) and yet at the same time have no progress at all in single player mode.... multiplayer mode is way too addicting....
@ThatNyteDaez
It was lol it was great. Came in around halfway through the games updates if I remember correctly.
How often will the DLC land?
@SuperTeeter64 @Kalmaro Whoops lol
Nice I'm so ready. Such an amazing game so far
I went Aerospray years ago and never went back.
One of my least favorite weapons, but more variety is never a bad thing in a game like this.
See some of this is just nonsense. The game only came out yesterday and they're giving "free" content already. Ya right. They've a load of stuff already complete but it's release is just being staggered. It was the same story with the original Splatoon on Wii U. And most of that was locked on the disc.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE When you develop a software product, you have to freeze features at some point. If you release a game today, the features may be frozen 2 months ago. After implementing all the features, you have to test all of them and focus on fixing issues. If you continue to add more features, it may introduce more bugs and prevent you from releasing the product at the scheduled date. Things aren't simple as you think.
I love the Splashdown!
@JubilifeRival Its special DOES increase one of its strengths. This is a brush tailor made for being super aggressive. If you don't like it use one of the other brushes. The Octobrush is available at level 10 and has the Ink Jetpack and the autobomb. Maybe that's more up your alley.
@Yasaal
Ha, I'm Level 7. Don't worry, shouldn't be too high level.
splatoon is a meme at this point
Thought it was already in the game, but that might just be U.S. one
@BezBot Same, I played against two or three people on launch day that had them
Edit: Oh, maybe I'm thinking of another brush. I thought this post was saying the Brush class of weapons was coming soon
I'm savoring this game to the uttermost...
I don't get all hog-willy crazy with the abilties and gear, but I do have a decent set up for being Level 7. Ninja Squid with Swim Speed Up to negate its weakness, 2 Ink Res Ups, Ink Recovery Up, Ink Saver Main and Sub...
But I just got 4-ability sandals from Splatnet2 with Ink Saver Main, but it replaces the Ink Recovery Up and 2nd Ink Res ability shoes. And I really liked having double ink res. I'm ok with Ink Recovery swapping for a 2nd Ink Saver Main... just hope the 3 open slots will justify losing that 2nd Ink Res.
Saw the Inkbrush update... it's now live btw.
Would love to get this game but I don't have internet at home & I'm not getting it just for video games. If internet were $10/month yes but it isnt. Maybe some time in the future though.
An interesting side note. Went to my local Walmart and 3 Nintendo Switch units were out. Wow! The first Switches I've seen since launch day. You might still be able to snag one if you travel to Marshfield, Wisconsin.
I'm level 4, so a while to go before I could get this. Do you miss out of you aren't the right level yet?
@Proust
That's a bad analogy since you obviously purchase the bottle in the store, just like you purchase the game case alongside the cartridge if you buy Splatoon 2 in a store.
It's more like buying a 50cl bottle of Coke that contains 25cl and then you receive the remaining 25cl "for free" over time.
I'll also add that I don't think this is stupid at all. One reason I personally bought this game is because I like that they spread out "free" updates like these and that I want to be a part of it from the get-go. It keeps me coming back to the game and keeps things interesting over longer periods of time. They could obviously include all the things they have planned as updates on the cartridge day one, and I get that some people prefer that. But I think the game would stagnate pretty fast if that was the case. With these updates the meta will change over time and keep the game fresh.
Splatoon 2 has been the best game so far for me on switch. I didn't want to get it after playing splatoon on Wii u to death but I'm enjoying it so far and clearly a graphical jump from Wii u but you won't see it on you tube
@BezBot I think it was shown off at E3 etc, so was likely always planned as an add-on for the launch weekend. It's a way to keep us interested into day three, I suppose!
@MetaRyan Oh me too! That's what I was thinking of.
Admittedly in the original game I was always in the category of people who didn't care about the Inkbrush since in my mind the Octobrush (which is already in the game at a higher lvl) was superior. Nevertheless I tried it out for the first time last night and loved it. I never realized it is both the fastest weapon at the start of the game (when no ink is available for swimming) and the fastest weapon on grates. Both of those advantages helped me come up with a few unique strategies for it that the Octobrush would be far less capable of carrying out. Plus I got a few kills on an Octobrush, which was pretty sweet.
@MrYuzhai During the initial months following the first game's release, I believe they released a pair of new weapons every other week. New stages were about once a month or so, and I think Splatfests were either once a month or with two week gaps in between them.
@Proust I would argue it should be called free DLC primarily to distinguish between all the paid DLC in games these days. While I can see the argument, the last thing the consumer needs is confusion on which type of DLC is being offered, especially when they are trying to understand how the remainder of the game's content will be offered.
I prefer the dualies.
