Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch OLED Model Looks Lovely, But May Also Disappoint

Johnny44

Have to say I am very disappointed. I wanted 4K and better performance more than anything else. Have always only had Nintendo consoles and probably always will but when I look at footage of PS5 or even PS4 games it frustrates me that we can't have that for Zelda, Mario etc. They could have released a Pro alongside the normal Switch and let people decide which one they want.

Two things I never understand:

1) People saying they don't have a 4K tv yet. They're quite cheap these days.

2) People saying they can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p and between 1080p and 4K. If you look at a good PS4 Pro game like Horizon Dawn it's impossible not to see how much better it looks than a 1080p game.

3) Turns out there are threee things I don't understand! When people say the Switch games look rubbish on their 4K tv. Mine look great! I don't know if my tv is already doing some kind of upscaling but usually the graphics are crisp and detailed. When they are not it's down to the game itself, i.e. AC has parts that look great and parts that look more jaggedy/blurry. But that's because they were lazy in the programming.

@TryToBeHopeful I know, it baffles me! I've never played a game as much as I have played this one. Except perhaps for some of the Zelda series. I think it's amazing value for money even if I'm not playing every single day anymore. I still enjoy coming back in for the events even though some/most aren't very exciting. I would welcome more puzzle_based events similar to the one where you had to go through a maze. But otherwise, it's been great so far! I never played any of the previous AC games so I have nothing to compare it with but all this 'it should have this and why doesn't it?' attitude is silly to me. There's no written law saying it has to contain everything previous entries had. I just look forward to any update we get.

Re: Rumoured Switch Pro Might Not Actually Use Nvidia's Tegra X1+ Chip

True, but the gap will be a lot bigger by the end of the year.

Surely handheld technology for Switch could display 1080p and 60fps by the end of 2020/early 2021?!

I'm not saying the current switch has to have it but they could surely create a 4K dock or something that at least upscales to 4K while docked. Or they should just release a new powerful 'Pro' just like we have the PS4 Pro. You can still play the games on the normal PS4 and the Pro games simply Benefit from the extra power. Why can't we have the same Scenario with Switch?

I agree with jarvis, if they don't upgrade substantially then the gap with the new PS5 is going to be huge and developers will have less interest in trying to make games fit on the Switch.

The Switch is in its third year now so surely their next console must support 4K but whether that will be an upgraded Switch or a completely new console I don't know. All I know is come December and the release of the new PS and Xbox the Switch is going to start looking VERY outdated.
