Re: Forget Switch 2 Game Key-Cards - "Full On-The-Cart Physical Releases" Are What People Want, Says Publisher Lost In Cult

JoeyTS

@electrolite77 I don't quite agree with the comparison here. Very rarely will you have to make a 50 GB download on your phone while that's going to become a norm for Switch 2. Sure you can game on your phone, but games are much smaller in general. They ultimately serve different purposes here. Everyone who buys a Switch 2 does it to play games, not the case for a phone. And it's a legitimate issue when Street Fighter 6 and Hitman alone will take up half of my entire storage no matter if I buy it digitally or physically now.

Re: Forget Switch 2 Game Key-Cards - "Full On-The-Cart Physical Releases" Are What People Want, Says Publisher Lost In Cult

JoeyTS

@electrolite77 You mention one of my points, didn't talk about the other. I think we can all agree that 256 GB of internal storage is not enough. It's only perceived as enough because it is such a massive upgrade from 32 or 64 GB from the Switch 1, but at least Switch 1 had a large majority of true physical games, something that's now turned into a minority with the Switch 2. And of course a proprietary and more expensive form of MicroSD card is required to expand! We can talk about Playstation and Xbox selling physical media in the same vein as game key cards, but at least they have the decency to ship their hardware with 512 GB to 1 TB.

Re: Forget Switch 2 Game Key-Cards - "Full On-The-Cart Physical Releases" Are What People Want, Says Publisher Lost In Cult

JoeyTS

@Michael0916 Yes exactly which makes one thing very abundantly clear, 256 GB is not enough internal storage for anyone looking to play the greatest 3rd party offerings that are bragged about on this system. If Nintendo was going to push game key-cards which are in line with the rest of the industry unfortunately, then they needed the storage to back it up like the other players have

Re: Forget Switch 2 Game Key-Cards - "Full On-The-Cart Physical Releases" Are What People Want, Says Publisher Lost In Cult

JoeyTS

@Michael0916 I mean if we're talking about your original comment, 60 GB to 90 GB is not twice the size as you mentioned. That one example doesn't dismiss the games I mentioned, and still doesn't validate 256 GB being enough storage. A single 60 GB game still takes up 25% of the entire system storage. Which is why CDPR should be praised for putting their entire game on a physical format and why any success they get, regardless of how they get it, is a win in my book.

Re: Forget Switch 2 Game Key-Cards - "Full On-The-Cart Physical Releases" Are What People Want, Says Publisher Lost In Cult

JoeyTS

@Michael0916 Switch 2 file sizes are standing toe to toe with Playstation and Xbox now. The gap is much closer now. For example, Split Fiction on PS5 needs about 79 GB, Split Fiction on Switch 2 needs about 71 GB. Street Fighter 6 needs about 60 GB on Steam, Street Fighter 6 on Switch 2 needs about 50 GB. At the end of the day, anyone who wants to play the latest 3rd party games on their Switch 2 will only be able to fit in about 4-5 games unless they want to buy expensive MicroSD Express cards to expand the storage. It's no wonder why 3rd party games are underperforming and that the best selling 3rd party game on Switch 2 is Cyberpunk, you know the ONE 3rd party game that actually provides a cartridge with actual game data in it.

Re: Forget Switch 2 Game Key-Cards - "Full On-The-Cart Physical Releases" Are What People Want, Says Publisher Lost In Cult

JoeyTS

@Sambuc Xbox and Playstation at least have the decency to ship their hardware with 512 GB to 1 TB of storage. Even the similarly priced Steam Deck will give that to you. 256 GB of storage in 2025 is a joke when quite a few 3rd party games that use game key cards happen to be 50+ GB downloads. And of course you have to use a specific and more expensive type of MicroSD card to even get more storage.

Re: Is Dave The Diver An Indie Game? The Game Awards' Host Weighs In

JoeyTS

@Magician Journey is not a Sony property, they just helped fund and publish the game as the last of a three game contract with Thatgamecompany being the developer who is still very well independently affiliated. Even being funded by Sony can arguably classify Journey as a non-indie game but regardless, there's no comparison. The difference between being funded for one-offs versus being owned permanently (both the franchise and the company) is substantial.

Re: Is Dave The Diver An Indie Game? The Game Awards' Host Weighs In

JoeyTS

@Magician You don't have to agree but when you have a franchise being backed by one of the largest companies ever, it's objectively not an indie game. Indie means not affiliated with a major company, which cannot be said for Minecraft considering it is now affiliated and backed by Microsoft. It's just not an indie game anymore.

Re: Random: New College Course Is Grading Students On Their Zelda: TOTK Engineering Skills

JoeyTS

@SteveDaSteve I watched the video and they mentioned this is a class meant for 2nd year engineering students. This means they took classes before this, and they'll be taking classes after this. Their experience will not be defined by this one instance of them using this game, a game that can provide great simulations to engineering in an engaging and interesting way. It doesn't have to be for everyone, but I think it's pretty cool.

Re: Wario's New Voice Actor Seems To Be Confirmed

JoeyTS

Some people are going about it as if his voice ruins the game. I think this is a little silly. Afghani's interpretation is perfectly acceptable in my opinion, especially considering this is his first time voicing Wario. If he continues to be the voice of Wario (and of course Mario and Luigi), I look forward to seeing how he will continue to refine his voice and grow into the role!

Re: Review: WarioWare: Move It! - A Fine Return For Wario's Wii-Era, Motion-Based Mayhem

JoeyTS

This is honestly a great thing! Get it Together is a game for Switch Lite players or players who take no interest in motion controls while Move it is the motion control experience for those with detachable joycons and likely a dockable Switch. People shun Get it Together, but it's really because of that game that we now have the best of both worlds with this new one coming. I'm excited!

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder English Voice Actors Officially Announce Their Characters

JoeyTS

@OhBoyIysSwellToSay Nintendo is smart for knowing they don't have to hire star power to record a bunch "wahoos" and "yipees" in a video game. That's an utter waste honestly when it's clear that smaller voice actors are more than capable of doing it effectively. If Nintendo is hiring big names, it makes it sense for it to be done in a medium where there is full dialogue.

Re: Guns And Spurs 2 Attempts To Give Red Dead Redemption Some Cowboy Competition

JoeyTS

@solidox Name me an Activision game that employs a 90% discount on day one. No really, I would love to know! Name me a company that puts literally every single game they publish at a 90% discount, that I also would like to know.

I love that you acknowledge that people get duped so easily from buying these games, it proves my point exactly. They are horrible games that are straight asset flips with fake screenshots and descriptors on the eShop and your comment about people being duped so easily implies that you know that these are bottom of the barrel games. Imitation of beloved franchises is the best form of ripping people off as I say. But seriously, if you don't mind games like War Tank Machine Battle Vehicle Simulator - Fight World Wars WWII Mechanic Troopers Royale Driving , then you do you.

Plus in the article you linked, Naughty Dog altered the design anyways, it's a moot point. These asset flips are still on the eShop, even thought their one Last of Us rip-off is gone, dozens of others are still there unfortunately.

Re: Review: Mortal Kombat 1 - A Superb Fighter, But Severely Kompromised On Switch

JoeyTS

@Truegamer79 If it technically isn't finished yet, then they should not have released it, especially at full price. Since they wanted to release and charge people money for the game in this current state, it has every right to be reviewed in this state. I personally find it beneficial to know that this very expensive game is buggy and unfinished because NetherRealm sure did not tell me.

Re: Charles Martinet Will No Longer Be The Voice Of Mario

JoeyTS

@EriXz Welcome to Nintendo games, where a majority of their central characters (Mario, Link, Samus, Kirby, etc,) never speak full sentences. The person behind the voice has nothing to do with Nintendo's design choices. Mario is not going to suddenly be speaking full sentences.

Re: Charles Martinet Will No Longer Be The Voice Of Mario

JoeyTS

@dkxcalibur I think also being the voice of Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi (along with plenty of other side characters) made him extremely valuable for Nintendo. It cannot be overlooked that he is professional voice actor who not only can create iconic voices, but convey so much even with so little. I've heard so many impressions of people going "It's-A me, Mario!" but I do not believe them. It's only been Martinet who could recite the line and have the essence of the character to make me believe that this is really Mario and not just someone doing a voice!

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

JoeyTS

@Ryu_Niiyama You certainly don't have to reply if you don't want to, I'm simply having a discussion over it. If it bothers you so much, then don't feel like you have to continue this conversation. It's not a case of if they are doing something illegal, they are absolutely doing something illegal, don't sugar coat it. Why are they putting fake screenshots when advertising their game? To trick consumers. And why is Nintendo allowing developers to put false pictures of their game and let them get away with falsely advertising their product? The fact that they continue making these games shows that what they are doing is working and that's why I think it is important that this gets brought up because falsely advertising their 90% off asset flip is not something that should be celebrated or given benefit of doubt. They know what they are doing and they have and will continue to do it. You're making an assumption of the future when in the status quo, this is a legitimate issue happening.

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

JoeyTS

@Ryu_Niiyama That's a round about way of saying that they are stealing work that isn't their own to falsely advertise their game which last I checked is illegal if doing it without permission. The important question is why they are doing that in the first place. It's simple, because they are tricking consumers. That's the point of it all. All of what I've mentioned, the buzz word titles, 90% discounts, fake screenshots, these are all what distinguish the motives behind Midnight Works. In short, they know exactly what they are doing by gaming the system and they are rightfully being called out for it. There's no growth, for the past year and a half, it has been constant barrages of these same kinds of games from the same developer.

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

JoeyTS

@Ryu_Niiyama Don't forget about the fact that they use fake screenshots. The article even mentions one of their games which uses screenshots from GTA V and Cyberpunk for their eShop advertising. What's the excuse for this being allowed? Midnight Works literally uses screenshots from other video games to advertise their own game. Like I said the writing is on the wall. Making paragraph long buzz word titles, 90% day one discounts, fake screenshots. The consumer always has a responsibility, but in a closed ecosystem such as the eShop, Nintendo I feel has to be held accountable, especially since Nintendo targets such a large casual audience. Something as simple as a rating system which the eShop used to have goes a long way here.

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

JoeyTS

@Ryu_Niiyama I disagree that the difference is indistinguishable considering the intent of one is to make a genuinely good game while the intent of another is to game the system and trick consumers. The writing is on the wall, and you just have to see the track record of Midnight Works and developers linked to them. You can't tell me that a developer who titles their game Deep Space:Action Fire Sci-Fi Game 2023 Shooter Strike Simulator Alien Death Ultimate, falsely advertises their game with fake screenshots and eShop descriptors, and puts on a 90% off day one discount is trying to make a genuinely good game. There are now dozens upon dozens of games over the past year and a half that follow this exact structure and are all linked by the same developer.

Re: Feature: The Rise Of 'Scam Games' And 'Keyword Bingo' Firms Flooding Switch eShop

JoeyTS

@Ryu_Niiyama Midnight Works and developers linked to them are not hit and run developers. Don't even compare them to developers such as Mojang and ConcernedApe who put actual effort and passion into their respective games. Midnight Works has dozens upon dozens of titles, and every single one of them uses pre-made assets, fake screenshots on the eShop, eShop descriptions that outright lie to you, and a paragraph long title (Deep Space:Action Fire Sci-Fi Game 2023 Shooter Strike Simulator Alien Death Ultimate Games Switch eShop). Then slap on a permanent 90% discount to make consumers think they are getting a good deal, and then rinse and repeat for each of the countless games this developer has produced. Do not side with them. They are not a company of passionate creators giving their best effort, this is a company of literal scam artists that knowingly game the eShop and trick unknowing consumers.
